View Full Version : 7440 single filament bulk-ok? oxyg2n 10-05-2004, 04:12 PM Do I need the 7440 (L/R blinkers) in dual filament bulb, or is single ok? oxyg2n 10-06-2004, 12:11 AM helps? :( ChuckRX8 10-06-2004, 02:30 AM You need the 7440, which only comes in single filament. The 7443 is the dual filament. I believe this is correct as that was one of my questions when looking to get chrome turn signals. You can verify it here or maybe even e-mail them: http://www.evostyle.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=EVOset350Z&Category_Code= D MENAC 7 10-06-2004, 07:11 PM Choke choke...$41!!!......thud! Ever hear of http://autolumination.com/ ? The 7440 is the turn signal lamp. However, you can turn a 7443 into a 7440 by bending the extra wire contacts over to the other side to get both filaments to light which would be brighter since you are talking about getting the chromed style lamp. Chromed style lamps are notoriously much darker than a clear lamp. They are hard to see during the daytime and are only decent at night. ChuckRX8 10-06-2004, 11:15 PM Choke choke...on the crappiest bulbs you could buy - autolumination ones. Numerous posts about how horrible they fit, how dim they were, couldn't disuade me. So I still bought a pair! Wow, what a mistake. I (along with many others) actually had to cut the base of it to try and make it fit because they are so cheap! I finally threw them away after many attempts. You shouldn't have to custom modify a freakin' light bulb! You get what you pay for and my EVOstyle.com bulbs are just straight up hot. D MENAC 7 10-07-2004, 12:47 AM Never had a problem with the chrome style fitting in my RX-8. Never had a problem with any of them going out or anything either. What were you trying to fit in there? Are you sure you had the lamp right side up? :) Every single one fit except for the 7440 LED lamps, for some reason they had some strange ears on them that wouldn't allow fitting them in right. However, with a little sand paper the ears came off very easily. On the other hand, the chrome fit just fine. I still have them in my front turn signals. If your EVOstyle.com bulbs are so hot, maybe you installed them backwards. :D truemagellen 10-07-2004, 07:45 AM yup I've NEVER had a problem with autolumination.com bulbs...also I'm slowly moving to LEDs...the brigh whites match the HID lighting Never had a problem with the chrome style fitting in my RX-8. Plus, I wasn't too keen on them being dim, as many have reported. The EVOstyle.com bulbs are as bright as stock. truemagellen 10-09-2004, 10:23 AM I finally gave the 7440 LEDs a shot...from autolumination.com they are amazing...brighter than stock! I've got bright white turn signals now that match the bright white led clear corners that match the bright white inner lights (parking light) and are close to the factory HIDs :) :) :) I'll post a pic forget stealth bulbs...a novelty really ChuckRX8 10-09-2004, 02:33 PM White lights are ricey. truemagellen 10-09-2004, 03:01 PM mazda rx8s are unriceable...because we have a sports car not a sedan loaded with gimmicks oh shit not the rice debate again ChuckRX8 10-10-2004, 07:07 PM truemagellen, did those autolumination.com bulbs work out? truemagellen 10-10-2004, 07:18 PM truemagellen, did those autolumination.com bulbs work out? well they look amazing...very bright (I would say brighter than stock especially at night...BUT they use lets power (not enough resistance) so the they cause the blinkers to blink triple time...this is a feature that alerts you if a bulb has died but with LEDs that isn't the problems...so I can either let them blink at high speed (some people like doing that) or get a LED load resistance equalizer which I don't like the fast blinking so I will have to do this...if I would have read the installation instructions on their website I would have figured it out... to tell you the truth I like them so much I'm going to order the equalizers, 2 amber LED 7440 turn signals for the rear, and bright white backup lights (then I may get around to bright red LED break lights but I'll see) just so you know I've been told by Dmenac7 that you won't need the load equalizers for the non blinking bulbs (non turn signal bulbs) http://autolumination.com/equalizers.htm D MENAC 7 10-10-2004, 09:28 PM Yeah, your rear end will end up looking like mine. :D No pun intended. I finally put the front LED turn signals in today as I had my front end off again. Sure, they blink like a bat out of hell but they look nice. I really don't mind the fast blinking since they get full bright before blinking. WIth Incadescents, they would never really reach full brightness blinking that fast. Besides, it will call attention to other drivers perhaps making it safer. Or else they will crash into person behind me as they end up having flashing light induced epileptic fit. :D I don't know why some people had to shave off the ears, even I thought that but, they went in without any trouble as I gave them a hard push. I had one come off a few weeks back when I didn't seat it right in my rear right tail light and it had been rolling around in there until I fished it out today. Since the front end was off, I just took off the headlights, unplugged them and installed the turn signal lamps that way. I am now all LED except the head lights, fog lights and brights. This photo shows the chromed incadescent on the right and the LED bright white on the left. truemagellen 10-10-2004, 09:47 PM hey D I didn't have to shave off the ears either! actually the stock bulbs did not fit well compared to these...oh and I'm ordering the equalizers :) (the fast blinking is a little to much for me :) truemagellen 10-10-2004, 09:49 PM love the license plate lighting! you want to make another and sell it to me (I already have one of the RX8 license plates (the one from trussville NOT ebay :)) ChuckRX8 10-11-2004, 01:01 AM The (unexpected) fast-blinking really makes your car rice. White turn signals and that flash really fast belong on a dropped Civic. But, of course, it is your car - so, to each his own. truemagellen 10-11-2004, 01:20 AM ah the rice debate...before my time...how old are you? jk the fast blink will be gone on tuesday night....and this isn't a civic, this is a RX for goodness sake :) smile love your car and treat it with goodies :) ChuckRX8 10-11-2004, 01:34 AM smile love your car and treat it with goodies :) ....classy-looking goodies. Amen. BigOLundh 07-12-2005, 06:35 PM Yeah, your rear end will end up looking like mine. :D No pun intended. I finally put the front LED turn signals in today as I had my front end off again. D Menac 7, Have you had any problems getting pulled over with the white turn signals? -HS truemagellen 07-13-2005, 12:18 AM D Menac 7, Have you had any problems getting pulled over with the white turn signals? -HS I've had no problems 6th months or more now white in the front though not the back...yet :) BigOLundh 07-13-2005, 05:00 PM In Texas having white in the front is Legal, but not the rear (i think). I am pretty sure white in the back will get me pulled over with the quickness. Then add the fact that i have no front plates, and we have a pretty hefty ticket. |
