View Full Version : *** VAN MEET JUNE 27th ***
Inconsequential 05-24-2004, 07:57 PM This is the best possible day for me, as it hits at the end of my vacation, and I am going to the interior for the week, and can be back for this day. Otherwise, I am booked all other weekends at work, yay :(.
Unless we are willing to do this on the 21st, but I am worried about those of us with families and work as well.
The plans so far are pretty simple. Go for dinner, then go for a drive up through the Duffy Lake area.
If anyone can supply a map of where we would be going on this ride, it would be very helpful.
As well, and suggestions on where to go for dinner? This as well would be great.
If we have no suggestions on this, then we will pick a place which is more central to go to the drive afterwards. So please, if there is somethign you would prefer avoiding food wise, then make a suggestion and lets see how it goes.
Thanks for your time and suggestions, it will help make this work best for all of us, and allow us all to enjoy our meets.
HiTMaNN 05-25-2004, 05:09 AM i call bringing my biatch
Zedcaster 05-25-2004, 06:56 PM This is a site I found with a map of the Duffey Lake loop.

HiTMaNN 05-25-2004, 07:07 PM http://members.shaw.ca/bjs1/duffy_lake_loop.htm

Zedcaster 05-25-2004, 07:18 PM Thanks H, fixed the link (too many http's!!)
HiTMaNN 05-25-2004, 07:21 PM wow isnt that shamu with a gun?
Inconsequential 05-25-2004, 07:42 PM Damn, that looks like a hell of a drive, definitely looking forward to it.
HiTMaNN 05-25-2004, 07:47 PM it looks cool :D

Yep.
Inconsequential 05-26-2004, 01:38 AM interesting choice in avatars, I should think about getting one soon.
HiTMaNN 05-26-2004, 03:00 AM we need a bc avatar for our members only
Zedcaster 05-26-2004, 02:13 PM You know, that dorsal fin on the back of the killer whale is kind of triangular... now if I were an artist maybe it could be made to look more like a rotor. Hmmm any takers? Might be a logo in there somewhere.
PS my avatar is the official mascot for the Shooting events at the 94 Commonwealth Games in Victoria
Inconsequential 05-26-2004, 09:52 PM It is making me think of Indian art, like the orca style, with rotors incorporated into the styling? any thoughts? or anyone good with photoshop?
I will see if I can find a pic of some art like it, and try to draw a temporary idea thing, hehe, If I can find a pic of it
Inconsequential 05-30-2004, 12:10 AM So far there seems to be no complaints about doing it on the night of the 27th, if it is better earlier, please post and let us know, and we can find a time which works for all of us, I would say we meet aroun 4pm - 5pm, where I am unsure as yet, maybe we will have in finalized before I go on vacation, if not, then I will probably get Dannobre, Rotary, or BIU to help finish the organizing for me, since I will be out of touch for over a week at that point, but hopefulyl I can get online and check it out when I am away, Or I will take soem pics of the Coquihalla and get more of yas interested in a weekend trip to the interior later in the summer.
Inconsequential 06-02-2004, 01:56 AM A couple of things we need to figure out here, first, What time should we meet up, and where to meet?
We talked earlier, and agree it is a hefty drive, but a worhtwhile one. Food will be needed most likely, hehe
Wak, I liked your ideas for being the passenger photo man, if ya want, my car is being volunteered as the mobile photo stand, hehe
I am thinking if it takes approx 5-6 hours drive, seems longer than I thought it would be, but we should take into account stops for pics, food, pitstops, etc... Maybe noon or in the earlier part of the afternoon to meet up then begin the fun run, well, please, post thoughts and comments, hopefully, we can get it set up so as to make everybody happy.
Rotary Titus 06-02-2004, 02:12 AM I'm got time off work 26, 27, and 28 so anytime should be fine for me :)
Inconsequential 06-02-2004, 02:53 AM Now that is wht I want to hear :)
Just try not to lose us by driving too fast.
Rotary Titus 06-02-2004, 03:27 AM well I did the exact same loop a few weeks back (my other thread with pics) and I left richmond at around 1pm and got home at 11pm so yea it's pretty much a 10 hr drive! And I only stopped for a few pictures and a quick cheeseburger combo at Dairy Queen in Lyntton. So it'd probably be best if we left mid morning like around 9 or 10am?
and, how can I lose fellow 8s? :p

