I own a 96 millenia S. I love the car. Good performance for a heavy sedan. Beautiful interior and exterior.BUT.......

The fun all began when one day my oil levels dropped because of a problem with the supercharger. Wich in turn then led to the bearings in the supercharger siezeing.

So after deciding to not buy a new supercharger for 4k CDN. I started to look for a rebuilder. After some searching i found there is one company in north america wich can rebuild this supercharger for 2300cdn. So i sent it off to tsc superchargers to have it rebuilt. I got it back had it installed for another thousand bucks and all was good......for about three months.

Then one day i was merrily catching up to some hot girl in a legend when i was emberssed by a rattling noise coming from my engine.

So one again i am in mazda being told my supercharger is broken again. So i sent it back. No real worries because tsc superchargers provides a three year warranty unlimited klms so no biggie.....think again.

Once they recieve it they tell me a rotor has been chewed up by something wich was dropped into the superchargers intake when it was installed. I think he said a screw or something. So now i am at mazda examining the intake. The intake has a screen wich is fine.

So now both partys won't except any fault and once again i am stuck with a hefty bill. Luckily after some talking with tsc they offered me a deal wich i won't disclose. Another thousand bucks and i should have my car back.

And you thought u had car problems.....i have the most exspensive supercharger out there.

Well--I have had 2 Millenia Ss--a 1998 and 1999. I am currently trying to sell my 1999 as I purchased the RX8. Performance wise I like it--210HP 210lb/ft of torque from 2.3L Supercharged V6. I've seen 0-60 times as fast as 7.6 but if the setup is heat soaked it can be as long as 9sec. I've had my problems out of it--the routine maintenaince is what kills me--its like blood letting. It is a very expensive car to work on--as much as I like it I will be glad to sell it as its insurance is higher than my RX8.

Sounds alot like the problems VW had with the G60 Corrado some years back. They are notorious for eating superchargers! And like you are finding out it ain't cheap to fix either.

I also had problems with my throttle sensor. That was an easy fix however.

I havn't had a trani problem thankfully.

I've got 120k on my 95 "S". original owner. never had any major mechanical issues. It is expensive to work on .... the 60/120k require new timing belts. been getting 50k-55k miles on each set of tires. 24-27mpg moving with the traffic ... Probably keep it to 150k.
Heard some folks had trouble with the front supension.

a Stealthy car .... screwed together wel ..... amazing Pearl paint still looks new .... it would look good on an 8.

I never even knew there was a supercharged millenia until reading this thread then magically I saw one on the street yesterday. Pretty slick looking car for a 4 door, nice round tail lights, good stealth factor.

Mazda Millenia S: The classic definition of POS Mazda gimmick technology/advertisement. Expensive to work on, misleading advertised gas milage, power is SEVERELY affected by supercharger temperature. (true on most cars, but very significant difference in this car) Transmission, uneven tire wear and supercharger leak are commonly known problems with this car that Mazda refuse to take responsibility for with a recall or TSB. Oh yeah, resale is as pathetic as ever~
