Pop quiz, hotshots!! :)

Here's one that the search feature won't help me with. It's sheer curiosity, and maybe somebody knows:

#1- We all know how to reset the odometer; The little black stalk above and to the left. But what about the other one between the Tach and Fuel gauge? Does it do anything or is it for symmetry?

#2- What ever happened to this? (See picture below) Is this from an auto, or was it deleted before production? (I've never driven an auto)

#1 - depress and hold to change between km / kmph and miles / mph.

#2 - manual upshift light. Maybe a dash picture from a different market - some features aren't available in all markets. i.e. you can't get auto climate control and headlight washers in the US.

You can get that by pressing and holding the 'AMB' (or what) button on the center console. That will not change the speedo to km/h, only the outside temperature will show Celsius instead of Fahrenheit.
Being European, that's the way I have my car set... I'll never get a real good feeling how warm really 73 Fahrenheit is :p
I did not want to set everything to metric because I'd have a harder time with all postings and speed limit signs being in miles or mph though :)

By the way, that picture must be from North Canada indeed... what, is that -36 Celsius???
Geez...

In Canada, we get headlight washers std. but no low tire pressure monitors. It's funny how they equipe the car for different markets.

Headlight anti-freeze? and your low pressure warning would sound every morning and be annoying?

Just a thought

Conversely for me; I can't wrap my head around Celsius. 23C - good or bad? -- I have no idea until I do the mental math (F= (9/5)C+32) Ah! it's 73 :)

I guess one way to learn would be to set my display to C. I think I'll do that.

The '86-88 2nd gen RX-7's had the Shift Up light. Annoying like you wouldn't believe :). It basically tells you when to shift so you keep it just above 2000 RPM for best fuel economy. But, when you're having fun with the car, you have a damn idiot light going off at you.

Most of the 2nd gens I've worked on with that light promptly get the bulb removed.

Glad they didn't put that in the USA '8s!