Enzolor 06-02-2004, 11:52 AM Holy crap 10 hours!
I'm thinking twice about this trip.. as fun as it sounds.
Rotary Titus 06-02-2004, 01:27 PM well I did the cache creek loop instead of taking the #12 which is like an hr or so longer!
umm.... crap.... ok I'll keep quiet now :p
HiTMaNN 06-02-2004, 03:18 PM sounds coool!i dont know if i can keep up tho
Inconsequential 06-02-2004, 04:33 PM Well, the basic thing is, if someone has anyother suggestions on a nice scenic drive with little traffic much like this one, suggest away and who knows ,hehe
HiTMaNN 06-02-2004, 07:04 PM just drive slow so i can keep up
 :o :(
Inconsequential 06-02-2004, 09:22 PM For anyone who hasnt come out to a meet with us, or those who wish to come out again this time, please let me know either through pm's or by posting in this thread, so we can get it organized at the earliest possible date so as to allow for all possibilities, such as figuring meeting place, most likely places to stop on the way, where for lunch, etc...
The sooner we get an idea of how many people are interested the easier it will be to plan.
Inconsequential 06-02-2004, 09:23 PM Added bonus, you can all check out the Greddy exhaust on Dan's car, and we can see how Canzoomers stage one is, once he gets it installed, should be nice to see :)

I'm not sure if it will work out since my wife will be in California and my bosses will be out of town till after the 4th of July. If I can swing though I would like to attend. If not you all have fun again without me.
Inconsequential 06-03-2004, 05:15 PM Lol, Tim, you are always welcome, I just never pm ya about them lately, cuz I figure you wont be able to come up for it.
If you can make it, tat would be sweet.

i dont even think i had an 8 than
unless you guys wanted a tundra it would never have been
93rdcurrent 06-05-2004, 02:03 PM It was just a coupla months ago. But any enthusiast was welcome. Seems like I do remember you saying that you didn't have an 8 then now that i think about it.
I will be there. I dont think that I will be able to go the whole way though.
Possibly we should have a scheduled pit stop in one of the cities that all of the drivers who aren't able to go for 10 hours (cost of gas and whatnot) would be able to head back if they wanted.
Inconsequential 06-06-2004, 09:57 PM Yup, there was a link to a map posted, feel free to make sggestions so as to help out, its all appreciated.
Enzolor 06-07-2004, 12:58 AM Seriously 10 hours is too long!
Rotary Titus 06-07-2004, 11:45 AM LOL ok maybe we just turn back at cache creek then?
HiTMaNN 06-07-2004, 12:03 PM i say someone make me panacakes for breakfast cause my mom is gone to new york and i miss her coooking and i am 23ish pounds slimmer hahah i rule!
Inconsequential 06-08-2004, 02:05 AM So, we still need to figure a time and place to meet, as well as a place for those who cant make entire distance, to return, while we continue on, hehe I am thinking of meeting around 1130 - 1200 at Brentwood parking lot, any thoughts?
Inconsequential 06-09-2004, 05:07 AM Yo Wak, or Gord, can I get a sticky, I see lots of new owners popping up on here, so, we need to get them out for a meet, help us advertise...
HiTMaNN 06-09-2004, 03:12 PM brentwood mall by lougheed?

HiTMaNN 06-11-2004, 03:45 PM hey drew can the next post you make here tell us what we are gonna do such as the drive you have mapped out.. i know its alot of work but ur the man! :D
Inconsequential 06-11-2004, 03:58 PM I am hoping that since a map was posted, that is one thing that will help, I have not driven it yet, so maybe if Usoff can give us a hand in this, that would be great.
Rotary Titus 06-11-2004, 05:21 PM well, here ya go :)
http://www3.telus.net/usoff/Cache creek loop.jpg
HiTMaNN 06-11-2004, 05:31 PM i call middle!! usoff can lead us and lets try to stay together it gives a cool effect
Rotary Titus 06-11-2004, 07:51 PM lol hey why do ppl keep on saying I'm ditching the group? :p
actually I think andrew should lead since he can pick photo spots? And once we get on highway 99, we just keep going forward anyhow
Inconsequential 06-11-2004, 09:46 PM Tell ya what, I will lead, with Usoff behind, we can get some walkie talkies or something to keep in contact, and help me with directions, I will take the other Andrew in my car so he can keep an eye open for photo stops as well as taking pics along the way.
Rotary Titus 06-12-2004, 01:02 AM yea that's a good idea, I have one pair of walkie talkies though I have to dig around for them....
Inconsequential 06-12-2004, 01:16 AM cool, if not, let me know, I will see if i can pick a pair up.
Im gonna use Wak as a navigator/ communicator, heh, so, if you can find a copilot, would be helpful i think.
Might let him drive part of the way too.
HiTMaNN 06-12-2004, 01:49 AM i got one cobra with 19 channels ill be on a channel and bother you guys!
Rotary Titus 06-12-2004, 04:35 AM hahahaha I'm looking forward to this should be fun.
about the meeting place, how about the parking lot of the church at the top of taylor way in west van? As you head up taylor way coming from lion's gate, you have to turn left to get onto hw99 and it's the last possible side street exit on your right before the on ramp onto the highway. Do people know which one I'm talking about? Fietguy, any help in clarifying that location?
Inconsequential 06-12-2004, 05:57 AM Im lost

I was thinking the same thing.
You're talking about St. David's Church I believe:

