Omicron 04-17-2004, 11:19 AM Mazda of Lakewood, Colorado: POSITIVE. Good sales experience, serrive department has been excellent and honest. Have had no problems getting TSB work done. Recommended.
whosyourbaba 04-17-2004, 12:24 PM Wilkens Mazda, Illinois: POSITIVE. Nice people, and service is nice and friendly. Never regret a person. Just call and drop off.
Tamas 04-17-2004, 12:53 PM Putnam Mazda in Burlingame, CA: POSITIVE.
I bought my car there and had no problem. Rebecca Leung (my salesperson) treated me well. Also, I got the airbag recall and the newest PCM flash done there. They did not give me any trouble when I requested the reflash (Mike Parker was the service writer).
Hou-TX-RX-8 04-17-2004, 03:16 PM Houston, TX Jeff Haas Mazda.. Neutral. They still haven't fixed my squeaking rear brakes.
Update 4/23/04
I think Jeff Haas has finaly come around. I brought the service bulitin in for the M flash and told them the brakes are still freakin squeaking. I brought in the car Thursday they kept it over night. THey flashed to M they replaced all pads, gave me a free oil changed (I asked for one, didn't expect to get it free) and vola everything is working AOK. No squeal either. So for now I am giving a Thumbs Up
tpryor 04-17-2004, 03:37 PM Mazda South - POSITIVE - a GREAT bunch of guys, from the Sales department to the (fabulous) Service department. All performance oriented guys with common sense, and the ONLY reason I would drive from Houston to have any warranty work done.
Genom 04-17-2004, 04:52 PM Eddie Accardi Mazda: POSITIVE. Kept me in the loop via email about test cars, then let me drive one without laying out cash, as well as getting me exactly the car I wanted, at launch time, without charging me an arm and a leg when i decided to buy (local average was 3000 over MSRP). Service is OK. Not outstanding nore bad, just nothing to make them stand out.
sferrett 04-17-2004, 05:03 PM John Hine Mazda - San Diego: POSITIVE - I've used them for service on my rx7 and rx7 and the service writers are accomodating and friendly - I've had no issues at all with them, they take everything I said seriuosly and addressed everything I had a concern about.
RX-MEN-8 04-17-2004, 06:43 PM GUNTHER MAZDA: FT. Lauderdale , FL.. Contrary to Genoms experience--GREAT.. I have been 100% satisfied w/ the sales and service departments. I buy cars often and have dealt w/ many "luxury" type dealerships.. Gunther is just as good or better in their treatment of their customers that some hight end namebrands. So for me, it has been a very positive experience. :D
w2aew 04-17-2004, 08:06 PM Flemington Mazda, Fleminton NJ. Positive so far. Good purchasing experience, good service (recalls and M flash).
musclecarconvrt 04-17-2004, 11:05 PM Nelson Mazda Tennesee, Neutral. I scheduled an appointment for today to have the airbag, trans damper heat shield, and the all important "M" flash. Service rep said all could be done over the phone. Got there (135 mile round trip!) and he didn't have anybody who could do the "M" flash and tried to tell me it wouldn't improve anything.
N5TEV 04-18-2004, 01:04 AM I have two brief reports here ...
1. University Mazda, Gainsville FL, SALES: EXCELLENT! Went in and got the car at just slightly over wholesale. Sales Manager was ready to deal, and bent over backwards to make me happy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
2. Casey Mazda, Newport News VA, SERVICE DEPT: EXCELLENT! Although me having a 10+ year service relationship with them on my RX-7 may have had some influence. Offered up the "M" flash without me asking, as well as all the recall work. Identified and ordered 3 pieces of internal trim needing replacement, under warrantly, without me having to ask. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Ask for Perry.
Jeff
Air Force RX8 04-19-2004, 01:53 AM Boniface Hiers Mazda Melbourne, FL - EXCELLENT Dealt with salesman via e-mail and phone and got what I wanted at the price I wanted with no hassles. Absolutely recommend!
Five Star Mazda Macon, GA (SERVICE) EXCELLENT The service dept has performed all of my TSB/recall work with no hassle even though I did not purchase there. Given me loaner vehicle every time and performed a couple of convenience fixes for me as well!!! A++
eccles 04-19-2004, 01:55 AM another POSITIVE vote for Mazda South here in Austin. Great bunch of folks, who really enjoy their product and keeping abreast of the latest information on it.
porschegeorg 04-19-2004, 07:42 AM Bob-Boyd Mazda Lancaster, OH. Positive. Internet sales manager is honest....told me invoice, sold it for invoice. Got the M-flash from the service dept without a hassle.
6speed8 04-19-2004, 01:08 PM Courtesy Mazda - Tampa Fl. POSITIVE - currently we (my gf daughter and I ) have three Mazdas from them - a 2000 Miata, 2000 Protege and the RX-8. So far the service has been near excellent. The sales experience is obviously very good, or we would not have gotten three cars there.
MyLadyDeb 04-19-2004, 03:11 PM WEST PALM BEACH MAZDA by the AUTO MALL - POSITIVE. From the sales department who convinced me my son knew what he was talking about when he said I had to have this car - to Ray in the service department who is always available to listen to my concerns and when I brought it in for the first time last week for my oil change and the airbag and I mentioned the Re-Flash and maybe rotating the tires, etc. - even tho I had no real issues to talk about .... when I picked it up it was all done and it rides great.
Aratinga 04-20-2004, 03:45 PM I've dealt with the following three service departments:
WEST COVINA MAZDA, West Covina CA: Was POSITIVE, but is currently NEGATIVE
Positive: They accomodate while you wait appointments, they use the correct weight oil, gave no hassle about doing the PCM reflash, and they'll even wash your car for free. Negative: I called several days in advance for an appointment for the recall work to be done, I took a day off work to bring it in, waited over two hours, and then was told that "We have to order the parts. We can't do the recall work until the parts come in." SO WHY DIDN'T THEY ORDER THE PARTS KNOWING THE CAR WAS COMING IN FOR THE RECALL WORK??
Edit: It has now been one whole week since they told me they were ordering the parts, and they still have not called to tell me they're in. This is ridiculous. If Mazda sent out recall letters, don't you think they'd have an adequate stock of the parts required to do the recall work? I have no patience for incompetence.
DisneyDestroyer 04-20-2004, 04:22 PM John Hine - San Diego, CA
POSITIVE
Sales - very low key, one of the few TRUE "bottom line pricing" I've seen. A few others claim it around town, but still try to negotiate. Hine is 100% - they'll even show you the price sheet for your trade-in, so you can see exactly how much they'll be getting for selling it to the auction.
Service - trustworthy. Hard working - they spent three days tracking down the reason my horn would intermittently blow a fuse (two problems - first, only one of the two horns was blowing at a time. second, one of the two horns was shorted. so only when the second one got power would the fuse pop). They spent two days tracking down the reason one of my tires was losing pressure at the rate of 2-5PSI every night (bad valve stem, which explains why covering the tire in soapy water didn't find anything). I've never spent a dime there, and they still treat me great!
swoope 04-21-2004, 01:25 AM cory fairbanks mazda orlando fl. internet sales excellent.
cory fairbanks maxda orlando fl service. excellent X 2. walked in unannounced. asked about m flash at 3pm..
car flashed and airbag recall done by 415pm
beers
Positron 04-21-2004, 08:38 AM Rosenthal Mazda - Arlington: Service - POSITIVE. They did the M Flash for me. They spent the time to research it first and did all of the previous flashes to make sure all patches were done instead of just jumping to the latest. They are pretty quick and it is easy to get an appointment. They did clarify for me that I get a free loaner for warranty work, not for standard service. The only down side I have found is they don't wash the car after service.
The last time I was in the service rep did say that they are NOT recommending synthetic oil for the 8. That surprised me a little.
RX8-TX 04-21-2004, 10:38 AM Hancock Mazda - Mesquite, TX: EXCELLENT - Been driving 15~20 miles just to go there. They've been extremely helpful and they have taken side with me as a Consumer since the beginning.
Mazda Sales: Delray Beach Mazda, excellent. They are consumate professionals and make you feel welcome and comfortable, their philosophy is repeat customers. Mazda Service: Marlin Mazda, excellent. They always detail the car inside and out, provide loaner cars without me having to ask. When I had the airbag module replaced and the updated "M" flash they did everything correctly (glove box bracket) and also threw in a free oil and lube service at no extra charge. I have to say, I have never been treated with this level of courteousy and professionalism by any auto service dept anywhere.
DJ Freon 04-21-2004, 05:01 PM Rosenthal Mazda; Arlington, Virginia : POSITIVE. Very willing to help. Let me AND THREE OF MY FRIENDS test drive. Service department very helpful (but not much experience there yet). End result: Purchase and one happy customer.
FONZIE 04-21-2004, 05:54 PM Mazda Gallery Norwood, MA: Positive - gave me the L reflash and hotter firing plugs with no questions asked. They actually sent out a flyer to their RX8 customers suggesting they get the hotter firing plugs......
  NOW CHANGED TO A NEGATIVE. SEE POST FOR DETAILS....

