I finally own an RX-8! Today I took it from the dealer and it's far better than I thought it would be. Amazing. I planned on staying under 4.500 rpm for at least the first 1.00 km, but that is wishful thinking... ^__________^
Anyways, a couple of question: is the external temperature sensor a little "creative" about the actual outside temperature or is it just mine?
And, I know of the oil "problem" (the need of topping it up frequently), I didn't know the dealer would tell me I CANNOT DO IT: he said I had to go to the dealer's garage and have them do it for me every time!!! Is it normal? :-/

Finalmente ho ritirato la mia RX-8... davvero fantastica, molto piu' di quanto mi aspettassi. Non sono riuscito a stare sotto ai 4.500 giri per piu' di venti chilometri... ^_________^
Un paio di domande: l'indicatore della temperatura esterna e' accurato o qualcuno ha avuto dei problemi?
E soprattutto: il concessionario sostiene che io non posso fare i rabbocchi per conto mio, quando ce n'e' bisogno devo passare da loro, senza appuntamento, e me lo fanno al momento loro!!! Ma e' normale???

Ho visto che quando l'auto è ferma, ma già calda, il termometro segna una temperatura più alta, devo scoprire dov'è posizionato. Quando sono in marcia sembra ok, ma non ho mai verificato (non ho altri termini di paragone).

Per il rabbocco dell'olio, a me il conce ha dato una bottiglia in più. Evidentemente vogliono tenere sott'occhio i consumi. Comunque 1 litro pretendilo, non si sa mai :-)

Outside temp is accurate (ish) when you've been moving, sat still it monitors the temp round it rather than air flow.

Topping the oil up is EASY SIMPLE AND YOU SHOULD DO IT.

Takes 1.7 litres from empty mark to full.

Check level with dipstick.

If you need to top up :

Remove engine cover (lift from t part verticaly then pull horizontaly towards you).

Unscrew oil filler cap, pour in some oil.

Your done, easy.

My car uses about 1 litre per 2000km.

You can top up the oil yourself.

I spoke with my dealer, he said something about "they told me to tell customers they can't top it up by themselves, but I'll check again and I'll let you know...".
Oh well...

What's worse, my dealer has no oil to sell, though he had ordered it a week ago, I had to go to another one to buy it...
