But y'know, a Mazda6 vert would actually be a pretty cool car... KayakDaddy 03-09-2003, 06:08 PM That is a nice looking concept, but I hope it's not the next Miata. The MX-5 was MGB type retro, before retro was so "in". I hope they go even more retro with then next one. I'd love to see them go for a modern version of a Jaguar E-type or MG TD. Midnight Flyer 03-10-2003, 10:08 AM So far, other then a whole bunch of photoshop pics floating around the web, I think this is the 5th or 6th that I have seen there is no solid info on the NC MX5. Over on Miata.Net someone posts a new thread every month of so. On the last thread Bwob chimed in and said not to expect any info for at least a year or two, the time it will take for Mazda to pay off the investment in the NB. He did mention that the current head designer for the NC wanted to stick to the Miata roots so we will see where that leads. ZoomZoomH 03-10-2003, 11:17 AM Originally posted by Midnight Flyer He did mention that the current head designer for the NC wanted to stick to the Miata roots so we will see where that leads. does that mean people with 35+ waist size need not apply??? :D Midnight Flyer 03-11-2003, 09:41 AM Hey, I'm size 37 and I fit just fine. We have a guy in our club that weighs in at over 250 and he autoxes in his. I have also had a friend in my car who weighed in at close to 300, although he could not do up the seat belt. The biggest problem with the Miata is not size around but height. I am 5'11" and my forhead is in the slip stream above the windshield blowing what I have left of my hair. Guys who are 6+ take padding out of the seats to get more room. Anyone over 5'9" takes the visors off to see the road ahead. Stop lights are not an issue as you can just look over the windshield. cueball 03-15-2003, 11:03 PM Takeing a closer look at those wheels, I think they are from the first RX8 concept. http://www.edmunds.com/media/news/concept.car/mazda.rx8/mazda.rx8.f3-4.500.jpg Gord96BRG 03-19-2003, 11:41 PM That photo is just a photoshop job on the Mazda6 MPS show car. It has absolutely nothing to do with the NC Miata. According to sources, the NC will remain small (but slightly larger than the NB), light (no heavier than NB), and will use the 2.0 or 2.3 version of the Mazda6 4 banger (output unknown yet) in a new RWD platform (NOT RX-8 based, but maybe sharing some RX-8 suspension components). It sure won't be sharing anything aside from the engine with the FWD Mazda6!! Regards, Gordon |
