Thumbs up Drove the new Cadillac STS today!

As is the norm for a new product launch, Cadillac treated us to a day of classroom learning, followed by a rigorous hands-on with the new STS. :D

After driving on city streets, then autocrossing it along with the 530i, LS 430 and E500, I'm convinced that it is the best all-around vehicle of Cadillac's new lineup.

The style is fantastic, much more original and upscale than the imports. I was impressed with the acceleration and handling (no big suprise, considering the excellent Northstar engine), but what really blew me away was the fit and finish inside and out. From panel gaps to materials, you wouldn't believe that you were looking at an American car; It's that good. I'm ecstatic that GM has finally delivered on its promise to build a vehicle that actually challenges the imports, not only on performance, but quality as well.

A+, everyone should check one out in person when they hit showrooms. (Early September)

The "NorthStar" is a V8.

Hey Tony, I agree. The new STS has far better styling than any of the aformentioned!!

But...I'd never give up the 8!! What about you?

The CTS interior is actually designed and built less than a half-mile from my house.

True fact.

Peace

I really like that new STS and I usually HATE american cars, especially GM. Maybe I'll pick one up used when the value plummets.

I'll pass on the STS, the CTS is growing on me. I'm more interested in the XLR-V thats coming.

Irish8; The CTS is a great car, too. I would not give up my 8 for one, except for a CTS-V. The massive torque is just too addictive, but at $52K, I'm happy with the 8.

KCPrelude; If the value of the STS turns out to be anything like the CTS, we'll have a hard time finding a cheap used one. Used CTSs still bring top dollar.

rx8_250f; I drove both the 4.6L Northstar VVT and the 3.6L VVT. Both excellent engines, but the Northstar is by far my favorite. The 3.6 does an admirable job, but is better suited to the CTS than here.