Millenium Mazda, Durham, NC.
Sales POSITIVE
Service POSITIVE
This dealership was once the pits when under different management. New management has done very well. Minimal game playing, competent sales staff, good deals.
Service is attentive, quick. No complaints. That's rare in these parts.
KrustyKlown 04-21-2004, 08:06 PM Jim Ellis Mazda Marietta: POSITIVE
Sales:
Internet saies manager Paul and the finance officer were great (I will look up their full names). Let me test drive as soon as I walked in. Gave me a great price and the whole experience was excellent. No pressure at all.
Service:
Great. Went in for my oil change at 1.5k (I do the first one early). Asked for a reflash and they did it with no problems or hassle. Even gave me the print out right from the ECU machine.
Q121825 04-24-2004, 09:53 AM Mazda Bastrop, Bastrop Texas - POSITIVE - Their service department is a joy to work with, Brian, Keith, Stuart & Chris are all very, very, very helpful and willing to spend time with you answering your questions! Brian handles parts, Keith is the one for service and Stuart & Chris are both "Mazda Master Mechanics" and certified to work on the 8. Take the time to get to know your service department people, it will pay off in the long run.
Sales is more mixed but I would rate it a qualified POSITIVE. My salesperson is gone (left to sell houses) and they've thankfully fired the former sales director (who couldn't find the time to talk to me on a Tuesday with a sales floor that was more like a morgue than a car dealer). They have a new Retention Specialist, Lisa, who takes the time to talk to you even though I bought months ago. I would still recommend shopping at Mazda Bastrop with the changes they've instituted and with Lisa on board.
Mazda Bastrop is part of the Roger Beasley Group.
shebam 04-24-2004, 11:34 AM Rosenthal Mazda, Arlington - POSITIVE. Pre-ordered in '02 at MSRP; called me on my cell on weekend to get my firm order in first day; no games or hassles. Service responsive, informative, and keeps word and schedule. This my 4th car there.
murix 04-24-2004, 12:34 PM Royal Mazda San Francisco : Positive
I am always in and out in a day with very good service. Recently I just had all the recalls done, tires rotated, and updated flash with no problems. This is the third time I have been and service is always consistently good.
Britelight 04-27-2004, 06:38 PM Kingwood Mazda - Houston - POSITIVE
The best service Dept I've ever used. Ask for Don Fritzinger, he's real helpfull, courteous and professional
YandaPanda 04-28-2004, 09:22 PM Long Beach Mazda, Long Beach, CA
Internet Sales (Joaquin Rosa) - EXCELLENT - Got quote within one day. Test drove Manual and Auto next day. Found car I wanted over the weekend (even called me on his day off to tell me they found it) and bought car ~700 over their invoice the day it was delivered to the dealership with 39 miles on it. Even dealt fairly with extras ($200 for 6CD changer - costs them about $500).
Service - So far, Excellent - the Customer Service team is very responsive and listens well. They do not know what you're talking about, but if you say you have the Service Bulletin, Bring it with you, no questions asked! I have an appointment in a few weeks (my choice, she asked if I wanted the next day) for the A/C fix, the "M" flash and alignment of the headlights. I may also ask for the first oil change.
Had the 6CD changer and moonroof deflector installed within the first week and they had no problem with a loaner (although it was an ugly SUV).
They have just gotten their Mazda dealership. All the salesmen are just learning (sent my sales guy the rx8web.com link for him to learn about the 8). And they admit that they do not know everything! When I test drove, he could not tell me where the inside trunk release was. Four days later when he had my car, he had learned where it was! They are learning well and have a great attitude.
doccable 04-28-2004, 10:12 PM Sales: Bob Penkhus Volvo-Mazda in Colorado Springs, CO. Positive. Worked with me every step of the way on my 8 purchase. Is currently working with me on a Tribute purchase, (wife's Explorer was totalled by a drunk driver). They even delivered my 8 to me, at no charge, 250 miles away. Haven't tried the service dept.
Service: Spradley-Barr in Ft. Collins. Positive. Jan V. is fantastic!
Sales: Spradley-Barr, again. Negative. They were not cooperative, unwlling to work with me. I would avoid at all cost.
NAVILESRX8 05-01-2004, 02:58 PM Champion Mazda in Brockton, MA
Replaced diff in my car
Work was good, fixed the car, but they just came accross as not giving a f*** about me or my car. Twice made appointments ahead of time and when I showed up I was given the run around and had to reschedule. So after 2 weeks of the initial diagnosis the car was repaired.
So they get a nuetral rating from me. I only used them because they are a block away from where I work and live.
zzum-zum 05-03-2004, 03:43 PM Malloy Mazda
Woodbridge, Virginia
Sales and service both positive
Kennedy Mazda in Philadelphia PA: POSITIVE. I found their service guy to be very friendly, listened to my problems and actually did fix them where another dealer had given me the run-around and not repaired the problem. Good dealer for service.
MEGAREDS 05-05-2004, 12:09 AM Jacobs Mazda, Aurora Illinois: Positive. Straight forward sale without much fuss, though they tried to pile on extra stuff at the end like extended warranty and extra wheel warranties. Greg in service was helpful when needed.
Liberty Mazda, Libertyville Illinois: Neutral. Sales guys were excellent, but service department always seems to want to charge for things that everyone else on this forum gets under warranty - like flooding repair or ECU upgrades. They did a nice job on air-bag recall, though -- no broken glove box and not a mark... hey, did they really do the recall work? ;)
DaveT 05-10-2004, 09:41 PM Twin City Mazda - Alcoa, TN (Knoxville Airport)
Sales = Excellent. Sales people really know their product, and actually own the products they are selling. Well trained, courteous, and professional. Pleasant "no hassle" buying experience. And, "Black8er" on this forum is one of them.
Service = Outstanding. Never a quibble. Fast, efficient, proficient and courteous. Had a CEL @ 180 miles for metering oil pump. They took one off a new car on the lot to fix it. Both recalls in an hour, and L & M re-flash just for the asking.
Follow-up = Excellent. Have received calls from their Customer Service Rep after buying, and after each service visit, to make sure everything was OK and that I was a happy camper.
I've recommended them countless times, and I'm doing it again here. They are a Mazda "Elite" dealer, and it shows.
restob 05-11-2004, 08:42 AM Auburn Mazda, AL: Positive. They got me what I ask for plus more at a good price. After I got the car I found a few minor scraches and they fixed with no questions ask. I haven't taken my car to their service department yet.
Jay AutoMall, GA: Positive/Negative: The sale rep there was trying to sell me a car in the lot and was igonering the color and package I was looking at buying. No problems with the test drive. As of right now, I plan to take my car there for service since it is only a 10 min ride. If things don't go well there, I will go to Auburn Mazda, which is 45 min away.

Mazda South - Austin, TX - Sales NEUTRAL - the sales guy was no nonsense...got the paper work set up and ready in record time (S-Plan sale so no haggling). The finance dept made me wait for over an hour...thereby negating what would otherwise be a positive comment.
Service - NEUTRAL to POSITIVE - CEL came on 2 miles from dealership when I bought it (at 9:30pm). They got me in the next day on my schedule, pulled codes and flashed PCM in under 2 hours. Seem like nice guys. BUT, they scratched the paint on my front bumper to the plastic (<24hrs old  ). Dealership is trying to make it good with no hassle given on their part...jury is out on them for now.
EDIT: Their recommended touchup guy just finished (5/20) spraying a small section of my front bumper to fix the chipped paint...can't tell it from the factor color. I am pleased...give these guys the benefit of the doubt for making it good.
wannabe8 05-12-2004, 09:44 PM Faulkner Mazda - Harrisburg PA
Sales - Positive (so far)
Accepted S-Plan identification, and quoted me correct S-Plan pricing, allowed me to demo car & take it to show wife, offered to find me the car of my choice, offered to courtessy trade my current vehicle if I have a buyer.
Haven't purchased yet... but so far, they're leading contender.
Anyone wanna buy a 98 Eclipse Turbo?? ;)
davesaunders300 05-13-2004, 01:54 PM Positive: Stone Mt Mazda on Hwy 78 in Georgia
Although I didn't buy the car from them, I've had excellent service from them. They did the M flash for me without any questions or me having to allege some bogus problem.
They've also been very good about answering all my questions. I think this is a fairly new dealership so they are overly busy and they are able to do everything so far on a same day basis.
jtimbck2 05-13-2004, 04:55 PM Holiday Ford/Mazda, Blacksburg, VA: POSITIVE for SERVICE, NEGATIVE for SALES.
I didn't buy my car there, because they never followed up to my initial contact via Mazda's pre-order website; I bought from Berglund Mazda in Salem, VA (experience = NEUTRAL).
But I've had good experiences with Holiday's service department; they're efficient, competent, and professional. My only complaint is my car is never parked in the numbered space they tell me when I go to pick it up; I always have to wander the lot to find it!
davesaunders300 05-14-2004, 07:52 AM Re: Stone Mt Mazda-It's hard to believe we're even talking about the same dealership. They did the M flash for me without me even asking for it. It was in for the air bag recall. I'm getting the free service for the HP overstatement so I haven't spent a penny there and probably won't for at least three years. I've been in three times and they been very pleasant every time. They even washed the car for me on one visit and offered to another time but I was in a hurry so I didn't wait for the wash..
Is there another Mazda dealer on Hwy 78 that I don't know about? The one I'm talking about is just west of a Home Depot and next to a Nissan dealership.
Meowloud 05-14-2004, 09:51 AM 5 Star _Mazda_ in Macon, GA. helped us when the titanium 8 broke down on our way to FL last month.
I say Mazda, because it was their rep that was in the service department (Kim) that finally got us a rental so we could drive back to Tennessee. 5 Star has two buildings, one is the main older Dodge/Ford building (which does Sat. service) and the new Mazda building is across the lot. The Mazda building is closed on Saturday, and if it hadn't been for Kim, we would have been stuck!
khoney 05-17-2004, 11:50 PM World Car Mazda in San Antonio (on Fredericksburg) - POSITIVE!
I got my TSB's taken care of before they were officially announced, got no hassles with the reflash, and have even pulled in unannounced when my car hiccuped. Had to wait less than an hour for a diagnostic. They also shuttle me to work. Good people.
KKMmaniac 05-19-2004, 08:52 AM Polar Mazda – White Bear Lake, Minnesota: Positive!
Stopped by on a Friday afternoon to check the place out, and talked with the service consultant. I rattled off a list of things I needed done: airbag and dynamic damper heat shield recalls, parking brake lever replacement, (cold weather cracking on the dust cover) four oval frame plugs, (which my dealer didn’t install during PDI) and “M” reflash. Regarding the reflash, he said he’d have to contact Mazda to see if it should be done, which I could understand, since I didn’t really have a specific issue addressed by the “M” reflash. He was willing to listen and had an easy-going nature which was confidence inspiring, (I normally do my own work on my cars, so leaving it with a dealer for work is as bad as getting teeth pulled for me!) and I set up an appointment for Thursday morning.
After arriving Thursday, it took only about 5 minutes to drop off my car and get set up with a newer Protégé rental, and I was off to work. During the time they had my car, the service consultant did a good job keeping me informed of the status of the repairs, parts availability, etc.
When I picked up my RX8, I was happy to see nothing messed up or broken, and all the repair work had been done properly, as far as I could tell. The only disappointing thing was the hood ornament probably provided by a White Bear Lake seagull that had a big lunch. It just didn’t compliment the lines of the car!
Overport 05-21-2004, 06:01 PM Where i bought my 8 from. At first they sucked because the salesman didn't have a clue to what he was talking about, so i walked out on the guy, and the sales manager comes RUNNING out to my car to tell me they were going to fire the guy and he was extremely sorry, for this he took $3,000 off the sticker! Everytime i go back their for service, it is excellent.
80CuIn 05-21-2004, 09:20 PM I purchased my 8 at Faulkner. Only because they had the options I wanted in stock. I also purchased via S-Plan.
Tried to get the "L" flash done by Faulkner. Faulkner service was snooty, and arrogant. Did not want to talk about an "L" flash.
Brought my car to Marty Sussman over near Willow Grove, PA. Ther service department was not near the showroom. In fact is was shared with Hyundai, Acura, and Buick. Looked run down. Although the service bay was clean and organized.
Marc Varallo, Service Manager, treated me with the kind of customer service other's should follow. He was attentive to my concerns and address all my issues (ie. "L" flash then "M" flash, summer tire mount). He wanted to know more about RX8Club.com and was quite impressed. He also returned my calls and called me when my 8 was finished. Overall Marc was pleasant and freindly.
Faulkner Mazda has all the "Mazda Awards" and may have a snazzy service building, but the people inside are what make service, service. And that is what Sussman has over any Mazda award Faulkner may have.
Thanks again Marc.

irst oil change:
Gave me a loaner car while I waited, up-graded my ECU to M reflash with no hassel.
Took it in last week for Air conditioner TSB, again no hassel ordered the part which will come in a few days.
Overall the guys there are quite friendly and treated me with concern and hospitality and always respected the fact that I just dropped 30k on a new car and that I am always concerned about its well being.
BernieB 06-01-2004, 12:58 PM Bought a new RX-8 this weekend. Fastest deal I ever made in almost 40 years of driving. 5 Minutes. Paid invoice and they are handling a courtesy trade on the old car (to save tax in Pennsylvania). Very amicable salesman, David Iskra.

I went there last week as well. Everything was reasonable, but compared to Flemington Mazda, they were slightly more for selling price, offered slightly less for tradein, and were at a slightly higher interest rate.
So I bought mine saturday from Flemington :)
Congrats on your new ride!
HeelnToe 06-01-2004, 01:19 PM I'd like to recommend Flemington Mazda in NJ. We just bought our 8 from them, and it was a pleasant experience overall. We managed a fair price (couple hundred over invoice) at a good rate (4.1% for 60 months).
I'm sure some have paid less, but others have paid more as well, so overall I'm qute pleased.
They did a number of things they didn't have to do, including allowing numerous test drives, treating my ailing father-in-law like royalty, and working with my wife and insurance agent to keep the actual purchase a surprise for me (I knew we were trying to buy one, but I had no idea she had already bought it until we went there to "apply for credit" and I saw a bow on one <g> ).
So that's a big thumbs up for Flemington (ask for Joe).
HeelnToe 06-02-2004, 10:06 AM Just another thumbs up for Flemington Mazda, NJ:
When we realized the airbag recall had not been performed on our new RX-8, Flemington fixed it immediately (without a prior appointment) when service opened the next morning.
They also did the M flash upon request during the same visit, no questions asked.

