Pre-Sell Job 1- next month

Hi Guys

Looks like the June delivery date is definitely it. The pre-sale cars will be produced next month,so we are probably all looking at June deliveries. Here is a paste of an email I just received from rx8orders:

Please understand that I cannot confirm an actual ETA for your specific RX-8. I can only give the production schedule timeline that we have been provided. There is a very limited production beginning this month, but these units are only for dealer training and various press events. Pre-Sell production units will actually begin next month. Please also keep in mind that if dealerships placed stock orders during the pre-sell period, those units will arrive at the same pace as actual pre-orders.

i don't know if they have changed their story or if they just misled us. they initially said@mid march(and some reports said specifically march 17th) for the start of prod. for the USA. they didn't mention then that it would be a small run for dealer "training" and press events. i'm all for more reviews but i think the press has had ample seat time now

The press have only had pre-production cars to test. I'm looking forward to thier reviews of the production model!:D

I was talking with the Ops Manager at the dealership where I ordered my RX-8. He was on a 2 hour conference call with Mazda today and 30 seconds was devoted to the RX8

"The US production RX8s will start assembly next week" (24 March 2003)

Also, his list of pre-oders all show June delivery, if a date is shown at all. (Mine is still TBD

) For folks in my part of the country, all cars come into port at Newark NJ. The cruise will take exactly 30 days once they leave Japan. And up to two weeks from port to dealer. Emissions contol will be added, tested and passed before each car is allowed to leave the port.
