I just put a down payment of $500 on a silver RX-8 (all black leather inside), with grand touring, and nav. I just wanted to run by what I'm paying and let me know if I should change anything before I pick it up on Monday.

I am getting the car at dealer invoice. So it's $30,573 for the car.

The car doesn't come with a spoiler or apperance package. So the dealer is adding on:

$1040 for mazda speed spoiler + $130 for install
$2004.70 for apperance package (including install)

I can deal with the MS spoiler costs, but the install costs on the apperance package is killer.

Total price is $33,043.

Total with tax, title, tag, etc (out the door price): $35,736.42

I'm considering dropping the apperance package. What do you guys think? And what do you think about the price?

sounds good except the appearance package. msrp on it is only around $900, invoice is like $7xx i think. check out edmunds.com to find out what invoice is, as well as what people are paying around you.

 

Sounds like a good deal overall. Appearance package seems a little high. BTW, what does the mazdaspeed spoiler look like?

 

Yeah... I'm thinking about dumping the apperance package. I can live with 31k for the car+nav+grand touring+ms wing, and get an aftermarket apperance at a later date.

I like this setup, as I don't have to pay for the moon roof deflector, no rotary accents, no extra spare tires, etc. Just get exactly what I need and nothing extra (well... don't get me started on the grand touring, cause all I really wanted was leather........)

 

btw... I just checked edmunds, and they claim the base car plus:

Gives a dealer invoice of $30,386

So my price is off by a little. Their invoice definately said $30,573 ....

 

I thought that MSRP of all the Mazdaspeed stuff included installation?

 

I don't know, but I did speak with several non-Mazda Speed dealers who said they used to be mazda speed, but refused to be extorted by Mazda in selling their parts. I was told Mazda charges them several thousand dollars to sell MS parts. Unless there is a good reason for that, it sounds like a bad deal all around.