MPG > HP 06-09-2004, 02:07 AM Kudos to Alhambra. CA. Ricky Trieu, the Service Manager, was "true" to his words and got the okay from MUSA in only two business days to replace the "no-impact" cracked windshield, under warrantee! The original Mazda replacement part is on order.

World Car Mazda - San Antonio - Sales POSITIVE; Service NEUTRAL
SALES: Danny warned me about the negatives of 8 ownership beforehand, not too much hassle on S-Plan purchase.
SERVICE (really limited data): Check Engine Light came on during test & stayed on, took 1/2 day [w/loaner] to flash PCM. Rear Lic. Plate mount damaged, but svc techs only looked at front, which was OK (didn't check rear).

Positive Service/Sales
Swift knowledgable service, never any probs. Go the extra mile. Best service I've had at any dealership for any of my previous cars.
Sales: Nice, fast; did not deal on price in 12/03. (I'm sure that's changed by now.) Also, parts/accessories full price, so see below.
Rosenthal Mazda Parts: Positive.
Discounted parts with great internet/phone service, good communication and website.

If you live in Vancouver, B.C, I would highly recommend them... ask for MazdaMan or if you need a Chinese speaker, you can ask for Francis.
scubacap 07-23-2004, 04:41 PM Police & FIre Auto Sales. They found the RX-8 with just what I wanted, and nothing I didn't need. Their an auto broker, they made the deal. All I had to do was go to Galpin do a test drive, do the paperwork, then speed off in my 8.
Great price, no BS. They also got me a great deal on the extended warranty.
scubacap 07-23-2004, 04:44 PM Galpin Motors in Valencia (not San Fernando), they have two locations. The salesman didn't try to BS me or steer me to another car. (I found out later somebody else wanted mine and was going to pay sticker plus dealer mark up.)
Service so far as been fair, and honest. But I've only had it in once.
goforwand 07-23-2004, 06:41 PM A rarity for a Mazda service department. Someone that has raced rotarys, does his own mods, provides excellent advice, and actually cares about the customer and the car.
After the Parker "lack of" detail department trashed my center consol while trying to clean the car for delivery, their response was "bring it back and we'll clean it up". I brought the car over to Phillip and he said, "I'll order the parts, they'll be here in 4 days" No B.S., no questions.
So I bring the car in for him to complete some warranty work and install my RB suspension. I'm a bit concerned as it is taking longer than was originally stated. Come to find out that Phillip was busy with customers and "didn't want to release the car until all the fingerprints were removed from the interior and exterior"
When I pick the car up and ask him how the install went, he just smiles and says "Rails..., this thing is on rails."
If you need any type of work on your 8, it's worth the drive down from Jacksonville to see this guy. Having dealt with the service department at Tom Bush when I had my FD, I can say that this guy is head and shoulders above anyone there.

They matched prices and been helpful finding the car I wanted. No pressure, no gimmicks atmosphere, easy to do business with. See Robert (Internet Manager) for friendly help.
To compare, try Maxon Mazda and/or Sansone Mazda. First one will sell you everything (in words, rude, not to be trusted) while the second will simply not care to deal with you ("We sell enough cars, why would I price match to sell you one?" by some manager, Nick - way to go! To Business classes, of course). After seeing those two poor excuses of a dealership, go back to Wayne Mazda and be happy :o)

Great sales staff, friendly and straight shooters.
Best Mazda dealer in the area.
Ned M 08-28-2004, 01:30 PM Jeff Wyler Mazda Service Dept; Batavia, Ohio: Took my car there yesterday by appt. for the xmission damper and airbag recalls and the M Flash. Got a free rental car, and they treated my car like it was their own. I couldn't even tell anyone had been in it except for the faint smell of service dept. inside the car and a 3 mile test drive on the odo. No ham-hands prints on the paint, no foot scuffs on the door sills, or ANYTHING. This customer service is about 500 percent better than I'd ever before experienced at this dealer service dept. I was scared to take my car there and they treated me like royalty.
p.s. My butt-dyno can't really tell any difference from the M-flash.

SALES: POSITIVE. I sent them an email, they promptly replied. Called them up on the phone and gave them my needs (equipment, colors, etc). They asked for a couple of hours to check around. Called me back two hours later with data on what they had in stock, as well as cars that were in transit to the dealership.
SERVICE: POSITIVE. Did the required service, called us as soon as the car was finished.

SALES: POSITIVE. Faxed many dealers, this dealer called back same/next day. All staff (from receptionist up to the GM) were very nice to talk to and work with. Excellent Customer Service and price too!

Sales: POSITIVE : No BS. They were honest about wanting to sell me a car, but didn't push. I went in three times to look and drive (twice) and never felt pressure. On our way out the second time one of the sales men I hadn't spoken to tried the hard sell (What's it going to take to sell you a car toDAY!!) but my wife and I stuck to our guns and said "Maybe later, thanks". Considering that at various points I talked with five sales people and only one acted like the typical salesman: that's ranks high with me. :)
Also, the finance office presented the options and didn't push me when I pointed out problems with things they were offering (basically some things were very obviously not worth it). I ended up taking it pretty much with no service plan, clear coat, special seat protection, etc. She never pushed me at all - not even with the guilt trip some give you: This is an expensive car, you want to take care of it don't you?
Oh, and the sales men were honest with me about what they knew and didn't know. Good guys.
Service: Positive : My only experience with them was getting an option added that the car didn't come with. They called me the very next day after purchase to schedule the work. Before going in, I wanted to ensure my vehicle had the M flash so (hearing about the problems people had getting it done when it was first released), I printed out the MSP & TSB documents on the M flash. Before I dropped my car off I looked for the authorized mods sticker and it turns out they had already done it back in June! I think these guys are going to work out pretty well for me. BTW, they did the work and I had no issues with them.

Clueless but no pressure. Very laid back. The buyer should know exactly what he wants.
Service:
I have only been there one time for warrenty and recall work but they addressed all the issues without any hassle and was pretty quick about it.
Parts:
Parts are a bit on the expensive side. The counter is understaffed and slow.

bought my car here....no pressure what-so-ever. car was detailed beautifully. my salesman offered to take me to lunch while they getting the car already, due to the fact that there were a couple other cars ahead of mine!!!
As for the service department...AWESOME!!!! i'm still getting calls to see how my 8 is doing. service manager has an 8 also and we got into a playful arguement about different mods and how they were effective. EVERYONE THERE HAD BEEN NOTHING BUT NICE STILL TO THIS DAY!!!

When I first received service for the dynamic damper TSB, they were swift about it, and the service is always great. They never ask questions, and the techs are always willing to stop and say "good morning." Too bad they're being investigated by Texas Attorney General.

good buying experience. Demarcus knew what he was talking about and didn't hassle me. Went out of his way to find me an 8 with the packages I wanted. His price for the car and my trade in was good but I think I might have gotten screwed by the Hixon financing guy. Ass. I don't think those guys communicate with each other. All the people in the Mazda builder were way nicer than those in the Ford one. Didn't get to wash my ride before I left the lot cuz it was too late but brought it in first thing next day and it was done with the quickness, no problem.
service good. Brought in cuz something was leaking and they took a look see, no problem so no charge and no hassle.
Munday Mazda in Houston, TX - POSITIVE (altho secondhand info cuz my boyfriend always went, not me)
But said very friendly and service dept. competent. Used correct oil, fixed center console in a resonable amount of time even tho had to order parts. No problems when had to check on nail in tire except that they couldn't fix it so had to buy new one. Got a free zoom zoom sticker. woohoo.
AutoBahnRX8 10-10-2004, 07:45 PM I hate to bring up old news, but I had a GREAT time with Sullivan Mazda in Ocala (Sept 03). The salesman was young, yes, but knew the car well and gave me no BS.
Howard 11-01-2004, 08:53 PM Basney Masda - South Bend Indiana I took my RX 8 in for service today for the first oil change. The Dealer found a bent crossmember that was hit at a car wash. I have contacted the car wash to report it. The dealership straightened it at my request. Two days ago I was showing a friend the engine and he noticed the fuse box was not closed and we found it had a broken clip. I never opened it before. The dealership ordered a entire new tray unit. They have also skeduled me for a computer diadnostics next week. Total charge 33.00 for oil change. These guys are great!

Got my Sunlight Silver 8 there on 10/07. Fredrick Thomas was a great salesman and nice guy. Thinking of buying another car from him.
Sales Manager TOTALLY SUCKED...Don't talk to him. He was totally disrespectful to me a my wife. Talked down to us like we were children (I'm 28 she's 25).
Had it in for service on 11/15-11/16 for a dash rattle, 1st oil change, and clutch noise. Donnivan was great. Good service. Poor tech had to take my dash apart 4 times to find it and fix it. Plus Donnivan picked up all of the extra charges (taxes, gas being a little lower then when I got it, upcharge for better car) for the rental car without me having to say a thing....he just did it because they had my car for 2 days instead of 1. Great service. No problem with the clutch.
Plus another salesman who didn't even work with me on my car remembered me by name when I went to go drop off my car for the service. It had been five weeks and he remembered me by name!!!!! THATS AWESOME.

This was the second dealer I visited before buying my car. Being a young guy in a civic, the usual newbie salesman came to greet me. I'd been to a dozen other dealers looking at other cars, and always got that teenage tire kicker attitude from the sales staff. I was very honest with him about my intentions of the car, and he was receptive after knowing that I wouldn't be buying the car that day. I told him I'd seen that they had the model with the options I wanted and that I'd like to take a look at it. He made it clear that he'd beat any offer from other dealers, so I went hunting and got the price down to $200 under invoice, which they happily decided to beat. Problem was, they had transferred the model without NAV (which i didn't want to pay $2000 for) after I had driven 3 hours to the dealership with my dad to cosign on the note. I offered them 50% of invoice ($750) more for the same car with the NAV, and they eventually accepted my offer. So I got a hell of a deal. I was the first customer to ever open the door of the car, and the only one to ever test drive the one I ended up buying :D
Despite my M flash hassles, their service has been great despite what I've heard from others (including competing dealerships). I drive past other dealers to take mine in for service. The service managers and tech like to chat with me about my various methods of destroying the tread on the tires and always ask if I've beaten my previous top speed record. I had a failed water pump at 18,000 miles, which they obviously replaced under warranty no questions asked (even though they hinted that excessive agressive driving could have caused it). They couldn't rent me a car since I was 3 weeks shy of 21 years old, so they sent a tech to jacksonville to get me a pump, drove me home, installed it after hours that night, and had it ready for me the next morning (a saturday). They even got all excited about my exhaust and asked that I rev it up "real high" in the service bay for everyone to hear. lol
All around a great bunch of guys, highly recommended!

