This is my first post. Can anyone tell me if the RX8 UK spec has cruise control?





Ordered a Titanium Grey/ Black Leather/ Hi Power 5th April.

Not in Europe it hasn't. We will have a steering wheel identical to that of Japan with just the audio system controls on the left side. Why it's standard in the US and not here is a good question. Even if you argue that we have little use for it in the UK it still adds value and probably doesn't cost that much to manufacture plus the factory is tooled up for it. Weird.

In Germany there will be three models: Renesis, Challenge and Revolution. I have been told that the top-line "Revolution" has leather and all that stuff AND crusie control. Maybe it's similar in U.K.? (But, again: the 192HP has no Xenon-lights!).

No. definitely no cruise control in the UK. We only have two models as shown here (http://www.mazdarx8.co.uk/upclose/specs/default.asp) and limited options.

Ahh, tnx for the link. Yes, the marketing strategy is definitively different at your place. In Germany, 16'' wheels are for the basic model.

How good do you know the G. autobahns? It is very difficult to use cruise control cause it is ever so crowded... Sometimes (psssst don't say THAT loud) I wished we HAD a speed limit. OTOH when it IS empty and you set your cruse control to 160 or 180 km/h that's pretty cool and you're doing lots of miles then..... :)

Thanks Lensman. I thought as much. Your point about already being tooled up is a good one and if the decision had been made to make it standard the additional unit cost on the basic price would be marginal.
It's a shame.

Prety useless in UK IMHO, great for USA tho.

Oh, OK. Can anyone confirm this please?

In the videos from Japan you see that the standard fit is w/o cruise control there.... As I said, in Germany you will have cruise control in the better configured cars, not with automatic, but with the manual 5- and 6-speed. This is my information so long (cruise control is becoming more popular in Germany now and not only to automatics, my Skoda has one as well (serial fit)).

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but have been reading it since Feb (2003). I am late entering the forum but have titbits of info from my local dealer. The salesman at my dealership is the accessories rep for the area apparently who informs me that;

1. Cruise control is an option on both manual and auto tranmissions.

2. Headlamp washers are a mandatory requirement if the car is fitted with xenon lights.

3. Rear parking sensors (parkatronic) are a £300 option.

Can you find out how much the aluminium side-strips (behind the front wheel arches) and the starter button are going to be ?

Morgan, I have just spoken to my dealer who now states, Cruise Control will NOT be a UK option at all. He tells me Mazda UK feels it is not warranted for the UK market, therefore keeping down the costs.

He still is trying to find out for me the following;

1. Cost of Aluminium sides for vents
2. Whether side indicators are standard clear for UK market (although he has hinted it may be orange, and clear might be an option).
3. Parkatronic confirmed at £232

When he has more info, he will get back to me. I do feel that although he is keen to obtain info, its Mazda UK that is holding him back.

Parkatronic confirmed at £232

This is a rear end radar beeping thing I presume? Potentially useful with the limited rear visibility but does it affect the body and interior?

Not sure Lensman but I've been told its a dealer fit option, not factory fit!
