WTBRotary! 01-06-2012, 09:56 PM Tempting!!! Its either these or some Enkei RPF1's... :suspect:
What seems to be the spring rate everyone runs for F&R? Just 9K front, 6K rear or has anyone done anything more aggressive?
tiltmode43 01-06-2012, 10:33 PM Most go with 9K/6K though we are bringing over a number of 10K/7K as well, as a fair number do request these rates.
General rule of thumb is drop first, then wheels, or do both at the same time ;P
mistahjg 01-09-2012, 01:02 AM do they make for s2? if so, how much plus shipping to guam,

I've run 10k/7k before and I'm running 11k/8k right now. Just depends on what you want to do with the car. What are your goals?
blazenblue63 01-11-2012, 11:06 AM Sent you a pm tiltmode. I'm very interested in these.
Dan507 01-11-2012, 12:32 PM what sort of deal can you do shipped to England. BH15 3HB
tiltmode43 01-11-2012, 01:05 PM All PM's replied!
Dan,
Can you PM me a full shipping address? Our Door 2 Door rate may surprise you :)
Thanks,
Matt

Well I thought my Koni yellows were blown so i was going to get them revalved to fit some custom spring rate springs from Hypercoil... but now that I know my Koni Yellow's arent blown I was looking into a decently good coilover.
Goals: AutoX with some Track use.
Ive always felt the Tein S. Tech springs were way too soft. Was gonna have Hypercoil make me a 400ftlb front spring and 250-275 rear spring, which is why I was thinking more of the 10K/7K setup

Well lets start by sorting out your units of measurement lol. I think you mean 400lb/in not 400lb/ft.
That setup from Hypercoil you wanted would be approximately 7k/4.5k.
10k/7k is almost 150% the stiffness the Hypercoils would have been to put that into perspective.
If the car is a daily driver, it depends on how bad the roads are where you live. All the roads in Arizona are pretty much as smooth as glass which is why I don't care about running a really high spring rate. 9k/6k with some big sway bars like Progress Techs is going to be more than enough for AutoX with the occasional track day mixed in. 10k/7k is just a bit stiffer and you'll get a little bit less body roll but unless you're on the track a lot going through bigger high G corners or really big braking zones you won't feel too much of a difference IMO.
mavictb 01-14-2012, 03:58 AM I'm getting ready to put my deposit down soon... how long do these GBs usually take?
also I am getting ready to visit the shop to get my fenders rolled... any advise on that other than cutting fender tabs?
edit I will be running 18x9.5 +20 with 245/40's but I will run spacers if I have room
mavictb 01-16-2012, 02:46 AM I was reading over the details again... apparently I fail at reading at 2 am.
bump for a sick deal tho.
tiltmode43 01-16-2012, 03:57 PM PM's all replied!
Personally, I would recommend waiting until you have your wheels on before doing any fender work. Nothing worse than doing too much fender work and having more sunk wheels or not doing quite enough and still have rubbing, even after paying.
willnordacgreen1211 01-16-2012, 11:13 PM dont know if this is the place to ask this, but how do these coils ride? Im interested in this group buy and wanted to know if they were comfortable for daily driving? Of course they will see track as well so im not expecting rolls royce comfort :P
Arca_ex 01-16-2012, 11:51 PM dont know if this is the place to ask this, but how do these coils ride? Im interested in this group buy and wanted to know if they were comfortable for daily driving? Of course they will see track as well so im not expecting rolls royce comfort :P
They're VERY streetable.
To be honest I love these things on the street. I actually prefer these over stock for daily driving, just makes the car feel much sportier. Also a couple posts up I talked about streetability vs. track needs, maybe that will help you decide as well.
tiltmode43 01-17-2012, 11:43 PM Got a good questions via PM so I decided to post here as well:
hey I was reading over the GB parameters a few times and I had a question.
do the coils still ship to a customer that paid in full if you don't have all 15 slots filled up?
Yes they do!
Main key to the Powertrix GB would be the pricing. The coilovers will be coming over regardless but once they arrive, pricing goes up a bit to standard retail.
mavictb 01-18-2012, 06:39 PM I'm stoked to get these! I cant wait for spring break stance status now.
tiltmode43 01-18-2012, 06:50 PM Updated the list, welcome to the club mavictb!
Rest of those PM's replied as well!
tiltmode43 01-19-2012, 12:35 PM bryan4140, welcome to the club! :wavey:
Here is another great question that I would like to post publicly for anyone who was wondering!
Hey tilt I just paid my deposit and was just wondering, do i just pay the second half of the cost via another deposit when I get the money? and do you need my info now or when I pay the second half?
Thanks, I'm really looking forward to these!
The remainder of the deposit will be due when the coilovers land stateside. I will be updating the thread soon with some deadlines as I can tell more and more people are getting ready to pull the trigger.
With regards to second half payment, I can provide another link, or you can basically use the initial link for completion. I will post up more information as we get closer to the current ETA.
mavictb 01-20-2012, 08:07 PM I got an email from Charles park... I'm assuming that doesn't apply to se3p buyers?
tiltmode43 01-20-2012, 08:16 PM Correct - when you place your deposit or payment in full, you are added to the Powertrix mailing list for instant updates :icon_tup:
mavictb 01-20-2012, 08:20 PM Cool.. not trying to clutter the thread more or less bumping it lol
tiltmode43 01-20-2012, 08:44 PM The more questions that come here, the better!
moonkid 01-21-2012, 12:14 AM this coilovers are the fucking bomb.com(if anybody still says that phrase) they can go stupid low, my car has rolled and slight pull fender plus shaved tabs and i droped them All the way and the chassis was sitting on top of my tire with like another half an inch to rest on..
old pic with the bumper tabs not shaved
http://www.flickr.com/photos/72634124@N04/6734514519/
on another hand get ready to be checking this thread EVERYDAY waiting on this to get to your door, you just can't sit still
tiltmode43 01-21-2012, 12:40 AM moonkid - Thanks for the kind words!! Time to update that signature :icon_tup:
Powertrix don't only go low, they are a good performer within this price range. Be sure to keep that in mind everyone, they are not only designed for height adjustability, but performance as well :)
willnordacgreen1211 01-21-2012, 03:02 PM ^ and thats why Im putting in my deposite very soon.
MinHoSII 01-24-2012, 12:48 AM PM'd...just sent in the deposit :)
tiltmode43 01-24-2012, 01:25 PM Thanks, updating OP now!
Someguyposting 01-24-2012, 11:33 PM Probably a little too early to ask but will there be a 3rd GB in the future?, by the end of year maybe sooner I'll be in the market for coils and it was love at first sight with these!
tiltmode43 01-26-2012, 01:32 AM Powertrix coilovers are going to be a long term offering for the SE3P platform. We are considering stocking coilovers for this platform to sell @ regular price. GB would be ideal to lock in the lower cost.
So in short, yes, there is a chance Powertrix coilovers will be available after the GB ends and there will most certainly be another GB in time.
Just updated OP with the 10K/7K offering :icon_tup:

