View Full Version : Back Break light bulb FELL OUT
alphapenguin 11-12-2004, 01:51 PM I was on may way to dinner and my friend (driving behind me) noticed my back breaklight was out. I wasnt too happy, but bulbs burn out. I was suprised that a bulb would burn out within a year. The next day I went to go replace the bulb, and when I removed the socket thing, the bulb was missing. Somehow it fell out and into the well of the light. I had to fish it out with some tape and my finger. Now that was fun.
Has this happened to anyone else? I checked to see if I was hit by anyone, cause I dont see how the bulb would just pop out.

abbid 11-12-2004, 02:49 PM why dont you put it BACK IN?
Kidding...sometimes that happens, if the bulb wasnt put in properly in the first place, yes manufacturers do make mistakes...
Mazda Monkey 11-12-2004, 07:22 PM It is not that easy to put back in. You have to remove the tail lamp housing & then turn upside down to shake it out.
takahashi 11-12-2004, 08:05 PM Probably it was not install properly in the first place.
It is a rare incident I think and I hope it won't happen to you again.
Have you got it out that? You may want to drive to a local KMart to buy a set of fishing equipment :p
alphapenguin 11-13-2004, 02:44 AM i was fearing i had to take out the stupid houseing for the lights, but as I stated in my first post, i was able to fish it out with my finger and some tape. I wrapped the tape (double sided tape) around my finger, stuck it on the bulb and fished it out. Maybe I should do a DIY for getting them out:-D
THanks for the responses though.
silverrx 11-15-2004, 06:07 PM The same thing happened to me!!! That bulb is tons of fun to get out. I think that is pretty crappy on mazdas part.
alphapenguin 11-15-2004, 10:41 PM what did you do to get it out?
I just saw an 8 running down the road with a brake light out the other day and thought that it was awfully young to have blown the light. Maybe the same thing happened to him? Weird. I've never really heard of anything like this before.
RXE16T 11-17-2004, 10:06 AM Anyone smell a TSB coming along?
alphapenguin 11-17-2004, 11:13 AM if this does happen to you dont take it to the dealer, cause they want to charge 60$ alone for labor. My friend just got charged 250$ to install his hard top on a s2k. dealers know how to make money off labor.

 WTF?
I would never dream of charging my clients anything as astronomical as that..... ;)
xxdevilzeroxx 11-17-2004, 11:26 AM ive seen it happen before, just go to the dealer and get it fixed!
devoid 11-17-2004, 12:04 PM ^^^ and get a ticket on the way! ;) Of course your officer would be police34 and he'd site you for "Exhibition of speed"
alphapenguin 11-18-2004, 12:12 AM ive seen it happen before, just go to the dealer and get it fixed!
if this refers to me, i already fixed it myself. My girlfriend was giving me smack about my new car's light going out too. !! At least it didnt burn out. but maybe falling out is worse...
