View Full Version : Winter Mats
hobbes 10-15-2004, 03:43 PM So instead of buying rubber mats that will have the RX-8 logo on them for way too much, I'm looking at buy anything that will fit in the car. It's for winter, so as long as they keep all the snow and salt away from everything, that's the most important thing for me. Anyone ideas? So far I feel like I'll be heading to Walmart and getting the old box cutters out to custom them for the car.

Danielson 10-24-2004, 12:26 AM I do have the original winter mats for the RX8, they are great and work very well, sometime it's worth to invest some extra money on a such beautiful car, and they look great too...
mysql101 10-24-2004, 12:51 AM I bought original OEM winter mats on ebay for $20. I was skeptical they were OEM, but they had the mazda seal, and fit perfectly, even had the hole for the driver side peg to go through. The seller had more available too..
bean438 10-24-2004, 11:17 AM I bought the all season mats from my dealer. They were around 120 bucks.
They really dont look that bad. The little rotary patterns hold the water.
Dont do a walmart custom cut job.
For the money you spent on the car dont chince on the mats.
mechi 10-24-2004, 09:58 PM i bought the rx8winter mats from the dealer for $107 including tax. i thought the mats were pretty good but i put in on top of my original mats which made the floor a little bulky. did you guys put it on top or did you take out the carpet mats and just use the winter mats?

Rotary Titus 10-25-2004, 02:39 AM aaaah *covers eyes from the blinding view of how I got ripped from getting mine from the dealer*
but in any case, it took my dealer 2 weeks to get them to me so I used my old car's generic husky winter mats (from canadian tire)and they worked ok. A bit thick but still worked all the pedals fine. Doesn't look as good but hey... whatever works!
Kart Racer 10-25-2004, 12:04 PM i think im going to try and order the mats from mazda, anyone worrying about the pedals?? i think theyre gonna be a little slippy in the winter

I do much of my driving in leather soled shoes. I was somewhat concerned about slipping off the pedals at first but it hasn't been an issue wet or dry. When it gets sloppy outside and there's packed slush in the tread of your boots - that could be different.
Rotary Titus 10-25-2004, 07:35 PM the mats from mazda are slotted so there's lots of traction on them
WarpFactor 10-25-2004, 10:22 PM I just won one of those sets of winter mats from Ebay for $20US! THANK YOU!!! :D I can't wait to get them.

i just bidded on a set of those ones on EBAY too!...
6 days till its over..... anyone know if the seller will end it early and just sell me a set?
20 bucks... too good to be true hahaha
WarpFactor 10-25-2004, 11:57 PM If that's the same seller as the set I bid on, he probably has to wait until the auction is over. Hopefully the delivery on them isn't too long. I wonder how he's getting them so cheap? Oops, I better not ask... ;)

ya theres only one seller ;)
The auction says he will only ship within the US.... have you talked to him yet?
WarpFactor 10-26-2004, 12:18 AM I haven't talked to him, but I've paid via Paypal and sent him mailing instructions. I'm using one of those parcel services in Point Roberts, Washington. They only charge $2-3 to receive a package. They then call you and you go pick it up. Cheap cheap cheap!
Are you in BC? If so, check out www.thelettercarrier.com

WarpFactor 10-26-2004, 10:28 AM No, I didn't bother asking him if he would ship directly, just in case he was "anti-Canadian" eh. ;)
