View Full Version : anyone around buffalo? scoutwalker 07-19-2004, 07:52 PM i live in silver creek and work in buffalo and have not seen another 8 since i got mine 2 months ago. i know im not the only one anyone up for a cruise? jimbo912 07-27-2004, 07:50 AM HI Scout, I live in Williamsville and have a grey 8 which I've owned for 9 months. Just got back from Finger Lakes. Some nice driving areas. I know of only 1 other person on this board from this area, but have seen 4 other 8s in last 3 months. Keep in touch, off to work. cwilliams3 08-07-2004, 11:03 AM I have a Blue 8, and live near Rochester..... TJLack 09-01-2004, 12:14 PM Unless something goes terribly wrong, I am picking up my new RX-8 on Labor Day. Had to go to a dealer in Columbus to get what I wanted, but well worth the road trip as I got at $200 over invoice and exactly the options I wanted without waiting for an order to come in! Hopefully the buyers order he is faxing in a few hours won't have any nasty surprises (already had that experience once with another dealer). I haven't seen too many in Buffalo. Would definitely be up for a rally or other event if others were interested. Ted jimbo912 09-03-2004, 05:25 PM TJ I have the same 8 only diff. is black on black interior. Great choice!! Enjoy TJLack 09-07-2004, 08:37 AM Thanks. Picked up the car yesterday in Columbus, OH. Great weekend for a drive. I love the car - can't wait for breakin period to be over so I can rev over 4000 RPM! Had to drop the spoiler - the dealer was supposed to add but couldn't get the part in time for delivery. I'll have to see if I want to add later on - car looks great without it though! TJLack 09-07-2004, 08:41 AM One more... TJLack 09-07-2004, 08:42 AM Here is a site that had some RX-8 recommended break-in procedures - I'm going to follow their recommendations. https://www.racingbeat.com/RX8%20Break%20in.htm MoLz 01-10-2005, 02:43 AM I have a Titanium gray and live in Rochester too... TJLack 01-10-2005, 01:43 PM welcome! i am rx-8-less for now - will bring her back out in march or april. you driving yours through our wonderful winter? the weather really hasn't been that bad - there have been several days i wished i had it on the road... cwilliams3 01-10-2005, 07:21 PM I put mine away Oct 2nd and have been going through serious withdrawl and the mild weather isn't helping...I can't count the times I have said "good day to drive the rx8" (Actualy started counting the days till I get it out of storage...96) since it is safely locked away in a warehouse. So all I have are lots of pictures...I don't know about in Buffalo, but here, there aren't too many 8's on the road. I knew one guy who had one just like mine in Rochester but he has since moved. Spring cannot come soon enough! TJLack 01-11-2005, 08:49 AM "Spring cannot come soon enough" I agree! I can get at my car (brother in law's garage) but I "withdrew it from use" with my insurance in early Dec which lets me keep the plates on but drops the premium 75%. I can call them and put it back on the road, but you can only do that once per season! Still, I've been tempted a few times. I think I've only seen 2 or 3 RX-8's in Buffalo...one plus is you get great reactions from folks when you drive it... Did you do your clear corners and calipers yourself? Shamblerock 01-11-2005, 09:24 AM You guys got to come over the border this summer and we could have a meet in Niagara or Toronto! Its only like an hour away and your dollar is worth a buck and a quarter up here in Toronto. Just think of the great deals you can get! I think it would be cool if a whole bunch of us from the north and south of the border got together. cwilliams3 01-11-2005, 09:45 AM TJ I did do the calipers myself with the use of my Girlfried's uncle's lift..I have a thread on here that I posted some pics I will find it and put a link in here for ya to check out. Caliper thread here (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=42061&highlight=painted+blue+calipers) I ordered the Clear corners from Rotary Extreme but I did that after the car was put away. The install looks extremly easy, there is a thread in the DIY section of the tech garage, I recomend checking it out. Shamblerock, once the weather changes I am definitely interested in taking the trip up north to check out some other people's 8's stay in touch and hopefully we can get a few people together!! TJLack 01-11-2005, 10:05 AM I would also be very interested in a North American rally! I had posted my interest in the Canada forum - I just missed one they had around the time I got my car... Shamblerock 01-11-2005, 12:19 PM Very cool. We'll set it up for sure once the weather gets better. I'm pretty sure I can get 1/2 dozen guys at least out to a meet with you guys. JeSteRz 02-25-2005, 12:05 AM hey guys... just wanted to say hi... i dont actually own an rx-8 but i work at towne mazda out in OP/West Seneca, so i pretty much stand around all day and talk to people about them..... did any of you guys buy your rx-8s from there? I work in their showroom but im not a sales rep. so if you guys ever need anything let me know. my ext is 105..... my name is Kevin Just to let you guys know that may be in the market.... we just got in an 05 Shinka edition RX-8 in an auto tranny and a manual one will be in in about 2-3 weeks. Also we have some crazy incentives going on the 2004s like up to 6k in discounts and rebates. as low as around 20k depending on options. TJLack 02-27-2005, 10:08 PM I tried to buy one from you guys, but unless I wanted what you had on the lot there was little interest in working with me. I ended up finding what I wanted in Columbus OH and picked it up myself. I may stop by to see the Shinka... JeSteRz 03-01-2005, 11:51 PM Yea... honestly, its hard to get some mazdas on dealer trades, nobody wants to put miles on these things before they sell em so they want em to be flatbedded around. Thats kinda odd tho that they didnt really want to trade for one... we still have about 6-7 2004s in storage tho, so hes lookin to give these things away now. (which is prolly another reason he wanted you to take something off the lot). Was it a matter of color? cause i know we dont have a titanium gray one around. But yea.. stop in and check the shinka out, its pretty hot, we got this guy in our detail dept that developed some kinda 3 stage wax that makes these cars appear :wet: all the time, looks awsome on it! TJLack 03-02-2005, 10:48 PM was all about the color - i wanted what i wanted, which was a tit gray with the black / red interior and all options except the nav system. take care. JeSteRz 03-05-2005, 10:36 PM Oh i dont blame ya... if your gunna invest the money in the car i would want exactly what i want too. Im sorry they didnt help you out more, Im new to the dealership and i dont even sell cars there. |