tiltmode43 02-08-2012, 12:02 PM All PM's replied and updated the list!
Expecting a few more to pull the trigger shortly. PM me or post here if you have any questions :wavey:
mazdaspeed306 02-08-2012, 12:35 PM I was going to get HSD's but these look identical and cheaper do you ship to canada?, just wondering though how come stance and HSD have 175mm rear springs but these ones have 200mm?
tiltmode43 02-08-2012, 12:53 PM With the 175mm rear length spring binding can/will occur under certain circumstances - the 200mm spring length solves this issues others have had. This is one of the differences between PT and some of the other options out there. I'll send you a PM regarding the shipping difference :icon_tup:
tiltmode43 02-08-2012, 01:14 PM And another one joins the Powertrix crew!
If you are looking for custom spring rates not listed, feel free to PM me and I'll make it happen :icon_tup:
tiltmode43 02-10-2012, 07:52 PM All PM's have been answered!
These will fit SI & SII RX8's alike :icon_tup:

Converted 02-10-2012, 08:20 PM Okay, I'm in.

godesshunter 02-13-2012, 11:26 AM Where are these manufactured?
tiltmode43 02-13-2012, 12:36 PM Where are these manufactured?
Powertrix coilovers are produced in an OEM & aftermarket suspension factory in Korea, rather than many competitors' countries of origin of China & Taiwan :Peace:
Updated OP list again! Welcom godesshunter, you will not be disappointed!
willnordacgreen1211 02-13-2012, 03:03 PM cant wait for these to come in! I have a date with the track less than a week from the projected delivery date! hope they get here for it!!:fingersx:
tiltmode43 02-13-2012, 07:18 PM My fingers are crossed too Will!
The closer we get to the ETA, the more active this thread will become. I'm excited and I don't even have anything coming in
willnordacgreen1211 02-13-2012, 08:59 PM if it comes down to it ill install them in the pits! lol
Piroxide 02-14-2012, 01:33 AM Ok, I've trolled this site long enough to know "If it's tiltmode approved, it's gotta be good."® I've sat on the fence trying to justify the huge pricetag on the Tein SuperRacing Coils, and just can't stomach the 75/1 yen rate. PM me details if there are a set of 10k/7k still available, and I'm sold. (I run/love the 14k/14k on my FD), The price and quality on these meets/exceeds everything else I can find including the Stance GR+. Thanks!
Rigoherrera 02-15-2012, 11:03 PM OK no BS, but put me on the list for another set..lol...gonna slam me another 8
mavictb 02-16-2012, 04:51 AM are these on the boat yet?