Pros:
Great price (5300 off MSRP, total of 24700 for a 6spd with touring)
Great tradein for my car (5200 whereas a different stealership over a year ago would only offer 5000)
No hassling or haggling from the start.
Cons:
I was a little disappointed at their lack of ammenities in the dealership. No free sodas or snacks available and the coffee was horrible.
5 hours (Finance only had one person working. I would think that the last day of the month when you have 8 sales people all over the lot that you would have at least one more finance person. I finally got out at 11pm and there was still a guy after me waiting to get in to financing.)
Still it was a good experience and I got my dream car.
Added features:
Spoiler
MP3 player
Total cost OTD: ~32000, this includes the added security, 7yr 75k warranty, 4.39% financing, gap insurance and -1600 tradein on my old car.
jsh1120 12-14-2004, 02:28 PM Been waiting until my first service to comment on Lee Johnson Mazda in Kirkland, Washington (Seattle suburb.)
Purchase: 4 stars out of 5. Internet quote of $27,120 for 2004 GT 6spd in 11/04. About $1000 less than any other dealer. Wanted Nordic Green. They traded with another dealer to get it. No pressure. No hassle. Might have made an even better deal, but figured they were entitled to some profit. Negatives: Car wasn't as clean as I would have liked. Had to press a bit for the "M" flash. (The original dealer hadn't performed it.) Refused to pay an additional B&O tax (It's a Washington State thing.) that they tried to put into the deal. ($150.) To their credit they eliminated the tax without a hassle when I questioned it.
The dreaded FINANCE discussion was a breeze. Very little pressure to purchase paint protection/seat protection/protection protection. Not a bad deal on an extended warranty. I didn't bite but I may later.
Their internet sales department (Tom Thoensen and Tom, Jr.) are professional, polite, and easy to deal with. I'd highly recommend them over the regular sales staff.
Service: 4 stars out of 5. Had to get an "M" flash once Mazda re-re-released the latest version. I called them. (To be fair, I only gave them one day after I knew it was released to call me.) Replaced a scratched seat back under warranty for a tiny scratch (Known TSB problem) without a whimper. They noticed that Mazda had provided the wrong seatback without a pocket. Installed it anyway and ordered the correct version.
Installed f/r mud guards I had purchased separately. Good job, though 2.5 hours labor sounded high to me. Car washed when I picked it up but paper mat not removed. (Lot boy issue; a nit to be sure.)
Had a free rental (Chevy Malibu) for the day. Hardly impressive but I didn't mind. I was hoping for a Miata or a Corvette. (They're also a Chevy dealer.)
All in all, I've been impressed, especially considering I had doubts about a dealer whose bread and butter is Chevrolet, not Mazda. I'll watch them closely at the first oil change. Considering I've had virtually no real problems, they've been a good dealer so far.
Alucard 01-11-2005, 01:42 AM I bought mine from Flemington Mazda. They did a great job, and service was great. They found the exact car I wanted without having to order it. Service was only 1 hour for when my engine flooded. I definatley recommend them.
slllygrl10 01-15-2005, 12:44 PM They took my car to Bill Britt's Mazda in Fredricksburg VA because it flooded. I was so impressed with the service. And I also had my MP3 installed as well without questions asked. I thought they would say come back another day or you need to set up an appointment. That's what I normally get from Congressional Mazda here in Rockville MD. But rather than just deflooding my car they also installed my MP3. Thanks Bill Britt's Mazda!!!!
valpac 01-17-2005, 09:52 AM Jim Ellis- Marietta: Had a concern following my recent front brake squeal service bulletin (SB no. 04-006/04) work. They turned my rotors as a response to previous customer complaints about front end vibration after new pads were installed. I thought it unnecessary. The Service Mgr was both courteous and professional and offered to replace my rotors under warranty. EXCELLENT service!

Over the years, I've bought 9 different Mazdas from this dealer, and the experience all the way through was been excellent. Sales personnel are up front and willing to negotiate, financing is always a breeze, and service is first rate.
Never had a problem with this dealer or any Mazda I've owned.
Sociopath 01-31-2005, 10:07 PM I just want to let every one who lives in or near Huntington Beach, Southern California, to know to visit Heritage Lincoln/Mazda dealership if you have any problems with your car. My car was flooded during an aftermarket installation. I called them, and without any hassels they had my car fixed within 1 hour; no comments, no BS whatsoever. They didn't even care about what I was doing to the car (even though it wasn't engine related); a very surprising response coming from a dealership from my past experiences.
The only problem I had was when I called the 800 Road Side Assistance, the assistance program had trouble finding a tow truck company with a flatbed that was willing to pick up my car. Appearently my car was dubbed "too-low" to be safely wenched on to a flatbed. They were hasseling me about liability issues. When I called Heritage, they immediately offered to call a tow truck service for me, that was outside of the 800 Road Side Assistance program, and took care of the bill for me.
REXNdBst 02-02-2005, 05:52 AM Ya that's where I got my 8, the're pretty koo even though I haven't been in any other mazda dealership. They are a lot better than mitsubishi though whenever I bring my DSM and just last week my new Evo had some tranny problems and they were talking out of their ass.

Great sales guy, though he's already gone to another brand dealer. Some of the usual back and forth dealing, but nothing hidden, no high pressure. Let me have the car for a day to check it out for fit with the kids, skis, etc. Some problems with financing paperwork & getting my plates but they worked them out. The sales guy even brought a second set of temp tags and put them on the car for me while I was working. Nice job with prep except for forgetting a dealer sticker on the front window. My only service experience thus far is getting the M flash the next day. That went fine.

Made an appointment for 5000 mile service and a litany of other little things. They have ordered parts to take care of everything. They actually read the TSBs!
Issues addressed:
- ECU flash if necessary
After first confirming I was up to date (I believe the car had the original 'M' flash when I bought it from them last fall), they then determined that I needed a reflash ('N', I assume, which from what I've read here is identical to 'M', but compatible with the latest version of the reflash software that they use).
- Rattle in rearview mirror
Ordered me a new rearview mirror
- Rattle in airbag
Ordered parts
- Missing engine cover grommet
Ordered parts
- Squeaky brakes
Ordered parts
- Oil Change/tire rotation
Done
- Buzzing Bose center channel
Ordered speaker
- Creaking driver's seat when turning
Confirmed the problem, discovered that the passenger seat does the same thing, checking with Mazda NA to determine if normal
- Dipstick slime
Ordered parts
Q-chan 03-05-2005, 07:18 PM I bought my 2004 Velocity Red 6MT/GT+Nav+6diskCD there. I got a very good price for a 2004, which is by build date and VIN number almost a 2005.
The sales team was very friendly, competent and honest. I found a few issues at the car, which were resolved in minutes with no questions asked. An Lou (the sales rep) spent even the evening time to drive my rental car back to the airport. In summary a very positive experience.
And then I had a long night alone with her... :D .... on our long way from Maryland to Boston...
Discman2 03-09-2005, 04:01 PM I bought my 04 RX8 from Potamkin Mazda last year in June. Really good experience.
The people were freindly and knowledgable but the best thing about everything was that THEY WERE DESPERATE TO SELL!
I went in there just to scope out prices and I had acidentally gotten into a conversation with the dealer to actually buy.
After realizing I hadn't even been to another dealer, even though I had a great price, I decided to leave. I told the guy it was a great offer, but I was gonna shop around first....
Then as I was leaving, I got into my car and I was talking to my GF about the car out of nowhere the Dealer comes outside to my car and taps on the window.
He told me that he talked to the owner, and the owner was wiling to drop $1k from the price and the dealership fee, only if I took it today....
I discussed it with my gf and family and I was like alright. Lets do it ( I knew I was gonna get an Rx8 anyways, so whatever)....
So in all I saved around $1500, which was sweet. :D

Kewlb 03-11-2005, 02:13 PM Hey Everyone,
I purchased my 2004 Winning Blue RX-8 6-speed w/ GT package and Navigation last week from DarCars Mazda of College Park http://mazdacp.darcars.com/
I must say that this dealership is the best dealership I have delt with so far. I have bought cars from a BMW and an Acura dealership before. The sales representative was nice, understanding, and actually knew a little bit about the car, but would tell me if he did not know something (most just lie and act like they know everything.). There was not too much haggling over price, they came out with an already good price, they did not have any problems applying the Gerber rebate (even without the ad) and were a pleasure to deal with.
There was a fuse blown on the radio the day after I got it, so I took i to the dealership and they put me in a 2005 Mazda6 for the day, and promptly had my car waiting on me when I got there later that afternoon.
After a few days of driving (believe it or not I had not given a full look around the car yet -- when I bought the car it was pitch black dark.) and I noticed some pretty bad knick marks on the rear bumper. I took the car to the dealership and pointed this out to the Sales Manager. The sales manager said it could have been backed up into the fence they keep the cars in and told me to bring it in the next Thursday and he would have the bodyshop fix the problem.
I brought the car to the dealership on Thursday and gave them the spill of what they needed to hear to also replace my battery with the new battery recommended in the TSB -- they did so without even asking a question. They also gave me a 2005 Mazda6 S 5-door Hatchback as a loaner car (which is not that bad of a car and the VVTI kinda feels like the i-vtec that was in my old RSX Type-S).
I would give this dealership an A+++ rating so far for both the sales team and the service team.
Service is outstanding, fast, efficient and they are honest about things.
Takes time to explain things in detail. Always get follow-up calls
JonsToy 03-16-2005, 01:58 PM Got to give kudos to the service department at Tyrone Square Mazda in St. Pete, FL. Been there three times, first for a cracked temperature knob, next for a nail in a tire, and lastly for a number of TSB and warranty issues on my '04 8 with 12k miles. The first two times they did the work immediately as I waited. The third time they provided a rental for the week they had mine. Everything was handled very professionally, with no hassles or discussion. Marla, my service advisor, was great to work with!
By the way, the warranty work on my third visit included replacing my foggy headlamps, replacing my squealing front brakes, replacing my battery with the more powerful version and boosting the a/c with the new a/c amplifier unit. all this was done with no questions asked, and no need to show them the TSBs.
Highly recommended!
RX8 Pusher 03-18-2005, 03:36 PM Rosenthal Mazda (Arlington)...I can not say enough good stuff about these folks, mainly the service department! Those guys rock. While I have been in there from the front break noise to just joining the "Flood Club" yesterday, they have provided 110% satisfaction in getting the problem. Super Great guys to work with!
N8theGr8 03-23-2005, 11:31 PM Ed Morse Mazda - New Port Richey, FL......I live 3 hours from there and was more than willing to do business with them than any other dealer around here. Brought them the RX-8 to chase a couple of squeaks and rattles and do the air bag TSB now that the parts are in. They were able to take care of everything except one of the rattles - and get this: they've asked that the next time I'm in, I take the technician for a drive so they can find the last annoying rattle.
Gotta love it. Wish they could all be like this. They're getting a big box of Krispy Kremes next time I'm in.
Shinka-Rick 04-13-2005, 04:50 PM Russell Mazda of Clearwater.
100% A++ rating all the way around.
Internet sales department gave me below invoice pricing.
Sales staff was no pressure, they let the Shinka sell itself!!
Service department has been awesome.
My Serius receiver had to be replaced, and they installed the spoiler on the Shinka.
I have received 2 personal letters from the owner of Russell Mazda making sure that I was happy with all aspects of the dealership.
I am tough on dealers when I buy a new car. I highly recommend these guys!!

arattle 06-16-2005, 05:11 PM POSITIVE: Pacifico Mazda, Philadelphia. I've taken my car there a total of three times, once for MSP04 (they put a hold on the flashes at the time, no biggie). Once for state inspection - they gave me a discount that I didn't have a coupon for, and did MSP04 M-Flash without me even asking. Today, I took the car in for the headlight film, squeaky brakes, and center console clasp. They gave me a rental with no hassle, replaced the brake (I didn't have to mention the TSB), ordered a new console lid, and after finding out that the headlight film was on the outside instead of the inside, buffed and waxed my headlights to look like new (at no charge).
Very highly recommended service department (I didn't buy from them).

