Just got the car back from the dealer that replaced my clutch which exploded. While they were in there I had them install the SR Motorsports 9.75 lb flywheel.

It's rainy down hear so I did not get to put it through the full paces. Fist impressions:

1. Wow. The engine really seams to be rev happy (as if it didn't already). Car seems to be quicker, but as stated previously not much testing can be done when the roads are slick.

2. Drive ability: It took no time to get used to the different feel. Did not even come close to stalling the car on the way home from the dealer in stop-n-go I-10 traffic.

3. Clutch feels easier to use. Not sure if this is because I got a new clutch or not.

4. Sound of the car. I know there have been discussions with a few members on this forum whether or not flywheels change the sound of the car. Before getting the flywheel I did not think it would, but there seems to be a slight change. Can't quite put my finger on it.

I'll let you know how it goes once it dries up around here and when I get my CZ back in.

glad you like it, you need to come out to the rx7/rx8 club meetings, i'd love to see it and the CZ box in action.

Some additional flywheel comments…

OK, got home installed CZ again and took it for a few runs.

I can’t really tell if the car is actually quicker 0-60 or ¼ mile. Would have to take to track to find out.

However after doing a few runs, driving out to dinner etc. The car seems much lighter—especially from first gear and second gear. A very big difference!

The car does not seem to “bog down” as much. Example: Say I’m taking a slow 90 degree turn in second. After I complete the turn and I press the accelerator the car seems to come alive faster.

Sound. My car (engine) seems to be quieter now. Is this possible?

There are absolutely no drivability issues. If anything the car is easier to drive—believe it or not.

It’s definitely a recommend mod from my point of view.

PS. Comments about my car. Fast 2-3 shifts still seem kind of notchy. Also, quick 3-4 made a slight grind which I was not happy about. This was the same shift when my clutch exploded.

The dealer was already in there replacing my clutch so labor was $0. Expect to pay $350 to $900 otherwise—depending on who does the install.

The flywheel itself was around $600.
