After installing, I was uneasy about the 2 pieces of "ECU" laying ontop of each other, unmounted, and potential vibrating.

My mod:

1/4" Foam and 1'2" foam obtainable from any hobby shop which is used to insulate batterys for model airplains/helicopters.. (Basically white dense foam).

between the 2 ECU's, 1/4" foam, 1/2" foam on the top Ecu (canzoomer mod), 2 large rubber bands to 'tie' then togeather.

Close the box and drive.

To me, this will prevent vibration damage to the electronics and/or metal-to-metal rubbing of the units.

Not a bad idea.

When I hear the word foam, dissipating heat does not come to mind. Can't tell from your description whether the foam woud trap heat or block air flow?

Be carefull with heat! The PCM needs proper air cooling, the foam acts as an insulator, it may be bad for the heat dissipation of the electronics.

I think it is a great idea to shock mount in between the ecu's- - however just using 4 small squares of foam in the corners will shock mount and allow air to flow. I think I'll try that once my CZ unit comes in in the next few weeks.

If you look critically at the stock "cooling system" in the PCM box, I think you will agree "cooling" is not an applicable description. They rely on air to air heat transmission through plastic. Plastic is not known as a great conductor of heat.

In our experience the PCM gets "warm", not hot. I doubt there will be a problem.

ALso, personally I prefer the 4 small adhesive rubber feet to separate them and allow airflow vs foam.

But it is something I thought about and tried to prevent :D

Omicron, what kind of donut did you use? I am thinking of using whole wheat since is is denser than a traditional flour unit. I also believe the center hole will provide the necessary airflow, and Canzoomer should update his install directions to include this mod.

Of course, I used whole wheat. Actually, glazed whole wheat, as I found the glazing anchored it well to the ECU and CanZoomer unit.

I used a 3" long pc of adhesive one side weather stripping foam, running front to back, between the two units to absorb some of the vibration. This stuff is about 1/2" thick, uncompressed.

We did not think of this because we have no krispy creme's in Edmonton. You must send us a box so as we can test this mod. perferablly fed ex over night in an air tight container.

I plan on using two -uh- feminin napkins, one on top, one underneath the mod.

With wings, of course.

Er, I seem to recall my unit already having some small rubber feet that should cushion shock and allow air in between the boxes. But it's home on my dining room table at the moment (not re Krispy Kreme). Do I recall right or am I Just Whistling Dixie?

I think Tim Hortons' Tim Bits would work great on each corner of the ECU, since we don't have Krispy Creme here in Canada. :D

Tip: Don't use the jelly filled Tim Bits.

You are right there are rubber feet.

Received my Stage 1.1 on Friday, was ordered on January 14. I have an appointment for PCM Flash on Tuesday so I will wait until then to install.

FYI....My unit did not have rubber feet on the bottom. I will purchase locally. I informed the Canzoomer crew.
