I was wondering if anyone knows if Brembo brakes off of an Mistubishi Evolution 8 would fit on an RX-8? I believe the evo has 17" front and 16" rear brake rotors...with brembo 4 piston calipers.

You can really fit most any brake caliper onto anything, as long as you have the correct bracket with the right spacing. Engineering brake setups can be tricky - goof something up, and you can die, no fooling. The RX-8 has REALLY good brakes as-is. I do know that Mazdatrix has a big brake kit with large front calipers and rotors. Pricey, but I bet those Mitsu calipers wouldn't be cheap from the parts counter either. Dale himitsu 05-23-2004, 10:51 PM Why would you want to do that? There is already a Brembo made to fit the RX. You will need spacer if you still use the OEM wheels, because the space is too tight on those... But if you have replaced your wheels to a better racing wheels, then should be no problem... BTW they also sell the spacer too. http://www.mazdatrix.com/8brakes2.htm epitrochoid 05-23-2004, 11:52 PM just have a machine shop make you some brackets. as long as the rotors fit our hubs you should be fine with a set of spacers 310Guy 05-24-2004, 08:13 AM Originally posted by dcfc3s The RX-8 has REALLY good brakes as-is. Definitely. Unless you plan on some SERIOUS racing (not on public streets!) there isn't any reason to upgrade to another brake system. However, if you want to "look cool" then the Brembos are a good way to throw away some money. army_rx8 05-24-2004, 10:37 AM thanks you al for the imput.....the reason i was asking this is because i have a set of them alying in my house...long storyu on how i got them..but they were free so what the hell. himitsu 05-24-2004, 11:46 PM Lucky you... :) Just get the spacers then... or better still replace your wheels with something 19, and open to better show them big brembos... |