Back up and running though, all PM's replied!
Piroxide - Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated! Nothing will touch these coils for the value :icon_tup:
Rigo - Haha, really? LOL!
mavictb - I'll find out the current status and update here for you guys!
Rigoherrera 02-17-2012, 02:22 AM lol, yes, i got a friend who has an 8 but hes not on the forum, he was gonna buy some shitty coils, so talked him into spending a few extra bucks and get these..lol

Any update on the shipping? Still ETA first week of March?
blaz15 02-20-2012, 12:30 PM Anybody know anyone or anywhere I can get my engine replaced in l.a or O.C and how much? Thanx
alnielsen 02-20-2012, 06:15 PM Anybody know anyone or anywhere I can get my engine replaced in l.a or O.C and how much? Thanx
Your local Mazda dealer. Next time don't crap on some irrelevant thread. Start your own.
tiltmode43 02-21-2012, 04:18 PM ETA is still accurate! :icon_tup:
Al - Thanks for the post; probably just saw locations and replied in the first thread they saw. Sincere mistake, I bet :)
Blaz - Contact your local Mazda dealership, Lucky 7 Racing, Rotary Reliability and Racing, Neptune Speed, J&G Automotive, etc. for more details. There are quite a few rotary shops in Socal than can rebuild for you, I would recommend making a thread in the Socal section or googling.
Piroxide 02-21-2012, 07:04 PM Paid in full! Now I'm toying with the idea of shipping the wheels USPS so I can put them on the car as soon as I arrive in San Antonio... I guess I could just get spacers for the stock R3 wheels in the meantime. So hard to be patient!
mavictb 02-21-2012, 07:17 PM Paid in full! Now I'm toying with the idea of shipping the wheels USPS so I can put them on the car as soon as I arrive in San Antonio... I guess I could just get spacers for the stock R3 wheels in the meantime. So hard to be patient!
I hear that... my tax return fell through so I have to settle for spacers too lol.
Are-Ex-Eight 02-21-2012, 08:03 PM Ahhhhh I really want these. How easy is the install and adjustments?
tiltmode43 02-21-2012, 08:20 PM By adjustments do you mean damper stiffness or ride height?

OP updated again!
There may be 1-2 sets opening up again; I need to double check payment status with two people.
Also, for those of you who were interested in getting on board, let's keep our fingers crossed that the factory sent some extra sets. There is a good chance this is the case but I don't know for certain at the moment. I will keep this thread updated!
Ibanezrg31 02-26-2012, 11:46 PM IS the deadline to pay for the other half of the deposit tonight!??
mavictb 02-27-2012, 12:21 AM IS the deadline to pay for the other half of the deposit tonight!??
Yes by 11:59pm PST.... its currently 10:22pm PST.
tiltmode43 02-27-2012, 12:26 AM To clarify, the deadline tonight is to lock in your set 100% - be it via 50% deposit or payment in full.
If you only have the deposit, that's still okay for now :icon_tup:
Arca_ex 02-27-2012, 12:48 AM If anyone is on the edge about these, here's me pulling 1.4G's on street tires at about 70MPH. Almost no body roll yo!
And they go super low for all you super stance bros. :p:

