I have 2 coats of Meguiars Gold Class on and have used Mother's Detailer between washes twice, second time being today. My nordic green looks beautiful right now. I have read some folks have been putting 3,4 coats of wax on. Seems like you could actually come to a point where you put too much wax on the car. I can't imagine it being much more glassy looking then mine is right now. Maybe its a mental thing?

Paint will only accept so much wax/polish.. anything else after what the paint will hold is wasted.. If you have 2 coats on already, you should be good. Just reapply as neccesary when the shine starts to dull..

Depends on the polish/wax. Some layer on top of each other and others remove some of the old as the new goes on.

Like philodox said.... you will be fine with two coats. I doubt you will see any dulling if you are using the detailer spray religously. I'd say slap another coat on every three months or so. Just detail spray it after every washing.

Zaino really brings out the best shine anywhere from the 4th to 6th coat. After that it is just preference. I do know people that have put on over 100 coats of Zaino.

I just got a bottle of an in-between wax type was made by Turtle. It's a real mild wax from what I understand. You spray it on and do a light buff. I have not read much into it yet (it was a free for registering at a car show). The stuff worked pretty well however...

I can't speak for all products out there, but there are select products that this does not pertain too. The problem is, some polishes/waxes when layered or stacked will actually seal up the clear coat not allowing it to breathe. Others do not do this.

I'm a firm believer in Zaino and have a pretty good knowledge of it. It does not penetrate the clear coat. No matter how many coats of Zaino you decide to put on, it will still allow the clear coat to breath. Another huge selling point for Zaino is that Z1, Z2, Z5, Z6, and Z7 all compliment each other and each one I mentioned contains polish in them. None of them remove any of the Zaino previously applied.

I just tend to be skeptical of most products. I mean, haven't we all see the Z-Max (or whoever it was) infomertial with a Supra driving around with no oil in it's engine? lol

I've been told that by automotive painters, not wax manufactures.

I just bought 2 bottles of NXT, and according to the bottle it will "the best wax you have ever used".
Thats how long it really lasts?

i use NXT dues to its ease of application. once some of the weather clears up here i'm gonna switch to Zaino. not that impressed with the NXT after a couple of weeks.

Yes, I have definitely heard positive stories about the longevity of Zaino, though I have never used it. I checked their website last night, and their prices are not as bad as I thought they would be. Around $18-20, if my memory serves me correctly. That's double/triple the price of most mass-produced polishes/waxes, but if it lasts five times as long, it might be worth looking further into.

Also, Bean, I'm sorry your NXT experience isn't great. What is your goal, though? Durability? Ease of use? Gloss? Depth? I ask because NXT, like all other $15-or-less waxes, will not be as durable (3-6 weeks), although testimonials around here and on detailing forums seem to be that as far as gloss goes, it rivals Zaino. Since I've never used Zaino, I can't compare the two (although you might check out this thread (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=39438)), but I find NXT to be very easy to use and apply. If shine is your goal, you might try applying a polish/glaze prior to waxing (if you aren't already), or, as has been suggested before, topping NXT with s100 (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=40565). Also, layering the NXT, with no more than three layers, can be very beneficial for you.

When I first got zaino, I got the $120 kit that had pretty much everything.

I just ordered more zaino, this time I bought two bottles of their clear coat polish, two of their spray stuff, and two bottles of the car wash liquid. Add in shipping and it was around $60, but should last me over a year.
