Does anyone know what this is for? To me it seems to look like a cd slot, but next to the start button?

Dude, that is a super old picture of the RX-Evolv. That slot was for the key-card, which - in addition to allowing you to start the car - also stored driver preferences (auto or manual mode, and other settings). We're not getting that nor the start button.

In Japan the start button is a dealer option for all us die hard S2Kers.

Christ, this is getting worse and worse.

First we (in the UK) are limited to 4 colour option, then no internal colour options unless choosing the vel red, nobody knows what the red will really look like, dealers have not got a clue and now no starter button which in all the photos and I really wanted!!

This starting to grate.

This is starting to grate.I see you only signed up 4 days ago. Many of us have been following the car for 2 years or more. The starter button was gone about a year ago.

Let's not major in the minors. The heart and soul of the original RX-Evolv is 95% there. All these little do-dads can, and will, be available in the aftermarket.

European cars have key card/start buttons.

I LOVE start buttons. I also love wood dashboards with a fat red start button. Ah well, there is also 'after-market'....

Well congratulations Puppy, 2 years and still waiting. Yes, recently registered on here (little longer than 4 days) but following car lot longer longer. Luckily this is a free forum and my view is that the started motor looks great and all the pictues I have seen (including dealers leaflets in house NOW) show the starter motor.

I like the red button!

Dealer could not tell me about the starter button (yes or no) but the leaflet being handed out in the UK show the button which I think looks great and is quite unusual. Hence my disappointment!

Once the RX8 freenzy picks up there will soon be many more newbies registerring here and I suggest that oldies like you should readily share information as opposed to trying to sound ever so smart. ie your initial comment would have been apt and fully accepted had it been restricted to the last sentance in the 1st para.

Whilst many oldies can input due to there vast experience in following this car, many others are on this site to read, learn and pose questions, some may be naive or repeats of earlier enquiries. Your attitude will restrict this freeflow of information and drag down the purpose of the 'discussion' thread offered on this site.

I have to agree with Rael here. Ther ARE some people on these forums whose only purpose is obviously to annoy and waste bandwidth. We all just pretty much ignore them. However, people with genuine inquisitiveness tend to get slammed a bit. That hardly seems fair. I don't think it is SO bad, but it does happen a little bit. Something to keep in mind...:cool:

Edit: FWIW, I don't think Puppy was really out of line, per se. I think he just assumed you were new to the car since you were new to the forum. A bad assumption that created a little misunderstanding. It happens. It's easy for us "oldies" (do I qualify?) to think that anyone who's been following this great car for 1, 2, 3 years has become a member here since then to discuss and follow up, but that's not really the case. In truth, I didn't come across this forum until long after I started following the car, and there certainly weren't as many posts to search through. Also, a lot of information has changed and been released over the last few weeks, compared to the past. So folks who are just signing on now don't have it as easy as those who signed on a ways back. There is much more information AND misinformation floating around now than ever. We should probably try to keep that in mind, and have some patience with folks who don't know who to listen to, and who not to.

Yikes! Sorry that was so long. I hope it made some kind of sense.