pcimino 06-27-2005, 10:15 AM Kudos to Brandywine Mazda (Brandywine/Concordville area, Pennsylvania) Not far from the DE/PA State line on 202....
I could go on and on, in 14 years I've had 4 Mazdas, three from Brandywine, 'nuff said.
rdfield1 06-28-2005, 02:34 PM North Penn Imports of Colmar PA (suburb of Phila) is, in my opinion, a great dealer for both sales and service. I've been dealing with them since 1991 and have purchased or leased an MX-5, Protoge, Mazda 3, RX-8, VW Beetle, VW GTI. Sales and service are both competent in the extreme.
Sapphonica 07-02-2005, 01:27 PM I've got nothing but good things to say about Ken & especially Rick at Mazda of Oakland.
Rick always tells me what I have to ask him to get the PCM re-flash. Also, they didn't rip me off on repairs after my run-in with a curb.
HaloX 07-04-2005, 01:03 PM Mazda of Oakland is good. They told me that if my AC condenser ever gets damaged by rocks they could alter data in their computer and claim it was *cracked* and get a new condenser under warranty. Now THAT is good service right there for ya.
D Baize 07-14-2005, 05:20 PM Bluegrass Mazda Great service / no hassles

uh, i bet they dont want you posting this here....MNAO reads this stuff.
Vizacar 07-25-2005, 04:24 PM Here is my story about Darcars Mazda in Silver Spring MD. Copied it from another post. Good for parts and Collision Repair, bad for Mechanical Service...
Took it in.
When I checked in, the guy who took my info had no clue about RX8s. I think he was a Chrysler guy. I had him put down 'check on recall' on my service check-in sheet.
When they pulled my car in, I stood outside the side door and watched the tech. While draining the oil he read my sheet and called the service manager over to check on any recalls since I had written it down. Kind of surprised me as I thought he would know being a RX8 tech. Yes, they are specialized at Darcars. They even come in at 8:00AM, vs 7:00AM, unlike the others. One of the techs even kidded me about that as I dropped my car off at 6:45...hehe, 'you have to wait till 8:00 when the RX techs get in'. I mentioned about the recall for the heat build-up concerning the cat and gas tank and they went to check. Talking to the tech he mentioned some cars get it and others don't. I told him I thought I was in group 1. I told him about reading up on it and was expecting a letter soon about the recall in August.
After they checked, he didn't do anything except get in the car with the big computer reprogrammer and hook up. He didn't check the bushings, harness, gas tank etc.
I also noticed he didn't check my control arms.
I was left with the impression the shop wasn't on top of it as far as the RX8s are concerned.
Some things I did notice though. While sitting in the lounge and watching a couple of techs work on a Lexus, they replaced the master cylinder. One tech walked over with the new one filled and dripped brake fluid all over the side of the front quarter panel. The other tech wiped it up. Even though their hands were dripping in brake fluid they had no concern about touching anything inside the engine compartment or anywhere else for that matter. They did try to wipe it off but I would hate to see the paint in a few weeks. While bleeding the brakes, they didn't hook up a drain hose to the bleed valves. He just opened the valves and let it spray everywhere under the car and run in rivets off the inside of the rims and tires. Totally unprofessional as far as I am concerned. I never saw ANY tech, of the couple dozen or so, use a protection blanket.
When I got my repair statement they never mentioned about bringing it in for the next service. Funny thing is, it was posted in the waiting lounge to expect to get told about the next service and about 30 other things concerning my car. I wan't told anything except where to sign. Unfortunetly I was handled by a cashier who was interested in money vs my car.
On my service invoice the only thing it says, concerning the recall, is 'Performed Recall 33056' Anyone know what that entails? I suspect it is only a reflash as that is all they did. What level...I haven't a clue. The cashier made me feel like I would be asking too much if I pressed the issue.
I will say this though. The parts department was very professional and on the ball. He knew immediately who I was as soon as I started rattling off the dealer installed options they had promised me. He said...'oh you're the Shinka guy who has all those parts on order? I said yea and he surprised me by saying... well Mr. Graham we have all your parts. We got them in just last week.' Come to find out they were even using a few of my options as displays in the parts showroom. They even had my name on them. He then helped me drag all my boxes out to my car.
I next went to their body shop to see about getting the spoiler installed. The service guy there, told me it would take most of the rest of the day...about 5 hours, and I told him I would wait. He seemed surprised but I assured him I had nothing else to do. After taking my car to the back, he came up and told me he would put a person on it right away and it would take 2 hours at the most. 40 minutes later they delivered it to the front after washing my car. Outstanding service there. He never even checked to ensure it was suppose to be dealer installed. He took my word for it. I could have just bought it and lied to him to get them to install it for free.
All in all, I will DEFINITELY go to another dealer for mechanical service. I hear Frank at Anderson's (I believe this is the right dealer), in Virginia is great.
Overall, I like a service department that interacts and can tell you more about your car than you know. They should treat you like your vehicle means as much to them as their does. Make sure you are treating it right, just like they treat theirs. I am use to that type of service on my ZX-6. I expect nothing less. I hate to feel like just another customer, even though that is what I am. I want the tech to come to me and tell me about my vehicle, what shape it is in and what he would do etc..., not just get a page to come to the cashier to pay my bill.
The service department at Darcars was too generic for my RX8 tastes. All of their dealers, go to the same service department. Everything from Toyota, Lexus, Chrysler, Ford, Mazda, Kia, and a dozen others. Not specialized enough.
I will go elsewhere in the future.
psbjames1970 08-01-2005, 10:52 PM So far, my experience with the service department at Heritage of Madza has been superb. They have been patient with me and have offered free rental for any repair over a day (which I've luckly have had none thus far).
They also gave me my first oil change for free and washed my car for me each time I have gone in for something (warranty or not).
I have gotten detailed explanations for each repair done and have been extremely professional and courteous. At least the impression I have gotten is an honest and dependable service department that would like to see you back and will go out of their way to make you feel satisfied. :) :D
grapes 08-02-2005, 03:15 PM (warranty or not) May i inquire as to what would not have been a warranty item on a car this new, (other than oil changes.)
Johnboy 08-16-2005, 10:05 PM Whitby Mazda near Toronto, Canada.
Replaced some things others would probably consider not covered by warranty....hint-condenser. I have since used black galvanized gutter guard WITHOUT taking off the whole bumper to protect the condendser. Just take off the lower plastic pan and forward front wheel well plastic and go to work. I did notify them about the opening to the rad/condenser area before this and they think it is a design fault.
Great bunch of guys and worth the drive in the Toronto area.
EandGWZ 08-17-2005, 10:45 PM Full kudos goes out to Ben Rosario, Service Consultant at Wayne Mazda. Bought my 1 year old 04 8 into the shop today and requested they do the following under warrenty:
1-Squeal front breaks
2-CEL
3-Oil changes and Tire rotation (not under warrenty)
4-Rusting of left/right rear wheel hub
5-AC cooling problems
No questions...took the car in and had a Mazda 3 ready as a loaner.

RetroRotor79 08-24-2005, 07:01 PM These guys are great. Service writer Jim Kelly knows his stuff and is a rotary fan. Fixed my squeaking brakes and replaced my clogged cat a few months ago. Just had the recall done with R flash and car runs sweet. Couldn't be happier with the service.
XerEagle 09-04-2005, 05:49 PM Positive: Capitol Mazda – Petersburg, VA. I’m happy with the sales staff, especially the management. Service center made me feel at home.

Have been very happy with the service manager John. They are a good bunch of folks .... and always have a mazda car for a loaner.
hottrx8chic 09-10-2005, 07:21 PM Good dealer, Colonial Mazda in CT. There is a guy there Jeremy who knows a lot about Mazda's. He is very helpful and talks to me on my level not tryin to act all professional, he is definately cool and knows what he is doing.

First dealer in my life where I don't dread going, always helpful, loaner always on hand. Just the best I have ever seen in service.
wankleman 10-10-2005, 09:33 AM Fairway Mazda in Savannah
set me up with a rental for the day with lil to no hassle, took it in for the fuel tank/lower control arm recall. took it in at 8:00, they called me around 3 to pick it up(i live 45 mins away) oh and the rental was a brand new 2wd 2005 f-150 crew cab, big ass truck style made it weird getting into the 8 again. the truck felt like riding down the road sitting on a couch, while the 8 of course sucked me into the seat and held me tight(she thought i had left her for another sports car i guess) they put in the heat blanket thing and redid my computer to keep it from idleing high, but the service guy said i wasn't effected by the ball joint recall, mines a 2004 A+ service!

No bullshit. Straight forward dealer.
Astral 11-04-2005, 10:34 AM Ira Mazda in Danvers, MA. Sales were great (although I had S-Plan, so only bargained on the trade-in). My first service was great too so far.
classicred 11-11-2005, 04:55 PM I'd give a definite positive to Brown's Mazda in Fairfax, VA. I brought my RX-8 in for the recalls and also mentioned some rattle and noise issues. Greg Harmon went the extra mile, keeping the car a couple of days to try to locate them. They solved them, under warranty. I was pleasantly surprised as one often gets blown off for intermitent noises.
Detrich 11-11-2005, 08:43 PM ALHAMBRA MAZDA (Alhambra, CA): Updated 2.12.2007
Overall: Extremely Poor
Recommend: Absolutely Not
Sales: Marginal
Parts: Acceptable
Service: Extremely Poor
2.12.2007 UPDATE:
MNA told me to have Ricky Tru (svc mgr) look at some chemical residue issues I had w/ Mr. Clean Autodry carwash. He verfied the problem & demonstrated & suggested using a razor blade + glass cleaner. After trying it out myself, I now have $2k worth of damage and need my windows replaced. They denied all responsibility.
9.7.2006 UPDATE:
They made 3 deep, rice grain-sized scratches (all the way to the metal) to my passenger-side front door when I brought the car in for routine oil service. They accepted responsibility, but the damage was done already.
5.5005 DELIVERY:
Salesmen are nice, but my new car was delivered w/ many minor cosmetic flaws- scratches, scrapes etc. They don't handle their cars very meticulously or with much care.
CaptDharma 11-24-2005, 11:02 AM Nelson Mazda-Nashville-Very positive. We bought an 8 and a Tribute in 10 days timeframe. Between Adam and John aka "Rod", I could not have asked for a better experience. The service department is great-Both Ben and Lonnie are very attentive and accommodating. I have sent numerous potential clients down to see them. I would recommend them!
jarrod78 11-29-2005, 02:07 AM Cush Mazda in Escondido, San Diego area is awesome. The sales dept has 75% mazda owners in it, and the service dept has 5 techs that have been working on mazda's over 10 years. We all know it is hard to find people that know what they are doing. If you are in Southern California talk to Josh "sales manager" or Chuck Evans "master technician" they are awesome.
Bad_Karma_RX8 12-23-2005, 02:51 PM Cutter Mazda Honolulu. Got me into my 8 at just 500 bucks over invoice.
wannabe8 01-09-2006, 10:15 AM Service: POSITIVE! (Mar 2005)
Their Mazda tech Jerry spent time talking to me about my RX8 and rotaries in general. He really seemed to know and love rotaries. The service manager told me Jerry had years of experience on rotaries and was highly rated by Mazda as a rotary tech.
I had them change my plugs & do a re-flash under warranty.
The whole service staff was courteous and friendly, but actually speaking to their Mazda tech who was a rotary enthusiast really gave me confidence.
I would recommend their service dept for RX8s based on my experience.

2) Rear Tailight (condesation issue)
3) Battery
4) Starter
5) Plugs
6) All TSBs
Probably more than I can think of at the moment.
Excelent service, these people are why we buy Mazdas!

Seemed to be very up front. Bought a great used car at a great price.
RX8SpdDmn 01-25-2006, 12:55 PM What a refreshing experience, after the nightmare with Kerry. The service writer (LaRon, or Ron, for short) is knowledgeable and is hooking me up and taking care of me. He knows I'm a racer and I was gonna have them remount my tires, but he referred me to a local shop that does a lot of race cars, instead of keeping the business. He admitted that, even though he has the same equipment as them, they'll do a much better job. I've seen a Porsche 911 Turbo track car that they've done, so I trust them fully.
It's smart to take extra care with the racers and enthusiasts. They're the ones that'll drive business in.
Paul Miller has a cool dealership in Mazda's new showroom format, too.

