View Full Version : New shift knob (pics)
tpschar 07-15-2004, 07:41 PM Just got my new shift knob, courtesy of the the Knobmeister. It's mahogany, with the rotary symbol etched into it. It matches the interior really well. I love it!

(This is my first post with pics, hope it worked!)
mikeb 07-15-2004, 07:51 PM how much was that?
SuPerHerO::tOnY 07-15-2004, 08:02 PM interesting
uhhhhhh....the nicest thing i can say is that it's, well, different.
tpschar 07-15-2004, 08:07 PM 60 bucks, engraved.
how much was that?
my10ae 07-15-2004, 08:55 PM Very nice shift knob Tom. The Knobmeister is very well known in the Miata community and does excellent work. I had him make up the first RX-8 laser cut license plate surrounds for me :)

EatMyBanana 07-15-2004, 09:13 PM I think it looks great with the leather.Very tasteful IMO.
Good Knob Job.
djmano 07-16-2004, 03:24 AM anybody else got a woody? sorry for the lame joke....its late.
DreRX8 07-16-2004, 09:43 AM That is really rich--I like it.
Very nice.. Looks like the knob in the new Carrera GT.
8's enough 07-23-2004, 10:08 AM looks good ,know you can polish your knob
Omicron 07-23-2004, 10:12 AM Looks nice. How's the (I assume) lighter weight affect the shift feel?
epitrochoid 07-24-2004, 12:25 AM not a huge fan of the chapappy interior...but that knob compliments is nicely
tpschar 07-26-2004, 08:45 AM Well, it's definitely different. I didn't realize how heavy the stock knob really is until I took it off! I would say it's a little notchier, but some shifts (like 4-5) are easier (less clumsy?). Less effort required overall, and you can shift with two or three fingers and a light touch. It took me a few days, but I decided I prefer it over the stock knob.
Looks nice. How's the (I assume) lighter weight affect the shift feel?
\\Konig\\ 07-26-2004, 03:51 PM IMO it matches very well with the interior. The engraving looks good too.
eh, nice.. but not for me though... but to each his own
Mr. T-UP 08-02-2004, 05:46 PM Mahagoni? (is mahogany the english word??)
Sounds like MERCEDES BENZ!
Or....... Oltimer?
Or.....Very British? Is the Car Green painted?
No way...i don`t like it.......the RX is a SPORT CAR! Not a Limo!!!
If the knob will be in aluminium or another METAL material with the ornament (symbol) i will give 10 points for the Knobmeister!!!
The symbol is PERFECT....but woody-style????
tpschar 08-03-2004, 07:34 AM Heh! Yes, my car's green, with the black and tan interior. (Mmmm, black and tan...)
Thanks for your comments. The knob really does fit the look of the interior. I wasn't interested in getting a metal knob that gets cold and hot. The Knobmeister can definitely do both, though!
Tom
Kel Rx8 08-03-2004, 07:44 AM IMO it matches very well with the interior. The engraving looks good too.
i second that goes perfect with interior.
BigMoeTaki 08-03-2004, 05:19 PM Nice knob, especially if the color matches the tan/brown leather.
Nemesis8 08-03-2004, 05:23 PM It would be cool to fill the engraving with something metallic also.
