View Full Version : Baltimore DC meeting WTF no turbo 05-21-2004, 11:24 AM Looking to get something going in the next couple of weekends.Anyone want to try to put something together.Maybe meet between balto and dc to draw from both. TreknMazda 05-21-2004, 12:19 PM The cruise to Skyline Drive is tomorrow (May 22nd). Some of the folks are coming from DELAWARE! Still room for more RX-8s:D Take I-66 west from I-495 to exit 60/Route 123 north to first light with Bob Evans Restaurant on the right. Cars will be forming up in the rear parking lot with a scheduled 10AM departure. drifter_d 05-24-2004, 08:48 PM WTF and all, any plans for the long weekend? would love to get a baltimore group outting set up sometime. dave aka drifter d AMRAAM4 06-01-2004, 02:35 PM I'd be interested in meeting some RX8 people. I'd like to give the 8 a more relaxed look over, I am thinking of trading my daily driver for one. ArvinC 06-01-2004, 03:03 PM If I may suggest...howabout somewhere like Arundle Mills Mall or somewhere else in Columbia? They are roughly halfway between DC and Balto. Both locations would be ideal for a meet since there are multiple places to grab a bite and chat it up before setting out for some backroad drives. As for Baltimore/Upper Maryland owners...we should all really try and get a club/chapter going. The DC club is really very well supported and organized, but Arlington is a bit of a drive, especially for those of us who live up north in Bel Air, Timonium, Cockeysville, etc. Arvin drifter_d 06-05-2004, 01:50 PM Arvin, would love to get something going like a club or at least a meet-n-greet over some suds and grub, and a drive. Arundel Mills is good, but anywhere we could get Baltimore-area RX-8 owners together would be fine with me. Now, if we could get the weather to cooperate...! dave aka drifter d Spf006 06-08-2004, 09:44 AM Meet spots are pretty easy to come by, almost any parking lot near an establishment that serves beer is great! And the establishment in question usually doesn't mind the additional visual attention... However... Drives: now there's a question. I know there are some roads with good twisties up near Loch Raven. Anybody have suggestions? WTF no turbo 06-09-2004, 07:28 AM Well only 6 post here may be a lost cause.Whoever wants to set a meeting sight and time ill be there. bmc 06-09-2004, 12:49 PM I'd show up, depending on date/time. (Might have to bring my 2 yr/old son...) If only the DC area mazda club meetings were done somewhere other than Tysons. Tysons is way too far of a drive for something like that. Brian ArvinC 06-09-2004, 02:53 PM ...a nice Balto-area get together: Let's meet at Owings Mills, say at Hops Restaurant and Brewery, for a greet and eat. Afterwards, we could head out down 795 to 695 for a little freeway running. From 695, we could take the Falls Road exit and take the backroads off of Greenspring Valley towards Oregon Ridge and Hunt Valley on Shawan Road (Lots of twists and bends through this horse country!) From Shawan, we could take a left onto York road, travel up through Sparks and Monkton and then return to Owings Mills by going down 83, exiting to Timonium Road, following that around to Greenspring Valley, making a left onto Caves Road, which will dump us back out to Reisterstown Road and back to the Mall. (Whew!) I think it's a pretty scenic drive...has a good mix of freeway cruising and backroad running. The drive should last a good 90 minutes or so. (Reasonable speeds, off course! :D) Good dates for me would be the 20th, 26th or 27th. If anyone else has any other ideas...if I can make it, I'll be there! ;) Arvin WTF no turbo 06-10-2004, 02:39 AM Im up for owings mills if that works for everyone.Lets try to get 5 to confirm to even coming before setting firm date. Agree with you...hopefully, Baltimore and the Counties will come on out!! :D Arvin ArvinC 06-10-2004, 06:26 AM On a side note, the event is closed, but is anyone interested in driving down to watch the MazdaDrivers Event at Virginia International Raceway? (http://www.mazdadrivers.com/index.htm) I'm 98% sure I'll be heading down on Saturday (June 19th) to check it out...I'm really contemplating going for the Summit Point event in August. For that matter, if you're gonna' be driving in the thing, let me know. I'd love to find out more about what it's like to drive your 8 around a track! :D Arvin drifter_d 06-11-2004, 10:53 PM i will commit for a weekend run. tho, i'll be in NY during the weekend of 19-20 June, any weekend after that - i'm in. drifter d ArvinC 06-14-2004, 09:35 AM Originally posted by drifter_d i will commit for a weekend run. tho, i'll be in NY during the weekend of 19-20 June, any weekend after that - i'm in. drifter d That's cool...hopefully we can get at least three more, then we can set up a date!