tiltmode43 02-27-2012, 01:12 AM Good all-around setup - can be used for performance and/or dropping too much; that would be the user's choice
Thanks for the post Arca_ex :icon_tup:
tiltmode43 02-27-2012, 01:42 AM Big updates on the first page for those considering - we confirmed a total of 20 sets were loaded/shipped. We sold out of 10k/7k but still have three sets of 9k/6k up for grabs - PM me for more info/with any questions!
mavictb 02-27-2012, 02:37 AM so can I expect a package at the door late next week?
tiltmode43 02-27-2012, 02:45 AM Currently everything looks to be on time - I'll update once I get confirmation that everything has cleared customs (fingers crossed!)
mavictb 02-27-2012, 09:26 PM I was hoping to get these before the 19th for my California 101 coast cruise with the gf. Looks like they may not make it in time...
From powertrix....
Production has finished and the shipment is on board and on the way to us as of Friday the 24 th .
Estimated US landing is approximately March 8 th -10 th and arrival to our location approximately between the March 8 th to the 16 th
tiltmode43 02-27-2012, 10:14 PM Damn, I got a 12 hour jump from the mass email but didn't get a chance to update this thread until now, by the time the mass email already went out!
If things go smoothly, there is a chance you may still receive them; shipping from SoCal to NV doesn't take too long.
As usual, fingers crossed!
Also, jjc3925 - Got that 10k / 6k setup for you, as requested, no extra charge :icon_tup:
Rigoherrera 02-27-2012, 10:19 PM no extra charge for spring upgrade?! wtf! lol how much for stiffer spring tilt? i really need them
godesshunter 02-27-2012, 10:24 PM As long as they get here before april 1st. im happy. Test and tune for my local autox club.
And a question tiltmode. If I decide to switch to high spring rates in the future, will those springs be available through you?

No worries I knew it would be close. But my fingers are crossed for sure for delivery on the near side of that time frame.
Rigoherrera 02-28-2012, 12:24 AM Delivery is surprisingly fast, maybe u will get them in time man
mavictb 02-28-2012, 06:26 AM either way im not ganna cry about it haha it would just be nice to hit those California coast twisties with some new suspension. I live close enough to so-cal that its likely they will make it in time for me to install them and leave for my trip on the 18th*. im just all pumped up lol. if they dont make it (god forbid) I may cut my trip short just to get these on my car and hit this (http://www.opentracking.com/virginia_city_hc.htm)up... not the actual event but that road and downhill due to my lack of high power lol... I work 5 min away from that road.
mavictb 02-28-2012, 06:28 AM this is the actual event http://www.spectre341challenge.com/. love living so close to that strip of beautiful road lol
tiltmode43 02-28-2012, 06:08 PM Another one in, down to the last couple of sets!
Based on the cars ordering, I really can't wait to see the Powertrix Photo thread, there are some customers with awesome cars yet again :icon_tup:
BSchwemer 02-28-2012, 06:35 PM Shit, Hopefully there is a set left in 3 days...
godesshunter 02-28-2012, 06:54 PM I really can't wait to see the Powertrix Photo thread
That thread is gunna be blowin' next month!
tiltmode43 02-28-2012, 07:24 PM Yup!
BSchwemer - Shot you a PM :icon_tup:
BSchwemer 02-28-2012, 07:29 PM Replied to said PM.

Check OP
godesshunter 02-28-2012, 08:02 PM Woah! 20 spots now. I thought I was getting something exclusive. :suspect:By the time you're done, everyone's gunna have these. :)
tiltmode43 02-28-2012, 08:19 PM We lucked out with some extras coming over - guaranteed 15 spots but got confirmation on the 20 just the other day :icon_tup:
In the grand scheme of things, they are still pretty exclusive. That said, high quality, reasonably priced products have their own ways of becoming the go-to choice in any market ;)
godesshunter 02-28-2012, 08:32 PM Do the initial setup adjustments video on the powertrix website apply to the rx8 as well? He is doing the install in a Z there.
tiltmode43 02-29-2012, 01:20 AM I haven't seen the video, but I imagine the same basic concepts should apply.
I'll see if I can make a basic write-up on how to do an initial setup on the coilovers for regular use, that's an excellent idea!
Arca_ex 02-29-2012, 01:44 AM The way I did initial setup was to thread the height adjustment on 25 full turns (1 turn = 360 degrees) on the front and rear, and then tighten the spring preload perch by hand so that it's snug, try to get them all about the same tension, just do it by feel.
You're going to need to take measurements and adjust at least one more time so as long as they're all the same for the initial setup you should be fine. Just make sure you thread the height adjustment in at LEAST 20 turns.
godesshunter 02-29-2012, 06:09 AM Ok. Thats good to know. For the Z He says to start at 15 turns.
tiltmode43 02-29-2012, 11:34 PM One more spot opened, so we've got a total of two spots open at the moment!
Aaron pretty much nailed it :icon_tup:
There are a few things here and there that can be done slightly differently, such as measuring pre-load, but this is exactly the way you'll want to start out!

