Wing 03-31-2003, 10:21 AM Nice pics, the trunk looks big enough for everyday use for me! Lensman 03-31-2003, 10:24 AM It's a great car, I have one on order, it's beautiful, but like it or not: that engine compartment screams "WASHING MACHINE!" zoom44 03-31-2003, 12:35 PM thanks for those pics Jtek! the one had cloth seats. were the insert areas as grey as they look in the photos? what was your impression of the cloth seats in general. JTek_55 03-31-2003, 02:29 PM Originally posted by zoom44 thanks for those pics Jtek! the one had cloth seats. were the insert areas as grey as they look in the photos? what was your impression of the cloth seats in general. To be honest, I REALLY did not like the cloth seats. They really seemed to cheapen the look of the interior. As far as I could tell, the seats looked gray and black. Not two shades of black. Keep in mind though, these were hand-built pre-production cars. The seat color and/or style may very well change on the production units. I hope it does... SoulShifter 04-01-2003, 03:40 AM Man, how come you luck guys in the USA get to see the puppy up close and personal? We don't seem to get any kind of look-in at all here in the UK... 95% of Mazda dealers haven't even seen one yet... crazy! Lensman 04-01-2003, 04:24 AM I phoned my dealer a week ago and the woman who answered didn't even know what an RX-8 is let alone how to see one! Puppy1 04-01-2003, 09:15 AM Originally posted by SoulShifter We don't seem to get any kind of look-in at all here in the UK... 95% of Mazda dealers haven't even seen one yet... crazy! 98% of the US Mazda dealers haven't bothered to see one either.:p GodWhomIsMike 04-01-2003, 12:38 PM JTek_55, What was your impression of the Red and black interior? Is there a climate control or is it just a external temperature display? I noticed the pic of the car revved to almost 9K,. how does it sound? Was there a automatic version on display there? If yes, what were your impressions? Any idea of the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times of the automatic version? ok last question, I noticed that you own a TT - how is that car? I am considering either going with the TT or the 8. ok that sould be good for now. Thanks man. Awesome pictures TT2RX8 04-01-2003, 12:51 PM Hi JTek_55 I also own a TT and have pre order an Rx8 (my lease for the TT ending in july). Did you have a chance to drive the RX-8. How does it compare to the TT, especially on the accelaration side and torque? Thank's JTek_55 04-01-2003, 02:33 PM Ok, where to start... I don't know how the TT and RX-8 compare as far as speed goes. I think I have heard that while the TT has more torque, the RX-8 is a tad bit faster. I think the TT's interior is a little better looking and feeling than the RX-8's, but the RX-8 is very nice; not only for a japanese car but for any car out there... There was no climate control on either of these cars, nor was there a 6-CD changer. The temp that is shown is the outside temp. (Hey, it's Florida.:)) When the car was revved to 9k it was REALLY quiet. Even more quiet than I thought it would be after seeing some people post about it. The red and black interior is nice. I would get tired of it very quickly but that is just my personal taste. The RX-8 I had on order was all black leather. I just can't do the red... There were no automatics there, sorry. Umm, I think the question of TT or RX-8 comes down to real personal choice. They are both great cars. The TT (new) is MUCH more expensive and you don't get the 4 seats or doors. With the RX-8 you get rotary power and styling to boot. However, with thet TT you get a turbo-intercooled engine along with Audi workmanship and service. It's really a personal decision. I love my TT though. It's pretty amazing, the car has been out for years, yet I get complete strangers staring at it and telling me what a nice car it is. It drives like a dream and it has that tight, heavy German feel to it. Oh yeah, and the Bose system in it is top notch. And it CAME WITH a 6CD changer! J/K guys... :) Honestly, I think the main reason I bought the TT instead of the RX-8 is that at this point in my life, I don't have to get a car that has performance AND practicality. I'm 23 and I don't have any kids. Naturally, the 2 seater roadster made more sense to me. It just depends on your situation. Lensman 04-01-2003, 02:51 PM Likewise: no kids, can get any car I want within my price range. 350Z ordered as well as the RX-8 but I will almost certainly buy the Mazda because it is a great all round package. The seats are irrelevant and just an added bonus (or curse depending on your point of view). If the Z came with sat-nav (UK) and a decent audio system and some soundproofing and audio controls on the wheel and a quieter engine then who knows. But it doesn't... JMoore010 04-02-2003, 01:02 PM As I have said in other posts I like the 2 seat idea a little better just for the mere fact of the less weight and sportier feel. I guess thats why I woould choose the 350Z over the G35 coupe. Im sure the 2 extra seats will come in handy if i ever get an 8 :p JMoore010 04-02-2003, 01:04 PM Oh yeah.......thanx for the pics heh ;) . TiRX8 04-02-2003, 04:50 PM I believe the back seats are just a bonus. This shape looks like an Italian product. Thats what attracted me to this vehicle in the first place. The 350Z is nothing to write home about. It has bland styling and resembles many current Nissans. The Mazda is fresh and different. I opted for mine over a BMW 330ci. |
