Thumbs up New brake pads and shims = little brake dust

I took my car in for the TSB on squealing brakes. Changing the brake pads and shims has significantly reduced the amount of brake dust on the front wheels. Took me a good 15 minutes to clean my wheels with all the brake grime with soap and water...Now it only takes 5!

Good news - thanks for the update! How many miles have you drove with the new pads? How does the braking performance compare between the old and new pads?

Driven approximately 1500 miles since I got the new pads. As far as performance, there is no deviation between the new and the old from what I've experienced so far. There are complaints that the pads are "lighter" and may wear faster than what was on the car prior to. Either way, I'm completely satisfied...no squeaking and brake dust cake NO MO!

They may wear faster but some of us have some good mileage on our cars already. Thanks for the update.

What's up with your avatar, it looks like you are trying to whistle or sucking on an invisible straw?

This is what happens during downtime at work:

1) Grab a Canon Powershot G6

2) Take many a photos 1.5 feet away from face and click away.

3) Post the photo of trying to suck an orange through an "invisible straw".

Good times I tell ya.

My 8 will be one year old tomorrow....had the squealing....took it into the delaer and got it back today....he said that the chamfer on the brake pads had very little clearance and its surface was glazed and hence the squealing....they changed the brake pads and turned the rotor a little bit (~.15mm) to get the clearance....brakes feel the same...but no squealing so far....

also had the M flash done.....haven't had a chance to see what it really feels like....