Rotary Titus 06-12-2004, 06:56 PM YUP! thanks for that!
anyone object? near a highway and it's on the way
Inconsequential 06-12-2004, 06:57 PM What time, I will take a look at the map after work, but I dont think I will have a problem finding it if its on a map, hehe
Rotary Titus 06-13-2004, 02:24 PM I'd say meet there at around 9am sharp? since we don't wanna come home too late
Inconsequential 06-13-2004, 03:08 PM Any suggestions on scheduled stops? ie lunch, gas etc? hehe
HiTMaNN 06-13-2004, 03:49 PM hahah gas oo yah everyone fill up before you come so we are all onthe same page :D
Inconsequential 06-13-2004, 10:24 PM I agree with Usoff on the fact we dont want to be out too late, 9am is fine with me, and if I have problems finding the place, I will give you a call Usoff.
Inconsequential 06-14-2004, 10:08 PM Hey Tim, if you are able to come up and join us, see if you can talk any other Washinton folk into coming up, that would be sweet :)
Inconsequential 06-15-2004, 04:10 PM ok, 12 more days until we do the drive, so, hopefully, any of you who havent decided if you are coming out yet, well, I hope we will know who is up for this soon.
Rotary Titus 06-15-2004, 04:57 PM yeap anyone who think they might have problem finding the place, PM me and I'll give you my cell number to call me that day if needed!
yea, be great if we can get different country plates in the pictures Tim :D
Inconsequential 06-15-2004, 05:35 PM When im out in the Okanagan, if I see any 8's or 7's, I will invite them out to join us, would be a hell of a drive for them, but it would be fun, hehe
Rotary Titus 06-20-2004, 01:36 AM Hey have you heard anything about the fire near lillooet? hmm... hope the fire season doesn't affect the roads....
Inconsequential 06-20-2004, 02:14 AM Havent heard about it, dont have cable, so dont watch news.
If you hear anything about it, please, let us know, so we can either plan a different drive, or different route, thanx Usoff.
HiTMaNN 06-20-2004, 02:18 PM i dont think it should alter our drive to much!
Rotary Titus 06-20-2004, 03:33 PM http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2004/06/20/canada/fires040620
but hmm... yea shouldn't affect the highways YET.... :(
HiTMaNN 06-20-2004, 03:44 PM yah it shouldnt
Inconsequential 06-20-2004, 10:26 PM I hope not, but if it does, please try to keep me up to date on whats going on, I will try to keep up to date by looking here when I can, but dunno how often I will be near comps while on vacation.
HiTMaNN 06-21-2004, 02:53 PM usoff is the man for that
fietguy 06-22-2004, 02:06 PM hey guys,

HiTMaNN 06-23-2004, 12:14 AM exactly!
fietguy 06-24-2004, 11:46 PM ok hey guys,
i want to meet up with you in west van, but i can't do the whole the trip, i have business in Whistler...i could ride up with you guys until whistler....
and when you guys come back down, we could eat in whistler and ill ride back down with you guys...
do we know what time we would be coming back down?
Rotary Titus 06-25-2004, 12:12 AM hmmm ok perhaps we won't do the whole loop then?
Enzolor 06-25-2004, 11:49 AM Well, the point of no return is Cache Creek.. I hear once you hit that point, it's just faster to finish off the loop than turn back.
fietguy 06-25-2004, 01:11 PM hey guys, please dont shorten the trip on account of me...
decide what you guys want to do...
the fact is, i have to do some business in whistler for like 2-3 hrs, just thought we could ride up together and possibly ride back down...
cheers...
HiTMaNN 06-25-2004, 06:32 PM meh whatever
Inconsequential 06-25-2004, 10:47 PM So, any thing else new? driving back tomorrow night, so, I will try to call a few peeps when I get back up there to be on the safe side.
Rotary Titus 06-25-2004, 10:54 PM ok how about this? we go ahead and fietguy can join us on the way to whistler. We continue onto cache creek and depending on how the rest of the group feels at that point we give fietguy a call if we are heading back down or do the whole loop? (I hope we have reception on our cell phones there?)
Inconsequential 06-25-2004, 11:37 PM Hey Usoff, do you have any walkie talkies? (radios) ? If not, post tonight, and I will pick a couple up before I leave Salmon Arm to head back the Van.
fietguy 06-25-2004, 11:52 PM yeah RT, just give me a call and i will ride back down with you guys, or we can eat in Whistler (probably more choices than your average highway diner)...this would work out perfect
Rotary Titus 06-26-2004, 03:18 AM yeap I have one pair of walkie talkies! I will bring them
yea fietguy we'll give you a call when if the group wants to turn around at cache creek
Inconsequential 06-26-2004, 05:58 AM Cool, then I guess no need to pick up another pair.
HiTMaNN 06-26-2004, 03:39 PM ill bring mine and disrupt your talking :D
fietguy 06-27-2004, 01:24 AM hey guys,

Rotary Titus 06-27-2004, 02:37 AM sorry fietguy, it's 9am sharp at the church is that ok with you? anyhow I hope you get this before you leave your house, give me or the andrews or hitman a call if you have any probs!