Cheers!
Urchin 01-31-2006, 11:52 PM POSITIVE: Biddulph Mazda in Glendale Arizona.
I have been taking the car there since November 2003, its first scheduled service. THey have fixed everything that needed fixing. I have the 4 year free maintenance, and they have never hesitated following the Schedule II schedule since I do lot of short trips. On the most recent visit they replaced the plugs, air filer, bettery and starter.(the car was starting hard in the mornings), oil and filter. The only item I have paid for in the last 2 1/2 years is the periodic tire rotation and balancing.
All of the service writers (currently Dan) have been pleasant and competent.
wannabe8 02-01-2006, 09:31 PM OK, after sitting in the garage for a week my 8 wouldn't start. After a few brief attempts, I realized it wasn't going to start, and I put the battery on the battery tender over night. Still no start in the morning, even with the de-choking proceedures.
Mazda's roadside assist would only tow the car to the NEAREST dealer, even though I live between two. Because I've had previous experience with Rider Mazda in State College, PA I decided to have the car towed there at my own expense.
Turns out the car was severely flooded (I was told it needed to dry out overnight), and the dealership determined that my 305A battery needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced under warranty, with a pro-rated charge for the part.
But at first, the dealership wanted me to pay for the plugs and de-fouling of the engine. I argued that if the problem was caused by a bad battery that was replaced by the updated battery under warranty, then the plugs and labor should be warranty as well. The dealership agreed to request warranty coverage from Mazda for the plugs/labor as well.
I was later informed that Mazda agreed to cover the work under warranty.
The car is running fine now with new plugs and updated battery.
The dealership was polite and responsive throughout the service experience, and called to make sure I was satisfied with how the work had been handled.
Overall - satisfied with service experience at Rider Mazda.
UPDATE: starting problems continued
Moved to Colorado in the mean time, and took the car to the local Mazda dealership in Colorado Springs when the starting problems continued. I was informed that the starter had a recall on it, and had not been replaced. Also, when the plugs were checked, the old type (pre-recall) had been used to replace my flooded plugs. The dealership in Colorado Springs was very surprised that the previous dealer had not replaced the starter or put in the specified plugs.
Still I'd say my overall experience was satisfied, but be wary.
mlaird 03-03-2006, 08:17 AM If any of you live near Nashua, NH and want a good Mazda salesman, be sure to talk to John Kwiatkowski at Tulley Mazda just off Exit 2. He was absolutely excellent to deal with!
He answered my questions patiently, was never pushy, and followed up with me via email when I reqeusted it instead of the incessant phone calls from some other dealers. When it came time for pricing, he offered a competitive price vs. the other area dealers.
So if you're shopping for a Mazda, be sure to talk to Johnny K. Mention that I sent you; you won't be disappointed!

These folks understand the concept of Customer Service throughout the shopping, acquiring, and ownership cycle. Even when dealing with service issues that both the regional factory rep and MNAO were being jerks about, these folks have consistently done everything in their power to be there for me. Thumbs Up to April, Mark, & Bill!!! :ylsuper: With a switch in regional factory reps in play now (as of April, 2006) and Dan returning (at least for now) as the regional rep for this dealership, this scenario can only get even better!!!

Pistonh8ter 06-01-2006, 09:33 PM Art Hill Mazda in Merrillville, Indiana. Located in NW Indiana about 40mi SE of Chicago. EXCELLENT service. Sean the service writer is very professional. I didn't even buy the car there but they've handled all recalls and TSB's including painting rotors, AC amp, plugs, starter and battery. No questions asked and was appreciative of me handing him the TSB's I found on this site. Also provided a free loaner.
REMillers 06-03-2006, 05:57 PM Bill Britt Fredericksburg.
Have taken the car in for:
-First 2k, the oil light came on. Called them up and they instantly knew the recall for it. 2 days later went in and in less than 1 hour had it fixed.
-Plus they took care of all the other recalls at a later visit (heat issue, flashes etc)
-Go there for oil changes, if it takes longer than 30 mins they came out and said it was free for taking so long. (really 45 mins isn't that long I but cool they do it)
-Went in for the AC acting up, first they tried to blame the XM radio but that was only a belief. The played with the AC and believe it was fixed, asked to try it for a week if not they would order complete new system. 1 week later still acting up, called them up and they order the parts. 4 days later called back to get it install + free loaner etc.
Plus my dad went in to get a oil change done at 30k on his Miata. They accidently did the 30k maintenance in addition. Called him up and told them about the mistake and not to worry that they would cover the cost of both. So got oil change and 30k maintenance for free.
Plus all the service people are easy to deal with, the salespeople ROCk!
NVMYGT 06-05-2006, 05:48 PM Having given up on the dealership that I bought my car at (you can find out why in the NEGATIVE DEALERSHIP thread) I decided to try DON ALLEN AUTO CITY. It's just minutes from downtown Pittsburgh and they have a shuttle that drops off and picks up customers a few blocks from my work. They serviced my RX-8 and even kept it in the garage for me so it didn't get rained on. Everyone at the dealership treated me like a customer should be treated and I was very thankful for it. They're also a MAZDASPEED dealer so when I have some time in the future...
wannabe8 07-05-2006, 10:40 AM Best overall service experience EVER at a Mazda dealership.
Took the RX8 to the shop on Test Drive because of starting problems that continued after taking the car to a dealer in Pennsylvania. They were great from the start... helpful and courteous. Called me later that day to explain what was going on...
Starter needed to be replaced (recall), but none in stock, on order from Mazda. New plugs put in by the PA dealer were not the newer spec. Also suggested brake recall service for brake squeal. Offered a loaner while mine was in the shop.
Service manager called me daily to update me on the vehicle status (that's a first). Car was done a little before promised date, and clean when I picked it up. It starts TOTALLY differently now (and quickly every time - no long cranks).
I couldn't have been happier with their work or their attitude, responsiveness, and courtessy. Also, I noticed I wasn't the only RX8 they were servicing.
Overall a fantastic experience.
RMOnAir 08-04-2006, 07:46 PM HUGE KUDOS to Alex Barajas at Claremont Mazda!
I have been looking for a good deal on a Silver RX-8 w/5speed and Touring Package...I live in Huntington Beach and I drove OVER 30 miles to go buy my new RX from Alex at Claremont Mazda! The rest of the dealers out here in So. Cal are a buch of jack offs!!! They all suck...I tried Heritage in HB, Tustin in Tustin, Mazda of Orange, Norco Mazda, Sierra Mazda, Super Mazda and even Galpin in the Valley. What a bunch of SNAKES!!! Alex took $8000 off the MSRP of my New 2005 RX and he even let me go my Credit Union! If you guys are looking for a good deal...Avoid the drama and just call Alex at Claremont Mazda! :)
RotrDoc 08-05-2006, 01:14 AM ^^^RMOnAir--welcome to the forum. But you don't tell us where you are--I presume it's California.
I just looked at this thread for the first time in a while, and I can't believe I haven't posted here before! I searched for my favorite dealer--Jeff Haas in Houston, TX--and found only one equivocal post.
I bought my car elsewhere, but Haas's Service Department (Manager Keith Cline, Advisor Alan Hempel) are great. They are knowledgeable, helpful, reasonably priced, and give outstanding customer service. Although I have other reasons to visit Houston often, I can truly say that "I drive 400 miles (from Mississippi) for an oil change" and "no one else touches my baby!"

Just overall great experience with them. First dealer to wash and offer to wash my car. Mentioned brake squeal and it was taken care of right away. They have a cool layout at the dealer. Computers everywhere for you to use and GT4 with racing seats and steering wheel. Made my time go by quickly!
Neddie Seagoon 09-04-2006, 04:55 PM STAR MAZDA of West Covina, California (off the I 10): RECOMMENDED.
I've not got any complaints about them - they have always treated me well from the get-go. I got the car at MSRP, rather than for more like some dealers wanted me to pay. I did pre-order the car so that might be why.
Their service-writers are knowlegeable.
I did notice that during my warranty period they recommended oil changes every 7k miles and now it is down to every 3k!!
They have Saturday service but it is mainly oil change and tire service.
I have close to 75K on my RX8. Recently I had to be towed whwen the car went into 'safe mode' because the oil meterering part of the oil pump went bad.
My service-writer (Bill) looked at my service history with them and called Mazda to get me a FREE repair since he ferlt that since I look after the car the oil meter should not have failed. He saved my $1100+!!
They have a rental car agency on tap, so if they need to keep the car they can still get you to work.
Shinka Gamecock 09-04-2006, 05:21 PM Wrey Mazda of Columbia, South Carolina: VERY GOOD DEALER
I'm from pennsylvania, and go to school in columbia at USC. After looking at the school i wandered over to the Mazda dealership and looked at an RX8 shinka which just so happened to be Garnet red (copper red). KENNY DAVIS, who proved to be an excellent salesman eventually sold me the car. I looked around at home and found a great deal on the same car (invoice), and Wrey Mazda actually beat the price by the amount it would cost for travel expenses (gas) to get down there for school and to buy the car. Upon taking delivery there were a few minor problems (visor broken, paint chip/dent, scratch) all of which were going to be taken care of completely at their charge. Because of this, (i was going to order a bunch of accessories) they threw in a few accessories on them and waived all labor charges on the installation!!!!...GREAT DEALER, GREAT CAR SALESMAN!!!!!!

ryank771 10-05-2006, 09:06 AM Hubler Mazda - Plainfield, IN
I've taken my car in a few times since I've owned my 2k5 8 and have recieved nothing but excellent service. They have done the following for me without ANY questions:
Front headlight covers (foggy lenses)
Rear tailight (moisture buildup)
Engine recall (sparkplugs, CC, PCM)
Other misc. recalls
Painted rear bumper (clearcoat pealing)
They have always been very friendly to me and even provided me with a CX-7 when they kept the car during the day. They have even installed a spoiler, strakes and (next week) clear bra for me. When they painted my bumper, they got some overspray on the car and asked me to bring it in ASAP so they could take care of it. They detailed the entire car without me even asking. Honestly, this is the first dealership I've done business with and didn't walk away wanting to hit someone.
RX8FOREAL 10-27-2006, 05:46 PM BIG UPS FOR WANYNE MAZDA
I have had much work done there over the last couple of years and have made some freinds - ie junior, Ben, Hank and Steve - Service Manager.
I had one tail light lens replaced before I hit 50K. at about 55K the other tail light developed moisture in it like the first - I just had an oil change - changed from natural oil to royal purple, 5-30 and when there I told them what happened with the second tail light and I was told they would ask Steve - I was doubtful that it would be fixed under "warranty" but they did replace the tail light at no cost to me. I am impressed and appreciate it.

Called on Wednesday, spoke with Jordan Coate. Explained that I knew what I wanted and saw on the MNAO inventory site that they had 1 2006 left. Offered below dealer. He called back in 20 minutes with acceptance. The rest of the transaction was conducted by phone and fax. Just picked up the car tonight (Friday). Treated first class. No BS.

