Hey guys, I've been searching this site for hours and gave up. I know that I want to use the Redline Transmission Oil but keep getting confused. I went to store around me any everything and still can't find it.

Do I need to use the Redlilne 75W90 Tans Oil or the Redline MT-90 Trans Oil?

MT-90 for trans, it does say 75W90 on the side of it. THen for the dif, u need 75W90 gear oil. hope this helps u

You ordered just 1 qrt each? I thought it was around 1.8 and 1.5 qrts that you would need?

you only need 2 of each. four total.

I just bought 2 quarts of each today, but not really ready to put it in yet since I only have 1600 miles. I'm gonna wait til it hits 2500 miles. Hope it really does make a difference, cuz shifting from first to second is rather rough and I wouldn't mind a little less vibraion from the shifter.

I put Royal Purple MaxGear in my tranny & diff yesterday and I notice the difference already. Much improved!!...

Do you have to change the tranny oil and the diff oil? I'm new to this and have never done it thats why I'm acting like I'm stupid on the subject but thanks for all the help guys!

People that do this feel it's best to get rid of the fluid used during the first couple thousand miles of driving.

Page 8-4 of the manual change the fluid after 100,000 miles normal driving,
60,000 harsh driving.
Anything under $10.00 a Qt is a fair price for high-end fluid.

I paid $9.50 a quart for each at a Perforance Racing & Engineering outlet. Had the dealer install. Listed time .40 each, dealer shop rate $78.00 per hour x .80 = $62.40. Didn't charge for supplying new crush washers.

btw, I bought my redline fluids from a guy on ebay, it was about $6.60 per quart.

check out the DIY and another thread that shows how to do it. It took me about an hour and half. first time i ever did it. hardest part was filling it back since the thing i bought from pepboys sucked. i just used tubing to fill it in.

Yeah, a good length(4' maybe) of some plastic tubing & funnel(you can buy at petstores that sell aquarium products if u cant find it elsewhere) is the easiest way to do it.

The used 75w90 for the rear differential SMELLS!!!, and I mean totally freaking REAKS!!! It would be best if you planned out some sealed container to place it in before you began, and try to not spill any on the floor, or on you, cause that stuff not only stinks, but is goopy as hell. Serious, the closest thing i can relate the smell of the used oil to is ether.

Also, there is extremely little clearance between the upper 23mm bolt of the differential and the chassis/exhaust, your ratchet might not fit, and even if it does, it might get stuck. I had to rip the hell out of the bolt to dislodge the wrench from the bottom of the car. Now it is kind of stripped. But I will probably replace it in about 30k miles, and it doesnt leak, so im not immediatly worried about it.

What size tubing did you all use and how long was it?

Get 1/2" clear tubing from Lowe's. Length, I'd say 5'. You can always trim it down if it is too long for you. I used 6', which was way more than needed, but didn't present a problem.

I used a 15/16 ring spanner on all the drain/fill plugs on the diff and gearbox. Easy access to all and no trouble undoing them or tightening them again either. Piece of cake.

I used a 1/2" drive 23 mm standard length socket with no problems at all. I do remember my 23 mm deep socket was too long. I don't recall reading any issues with this filler plug before yours ....... :confused:
