I know some of you are planning on storing your 8 for the winter and I'm going to be doing the same. Do any of you know of a good place in Oshawa/Toronto area that has indoor car storage? Preferable no access storage. If you do, please let me know.

Speaking of storage, what needs to be done pre and post storage so that it starts up OK next spring?

I stored mine outside last year. All I did was add Stabil, removed the battery and put on a breathable car cover.

I spent the rest of the winter praying for an early spring :)

Mine slept in my garage, didn't do a thing to it exept roll it a couple of time during winter so tires didn't get a flat spot, When spring arrived , opened garage door turn key , AND ZOOM ZOOM...

Essential Speed in Cambridge (about 30 minutes west of Mississauga) offers no-access storage during the winter.

Thanks Amur. Unfortuneately I can' t afford a beater car this year, so the 8's gonna stay home and go to sleep. I'll definately keep them in mind for next year or if anyone asks.

IMHO storing your car for the winter can cause more problems than its worth (if done wrong). You have to drain the fuilds, add fuel preservatives, put it on blocks to preserve the suspention...etc.

My suggestion will be to get it rust-proofed and leave it in a garage or covered. Than take it for a 15 minute (or longer) drive at least once a week on a day with no snow. Remeber the salt alone doesn't cause rust, its moisture and salt. So try to keep it dry and when you get it washed in the winter dry it well.

Myself. I'm storing it at the end of this month. Now I only take it when it's sunny outside to keep the 8 clean.... I'm going to miss it, how much for therapy ;-)

Mine is going away at the end of the month too. Then it goes inside the garage and will get detailed (from top to bottom) and then covered.
The weather looks like it's going to hold off until then. This year I'm taking the battery out and putting it inside the house (off the ground). If I feel energetic, I'm probably going to paint the calipers/rotor hubs black as a preventative thing, but we'll see.

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't it bad for the engine to have it sit without use for such a long time?

No, it won't hurt it as long as the car is stored properly. Contrary to popular belief starting the engine up every week or so isn't good for the car either as all the oil fully drains to the pan and takes longer to pump it up and into the engine. Also starting it up and letting it run only heats up the engine/exhaust components. This isn't good as the transmission and driveline are cold and the engine is hot. So they are expanding/contracting at different rates.

Why store now, I don't store anything until late november, there will still be some 10+ degree days at the end of Nov. When the salt hits the car goes away.
