My dealer just called me and new Brake Pads are available for the RX-8. They will be putting them on for free tomorrow. Has any found that these brakes are a lot quieter then the old ones? If not, I’ll let you know tomorrow!

Hey, would that stop the squeaking that i sometimes hear from my brakes? I started noticing the noises at around 7000+km. Didn't think to mention it to the dealer when i went in for service.

yeah the squeaking breaks is supposedly a common sound from RX-8s. I can't stand it. Luckily I had my break pads replaced last week and knock on wood, still no squeaking!!
talk to your dealer about it - Mazda IS aware of this problem!!

in another thread they said the new brake pads don't make sounds, but they aren't as powerful and create more brake dust.
if this is true, i'll stick with the stock pads -- OR wait until my existing pads are worn out before the swap ;)

Mine have never squeaked, so I don't know what that sounded like. But new pads from Mazda, and just maybe I did hear something... yeah, just last night, that's the ticket, I heard them squeaking just last night...

my brakes never squeak most probably during the break-in period, I stopped gently and the brake pads settled in evenly. When installing new pads, I try not to do any hard braking. And so far never have squeak problem for many years in different cars.

I've seen people complain about the squeek after 1000 miles, others after 20,000.
Mine just started at close to 6,000 miles. The squeek isn't bad, it's a high pitched sound but not all that loud. It doesn't bother me at this time, and only happens on moderate braking. At light and hard stops, there is no sound.

My first priority with brakes are stopping the car so if the noisy ones stop faster then I think I will stick with noisy. I would also recommend against upgrading to the Mazdaspeed pads. ;)