Service: Positive. I can't say enough about these guys. John Stidham the service manager has always taken excellent care of me. He always took all my issues seriously and was always willing to look at any problem. 95% of the time they were able to figure out the problems and get them fixed right the first time. They did any and all recall work without issue and any TSB work under warranty without issue. They even were able to get me replacement tires with Tire Rack for the best price which I never thought I would ever do through a dealer. I'd highly recommend their service department.
I have no experience with their sales department.
LionZoo 12-08-2006, 03:47 PM Good Guys: Almaden Mazda (Service), San Jose CA
Generally very helpful. Peter, the service manager, has always worked with me to accomodate me. They did (I think) scratch my wheel when remounting my tire, but I'm not so sure if that was really them or not. Even so, Peter offered to pay half and half for a repaint of the rim, and when I refused found a body shop that touched up the wheel for me. Granted, the touch up was not really worth it, but the fact that he went to the length to find a shop to do it says a lot.
Boris and Natasha 12-14-2006, 03:56 PM A big THANX to FREEMAN Mazda and their internet sales manager mike in Irving Texas. He couldn't find what we wanted so he put our order in and we're on the way to pick up our new 8. At a great price too. "Merry Xmas"
Rootski 12-29-2006, 01:30 AM I gave my Mazda another chance after a poor repair job last year, and I am glad I did. The people at Park Mazda are friendly and a pleasure to work with. Salesman Darrin Hess treated my girlfriend and I very well in her process of purchasing a Miata, and their service department amazingly listened to my requests of what I wanted done with my car, and they didn't bat an eye at my aftermarket parts. Good guys.
Cool-Blue-Dad 01-10-2007, 01:24 PM Good Guy - Ontario Mazda Service, Canadaigua, NY
They have a new service manager there named Eric.
This guy has a great attitude, is knowledgeable about rotaries and is great about following up.
I try to save up a couple of things together so I took him a list of 7 things. He investigated each issue dilligently and explained the resolution of every line-item.
He was also flexible about my appointment, the return of my rental-loaner and returned any messages I left promptly.
I didn't meet Paul, the service tech who worked on my car, but Eric said Paul is his rotary specialist and he sets up appointments so Paul can work on the rotaries. Nice that they don't just farm out the rotary engines to any ol' tech on the line.
XUrotaryrocket 01-20-2007, 03:30 PM All I can say about these guys is that they kick ass. I stumbled on them while searching for someplace reputable to take my 3rd gen RX-7. I was tired of driving into other states to have work done. Since we all know that dealerships are traditionally the WORST place to take an RX-7 I was skeptical because I have had some bad experiences.
These guys surprised me. The service writers are nice and they are honest. THey listen to my concerns rather than tell me I'm full of shit.
Most importantly they have TWO of the best ranked Mazda Master Techs in the country Karl (or Carl) and Vic. Both have worked on my 7 and ALWAYS fixed the issue promptly. They have even fixed things that were botched up by other supposedly "reputable" rotary mechanics.
I only had one problem (a belt broke on the 7 and dented the hood upwards while in their care) which was fixed at their cost - no hassles.
A ++++++ all around.
oh, and they took good care of the 8 too.
solito77 02-24-2007, 11:03 PM Brought car in for the "cloudy, residue headlamp" issue and was told by service person "Jesse" that it was due to the Xenonlamps leaking gases. ...Basically defective as far as Im concerned. I thought it was going to be another issue having them replaced under warranty. -NoProb! She ordered them, gave me a loaner and done. No hassle, lies etc. Thanks Jess. I'll drive 40miles out to Duval Mazda for your professional attitude and beautiful smile. ;)

Michael's8 05-30-2007, 10:08 AM Jodi, the service manager there, has been very fair with me and they have handled a myriad of issues (TSB's, emissions recall, rotor rusting/repainting, etc) without any problems. Provided a loaner for emissions recall (though I had to pay the gas). Wasn't familiar with the top-off of my gas on the recall campaign, but when I brought it to his attention, he sent someone promptly out to handle it. If I weren't moving, they'd keep getting my business for sure.
GatorShinka 06-10-2007, 10:35 PM Service writer himself replaced my broken sunvisor and associated blown fuse in less than ten minutes.

Throwdown 12-18-2007, 12:05 AM Putnam Mazda, in Burlingame, CA.
This is the best dealership I've ever been to hands down. After all the trouble I had with Hayward Mazda (see the bad dealerships thread), I took my car to Putnam Mazda, and without even looking at the car they told me that they would be able to replace my starter and my battery no problem.
After I dropped the car off, they complimented me on how it looked. Their senior tech's name is Matt and he's extremely helpful.
So to sum it up...
Hayward Mazda, Dwayne and Rex = crap
Putnam Mazda, Pine and Matt = awesome
POSITIVE: Manhattan Mazda in New York
Bought an 07 Brilliant Black from Manhattan Mazda last week. I spoke with the sale manager Lou and within about 10 minutes he was able to find me a new 07 black touring at a reasonable price. The car was in Rhode Island so it took a few days to get here but there were no surprises such as lojack or satellite radio or extended warranty that I didn't ask for.
When I went to pick up the car my salesguy was nice enough even though he was late to our appointment due to a drop in customer from earlier in the day buying a car.
The car had some vinyl from the Rhode Island dealership on the trunk which the salesguy promised he would remove the next day (it was near closing at this point) and he made good on his promise. He even threw in a few free services to compensate me for waiting to pick up the car.
Overall I would definitely buy from these guys again and would even recommend them to my friends.
I came into the dealership with my own financing so the whole process had very little bs.
SERVICE: TBD. Great Neck is pretty far from me. Are they really that good for those of us that live in the city?
New Yorker 01-14-2008, 04:57 PM SERVICE: TBD. Great Neck is pretty far from me. Are they really that good for those of us that live in the city? Manhattan Mazda has a very poor reputation for service. Yes, I've heard good things about Great Neck Mazda, and Wayne Mazda is very good - I use them. They're the largest Mazda dealer in the country and, until recently, Mazda was the only car they sold! I think they sell more RX-8s than any other dealer, too. (So I figured their mechanics "know" RX-8s better than other "multi-brand" dealerships.)
Wayne Mazda is about a 30-minute drive from the GWB.
dapeopleselbow 02-12-2008, 09:27 AM Positive: Munday Mazda Houston, TX
I just want to thank the guys at Munday Mazda for helping me get a new engine even when my brilliant black had 78,000 miles on it. With no warranty they managed to make some phone calls and get Mazda to replace the flooded engine at no cost. Never again will I turn off the rotary monster when it is cold especially for a car wash :). The good friendly attitude at this service department is a plus. If you guys live in the Houston area I highly recommend taking your ride there for any service needs. As long as you keep your service history Mazda will take care of you.
xsnipersgox 02-13-2008, 09:16 AM Munday Mazda, quite helpful, no bs. I did have to purchase a gas cap from then though because i've ran out of normal 40k mile warranty. he did inform me that i need to take my car in for rx8 emmision recall
Techsan 02-16-2008, 05:29 PM TEAM Mazda/Hyundai Superstore in Vallejo was great! Sal DeRenzi:) Manager of the service department was friendly and did the warranty work on my headlight right away. Great guy! He even ordered a new visor because mine had cracked and it too is covered by warranty!
I'll 2nd that! My warranty had expired last month, and what do you know? One of my taillights started collecting water. I call up and talked to Andrew first, and he said they could probably do a "Good-will" repair for me. I then talked to Sal, and he said that it would be no problem. How great is that? I went in the next day, had it ordered, and 2 days after that the part was in and it only took them 30 min to replace.

Altair 8 05-15-2008, 01:59 AM Diamond Mazda in Baton Rouge, LA is the best dealership I have ever been to, in any make of car. The people there know their stuff, and they are very nice. If you want a Mazda in southern Louisiana they're the people you need to see.
Lafayette Mazda in Lafayette, LA is also pretty good except they forgot to put my engine cover back on when I went in for a recall. Other than that the service is excellent. Ask for Brandon, he owns.
the4v3ry 05-16-2008, 04:43 PM POSITIVE: University Mazda (Seattle, WA) They really know their rotary engines, while some guys working there are gruff and don't want to talk with you, they tend to do TSBs under warranty without asking, give loaner cars, and are seldom wrong.
Rotr8 05-22-2008, 11:04 PM FYI if anybody in the Harford Co./Baltimore Co. area need a good dealer to go to, Go to Bel Air Mazda. I have three Mazda stealerships that are closer, but these guys are great. Mike Weatherman is a great service rep, whos modo is "I'll work on your car and honor the warranty as long as your mods aren't the cause of the problem", and even then he'll work on it as long as you understand its not his job to be obligated to the things you mod. Heith is a great tech(only Mazda tech I let touch my car) whos had 7s and used to race a RB tricked out 7 I have 72k on my car and they have nursed it all way.... sorry just put this as a new thread(still new, and didn't see the pos/neg thread

10/10 for John Brooks!
Stevensfalcons8 07-03-2008, 07:23 PM Ingram Park Auto Center Mazda, San Antonio Tx - Very good

After taking in my car for several CELs, the dealership replaced my plugs, coils, motor mounts, and clutch boot at no cost to me. All other service transactions prompt and efficient.
I will also back this up.
I just picked up my car today from IPAC Mazda after getting a new engine put in my car.
I talked to "Bo" (real name is Mark, but he goes by Bo) and he was extremely straight forward, did not try to talk around my problems, and was very kind.
If you plan on taking your car to IPAC Mazda and you talk to Bo, let him know that he was recommend from this site.
EDIT: And when I ment they did not try to talk around my problem, I ment that they immedietly did a compression test on my engine. IPAC did not try to blame my Cat, spark plugs, wires, or coils. They didn't even do an engine cleaning to see if that helped. They went straight to the heart of the problem and did not try to delay a new install.
And that 2 weeks it took them to order and install the engine. That included the time it took them to diagnose the problem and find out that I needed a new engine. They were extremely fast.
John Hine Mazda, San Diego CA - Negative
Besides always overstating recommended maintenance services (they did a transmission flush on my car at 30K, the recommended service is for 60K, of course I did not have that information when I agree to it), they do not honor their coupons, loyalty program incentives, etc...
Astral 07-29-2008, 05:52 PM Have been taking my car to Liberty Mazda since 40K miles for various services and warranty issues. Make sure you ask for the service advisor Tom, who's been great, knows what's going on and listens to his customers. I also recommend you ask for the tech Mike, who has been doing a great job on all my service and repairs, as well as great precision alignments (you can ask for specific settings and he'll dial them in).
I walked in complaining about low power and asked to inspect the cat. The dealer inspected the cat, but found no issue. The tech noticed the lack of power and ran a compression check, diagnosing the engine with low compression. The engine was then replaced under the extended engine warranty. The engine has been running strong since the replacement.
The dealership has free wireless Internet, so if you're in the line of work where you can do it remotely, you can actually get some work done while you wait.
The dealership does not make appointments. You just show up. At first, I thought it was bad, but now I love being able to show up at 7-7:30am and get my car taken care of the same morning. If you show up in the noontime or so, you probably will have to wait a lot or drop off your car for the day. You can always call them up and ask how busy they are.
The dealership's prices are on the higher end of Boston dealerships (e.g. the alignment is $90 instead of the typical $80, although you can find a coupon usually), but I sleep well knowing that my alignments are exact, tires are balanced well, brakes are bled properly, etc.
Before this, I was going to Ira Mazda in Danvers, and I stopped going after the service manager told me I didn't *really* do my 30K service (when I declined extras like brake cleaning) and after I had to come back three times while they couldn't get a fix for a rattling glovebox damper right. After they finally got it right, I left and the glovebox wasn't even mounted on both sides, it almost fell out when I opened it. I was baffled at the lack of caring and has not set a foot back in.

