We only have around 180 hp but we still tied the nissan in that 5th gear race track test. I say we have a exceptional car.

For that to be a fact, don't we all need to have it proven first?

There is still much doubt about the dynos being able to accurately test the rx-8.

well... i whooped 4 modded DSMs at once pretty badly over the weekend... admist the noises of fart pipes and BOVs i was silently laughing at the people who think they only have 170rwhp...

If they have 170hp then they are way slower than a Eclispe GT.

More like a Volkswagon bug. Of course I'm talking about the MT not Auto.
And If it is 170hp everything would be passing them on the freeway.

There are so many parameters surrounding your question. Even dynos measure differently.

These are new "facts" how, I've said from the first day I drove an RX-8 that there is no way it has the advertised HP, most in the know will agree. But there are still a lot of people in denial and think it's actually putting out 238bhp (I.E. 200ish to the wheels) and believe Mazda's nonsense and others nonsense that it can't be dynoed properly. By the way that was Topgear. This issue has been played out so many times on these forums and I got flamed like mad when I said there was no way it was making 247hp, and now I get flamed for saying it's not making 238hp. Oh well... I agree it's still a great car but no way in hell it's making the advertised HP.

Want to know how Mazda came up with 238 as a number (just a hypothesis of mine)? The car was originally presold with 250hp, a car can have up to a 5% difference from advertised HP before people can take legal action. Do the math, 238 right under 5%, 239 just over 5%.

P.S. Why the hell is this in competition racing, this section is for G-tech runs! ;)