New '08, 40th, MT, Sirus, Spoiler, Window Etching
First I got to say, all these dealers try to make as much as possible. Where they give up margin, they make it up elsewhere. I my case Doc fee, window etching and how they applied the tax. My numbers changed slightly from my orig estiamtes, but I still think it was a good deal, mostly done over the phone.
List with dest $33,295 w/unrequested $500 addition for window etching (Part of this cost was backed out)
Car Selling Price $ 28,601
Taxable amount $ 26,801
NJ Tax $2,016 (I personally believe this should of been applied after the rebte was deducted, a NYS dealer I was talking to did it that way) it should be consistant. Charging the tax before the rebate is deducted, increases the out the door price by $245.
NJ tire fee $7.50
Online Proce fee $7.70
Reggy/TTL Plates $ 254
Doc Fee $299 (I am sure most of this is profit, as they do this in bulk)
Rebate $3,500
Bottom line: Paid is a total of $27,884 out door after all taxes and fees. A disc off of list (After rebate is applied) of $8,194. A couple hunderd more then I expected (due to tax calc differance).
If I was looking for the more abundent AT Equipped car, I would of been more patiant and shopped more, looking for a betterr price, closer to the $10K others have been reported to be getting.
Revvittupp 08-07-2008, 05:17 PM It's not their OPTION on what number to tax. If they could get you less tax they would. A dealer doesn't receive the tax, the state does. A rebate is NOT a reduction in sale price but a down payment assistance.
Window Etching COSTS $4.
ken-x8 09-07-2008, 10:44 AM Rosenthal Mazda-Nissan, Tyson's Corner, VA. Been there maybe 10 times in the past two years, mostly oil changes. Always in and out in the promised time, always treated well. Last week I had a vibration after a tire balance and rotation. Went back. They looked at it immediately, re-checked everything, and found a bent rim. (Now I know what that "crunch" was a couple of months back.) Balanced it as best they could while I waited, moved it to the rear. NO charge for the extra work.
May not be that big a deal, but over the decades I've dealt with a lot of shops, and I really appreciate quality service and customer care.
Thanks to Rob Arrington for providing great service.

rjs2005 09-09-2008, 12:06 PM Stokes Mazda, North Charleston SC- Positive. My 04 dropped an ignition coil, killing the catalytic converter in the process. I nursed the sick ol' girl to Fairways Lincoln-Mercury/Mazda in Savannah, GA. I was promptly ignored by the service writer until I basically got in his face and asked if he thought he could get to my car. He informed me there was no way he would be able to work my car in that day. Reluctantly, I left the car there and continued on to Charleston SC with my wife in her car (we were traveling separately). The next day (Friday), I waited until 2:30 PM to call the dealer and was told, and I quote, "We ain't gettin' to it today. We ain't gonna look at it 'til Monday. That's the best we can do." I called Mazda roadside assistance and told them the situation, they called the dealer and got the same runaround, and they called me back and said "Where would you like your car towed, sir?" I asked for Stokes in N. Chas (that's where I was-I have a house in Goose Creek) and they told me they would pay 1/2 if I would cover the remainder. I agreed, and my car was towed there. They finally got my car late Friday evening (around 9:30pm), the service writer (Mazda Matt) assured me my car would be diagnosed on Saturday, and sure enough it was. They didn't have a catalytic converter, so they had one overnighted and my car was ready Tuesday morning. They even took out the seats and carpets to check the paint underneath because there was some smoke from under the console. All repairs covered under warranty, they washed and cleaned out my car, I was totally happy with the experience.
Moral of the story: Fairways Mazda in Savannah= BAD.
Stokes Mazda in North Charleston=GREAT!!!

They fixed the sun visor under warranty without even blinking, shuttled me to and from the dealership for free, and took $50.00 off the quoted price for all my work just because they felt bad for all the problems I have had over the last month. I chatted with the technician and he was very knowledgable about the car and a cool guy. The assistant service manager Samantha is really cool and stayed in pretty constant contact with me while they had the car to make sure I knew if they were waiting on parts etc. I'm going to keep taking my car back there!

Oh noez, not another Wayne Mazda Post . Yes it's true. Wayne Mazda is the greatest dealership on the east coast. Great service and work. Although I didn't get the well known Kevin to work on my car, I did have another one of their techs Dave to do the work. Kevin was a little busy, but none the less, Dave did a great job.

rjs2005 11-24-2008, 12:33 PM McGough Mazda in Montgomery, AL has closed it's doors effective 21 November 2008 due to poor sales and the credit crisis. Over 50 employees from the Mazda and Pontiac-GMC dealer are looking for jobs.:sadwavey:
PaQuiN 01-07-2009, 11:35 PM Bad dealer - Whitby Mazda. I know its small but these guys quoted me at $10.99 plus tax for an oil filter. Also made no mention of the need to replace oil drain plug ring.
Good dealer - Ajax Mazda. These guys gave me the filter for $5.99 plus tax AND threw in a new oil drain plug ring that I had no idea I needed to change.
andrew_RX8 02-05-2009, 01:02 AM Wayne Mazda for the win!! :D ....took my car there for the scheduled service as usual and in 2 hours everything was done and i was on my way back home.....
Myriad 02-19-2009, 03:20 PM Pearson Mazda - Richmond, VA
Went there to get my tires rotated and oil changed (Yeah, yeah, I know, at college and it NEEDED to be done)
Service was the best out of any Mazda dealer I'd been to (3 total in SE PA and DE), and the service advisor actually knew about the rotary (asked me if I knew about flooding risk, etc.)...definitely the best service I've had at a Mazda dealership.
WTBRotary! 02-19-2009, 11:58 PM HILEY MAZDA OF HURST, TX- POSITIVE
bought my car here....no pressure what-so-ever. car was detailed beautifully. my salesman offered to take me to lunch while they getting the car already, due to the fact that there were a couple other cars ahead of mine!!!
HILEY MAZDA OF HURST, TX- POSITIVE One up on Hiley Mazda of Hurst, TX... I had 3 new engines in one month and there was no hassle with them at all... (besides getting the new engines) Service manger is amazing and very kind and understanding...

mkztg 04-03-2009, 07:18 PM POSITIVE: Power Mazda - Salem Oregon. Steve in the Service department went way beyond normal customer service. I am stuck in Germany with a US SPEC car (US ARMY) and I can't get the local Mazda dealership to help me because I am not "euro spec". I called Power Mazda because they are in my hometown. Bottom line is, Steve helped me troubleshoot a problem over the phone and called me back every time - just like he said he would. Thanks for your help Steve. Unfortunately my 8 needs a flash that the German Mazda place can't (won't) help me with.

[K]Jae 06-23-2009, 04:35 AM Any good mazda dealerships in California? Specifically around S.F, San Jose or Oakland?
G-ReX 09-17-2009, 10:12 PM Thumbs up for Hall Mazda in Virginia Beach, VA. A 20 month old Mazda battery died & got replaced under warranty. While it was in, they found the engine mounts going bad 2 weeks before my powertrain warranty expires. The car is back to it's old smoothness at idle and full throttle; I'd forgotten how it felt since the change was gradual.
mcain 02-13-2010, 04:19 PM Rosenthal Mazda - Tyson's Corner, VA: Good Mazda Service. Reliable and honest technicians and leaders. They even helped me with documentation when I had an issue with another dealership nearly killing the '8.
Rosenthal Mazda - Gaithersburg, MD: Most of the sales team is solid. JB especially has great service and follow up. Service, however, is awful (this is the dealership that nearly killed the '8). Synopsis: if you do buy at Rosenthal-Gaithersburg despite the service dept., service in Tysons. One important note: I used to love the service dep't here 3-4 years ago but this has decreased steadily and heavily in the past few years.
MazDangerous86 02-21-2010, 12:25 PM +1 Hall Mazda in Virginia Beach Va.
Marino in sales hooked me way up with my 09 GT 8 and my 08 Speed3 before that. Greg in service knows his stuff and keeps me well posted when my baby's in the shop.
SheffieldSteel 03-12-2010, 04:09 PM Nelson Mazda, Tulsa OK Sales and service - both positive. They took very good care of me.
Capital Mazda, Cary NC Sales - positive. They went out on a limb to get me a car that was right for me... twice.
TheWulf 04-09-2010, 09:39 AM Elite Mazda, Gatineau, QC, Canada: AWESOME dealership, staff and service. I never feel like I'm at a dealership when I'm at Elite, almost feels like a friend's shop. Anyone in or near Ottawa/Gatineau should make the drive out there for whatever they need. I drive by 3 other dealerships to get there. That really says something.
terch1 05-10-2010, 10:45 AM Mazda Turnersville, NJ = Positive. New engine replacement due to low compression. Head mechanic has 20+ years working for Mazda. Knows rotary inside and out.
Mazda Maple Shade, NJ = Negative. Service department plagued with idiots who know nothing about the 8 other than that its manufactured by Mazda.

...concerning the Service Dept.
For: Fantastic Service Dept.
I brought my car here today. I was pleasantly surprised because I was sure I saw a negative on the dealership in the Negative Sticky. First off, wickedly clean service area. The service reps were friendly and efficient. I dealt with Will Rodriguez and he was professional, courteous, and knowledgable.
My Problem
o I had been told my brakes were bad at a Pre-Owned dealer in Watertown, Fucillo Imports (bad dealer). I had replaced my brakes about 30k mi ago and was not feeling any bad brake symptoms. I checked myself and thought they looked good; wanted a second, professional, opinion.
o Odd vibration at speed in rear passenger wheel. Very similiar too bad wheel bearing. I lifted the car, took a look, attempted to wiggle the wheel... after negative on my end, wanted a second opinion.
The Solution
Instead of just saying my brakes and bearings were bad and raping me of about a grand, the service department did a free inspection to diagnose my problems. My brakes were, in fact, still good. The vibration was from my TIRE (which I never would've guess because I rotate those things all the time). They said the tire was slightly chopped and that was causing the vibration. I realized I had a chopped front tire and rotated it to the back which exaggerated the vibration. If I keep it back there it'll even it back out... but no biggy! They replaced my wipers to keep my inspection-worthy, charged me $22 and sent me on my way in about an hour.
M Theory: Code Red 11-04-2010, 09:42 PM POSITIVE, Tustin Mazda. All the guys are super knowledgeable about the cars and how finicky the 8s can be. Right away I knew I was in the right place when 2 things happened that I haven't witnesses elsewhere. First, when the guy greeted me he walked around the car and then handed me a copy of all the nicks and dings on the car ensuring that if anything happened while at the dealership we would both be aware of it. Awesome.
Second, another 8 came out of the back and the guy driving it revved it for 10-13 seconds before shutting it off. I've been to other dealerships that 'claim' they know to do this.. but still don't.
So thumbs up to Tustin and they will continue to have my business... plus it gives me a nice reason to get the hell out of Hollywood! :bootyshak
aandeprep 11-23-2010, 05:50 PM wasn't a mazda dealer but i got my RX-8 at shannon auto sales Manassas VA great people excellent service and a great price
Bail-Dawg 04-16-2011, 12:11 PM Best Dealership I've Ever Been To: Elite Mazda Gatineau Quebec Canada. They have 2 Rx-8 master service techs both know exactly what to do to fix things. No other dealership was willing to reprogram my ABS and they did and even gave me a good deal on the price.
The dealership is also very comfortable. They have an internet lounge, free coffee, a hairdresser, Play station for the kids and massaging chairs. All free
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
MariesRX8 06-25-2011, 02:29 PM North Penn Mazda, Colmar PA

People were friendly, prices are average, service was high quality and done quick.
Highly recommend this dealership.
CaptainJ 09-21-2011, 05:24 PM Varney Mazda in Bangor Maine, AWESOME! the service manager went out of his way to help me get a new engine from Mazda for free (I hadn't heard about any recall at that point) Great communication as well.
Goofy 10-17-2011, 12:31 PM I agree with Astral from way back in 2008, Liberty Mazda has been a dream to work with. Tom's a great guy and Liberty will do right by you.
Rotary-Kytten 10-30-2011, 08:54 PM Kings Mazda - Cincinnati, Ohio
Service writers and mechanics know and pray to the rotary Gods. If you want honest people who won't give up on trouble shooting issues then they are the right place to take your rotary powered ride. They have done lots of work for me and met every challenge with grace under pressure.