tiltmode43 03-01-2012, 08:18 PM OP Updated!
BSchwemer 03-02-2012, 06:02 PM Done.
Now... to figure out tires for my new wheels :P
Can't wait for a fresh new stance.
tiltmode43 03-02-2012, 07:38 PM Updated OP!
Just in time too! What tires were you considering?
The last set is currently payment pending - for those of you who were interested, feel free to watch this thread for updates :icon_tup:
The next shipment will most likely be in the next 1-1.5 months - this time we are striving to order enough to keep them in stock. As always, the Pre-Order Group Buy pricing will still be offered on the full quantity ordered this next time. So if you are on the fence but have some time to spare, sit tight for Round 3!
godesshunter 03-02-2012, 08:37 PM Horay!. When will these be sent out?
BSchwemer 03-03-2012, 02:37 AM Updated OP!
Just in time too! What tires were you considering?
265/35/18 RS3's of course.
Although, I've been running 275/40/17 Federal SS595's lately on my old wheels, and I like them much better in the rain! Too bad I can't predict the Hawaii weather nor have the 17's clear big brakes! :banghead:
TopGear8 03-03-2012, 11:33 AM ^Brad, I have a used set for sale that's still got 6/32nds left. If you ever make it back to Charlotte you can have them.

tiltmode43 03-05-2012, 04:49 PM Just received payment on the last set, this Group Buy is officially SOLD OUT!

Me! Lol just hoping they get here before the 17th so I will have time to install em before a big road trip. If not I will have something to look forward to when I get home haha.
tiltmode43 03-05-2012, 09:15 PM And now is when the view count for this thread will really shoot up, from people checking back for updates!
Anyone who posts a picture of their car after the coilovers are installed in this thread (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=223725) will have my sincere thanks <3
Once again, congratulations to those of you who made it in this GB, the next few weeks are going to be rather fun :Peace:

I will do a bone stock to dropped comparison on my WB. With the stock wheels too so people can get a good idea of what these do.
tiltmode43 03-05-2012, 09:26 PM It's always nice to have a range of styles, drops, etc. Everyone does things differently so be it a stock RX8 with a mild drop or a weekend warrior with carbon panels, I'd love to see it all (including everything in-between).
No submission is any less valuable, in my eyes.
mavictb 03-08-2012, 05:13 PM What method are these shipped and will we receive a tracking number?

Tracking will be provided for ALL shipments.
Emails go to the paypal account email address. My guess is the email address would be coming out from cpark(at)powertrix.com. No mass emails have been sent out yet, and if they were, it looks like not everyone was CC'd on them (including myself).
I'm going to see if I can get any updates for you guys today :)

tiltmode43 03-20-2012, 01:03 PM Saw this on FB.
Looks like PT had an issue with emailing the tracking. Generally when shipping bulk, the email addresses are attached to the order with the shipping carrier. I suppose there could have been some sort of mixup there. In either case, these will be landing for all of you very soon it seems. If anyone has any questions, feel free to message!

MS Addict 03-22-2012, 09:39 PM I've never seen any coilovers sell like these. Hotcakes indeed, haha.
Then again, everyone who's been purchasing is vouching for, and recommending them like crazy.
Definitely getting out there.
ShellDude 03-22-2012, 09:45 PM I've got the rear ride extenders routed into the trunk and am going to play with my height this weekend.
My only regret is having to wait all through Winter to install them. KDR did the install for me while they had the 8 in for some other, unmentionable, work.
tiltmode43 03-23-2012, 03:06 AM Tomorrow I've got a meeting set up with Charles from Powertrix. I'm going to be bringing up a few topics, such as creating videos for the SE3P platform, such as the Z32 videos.
As always, if anyone has any recommendations to make the PT coilovers a better product, never hesitate to drop me a PM!

Nice!
I nearly went that direction. Started in post prod, went to production team itself, then went another direction altogether. Thanks for the offer!

Crazy.8 03-23-2012, 10:16 PM damn i really want these now but the $ is pushing it.
mavictb 03-23-2012, 11:00 PM just a question I want to ask publicly...
are the spacers required for the front struts when using stock strut brace?
mavictb 03-23-2012, 11:01 PM P.S.
these things look great! if they perform half as good as they look they are more than worth the money.
Rigoherrera 03-24-2012, 01:20 AM just a question I want to ask publicly...
are the spacers required for the front struts when using stock strut brace?
yes they are, ur strut bar wont fit without them, unless u put a little bit of work into it
godesshunter 03-24-2012, 06:08 AM The way I did initial setup was to thread the height adjustment on 25 full turns (1 turn = 360 degrees) on the front and rear, and then tighten the spring preload perch by hand so that it's snug, try to get them all about the same tension, just do it by feel.
You're going to need to take measurements and adjust at least one more time so as long as they're all the same for the initial setup you should be fine. Just make sure you thread the height adjustment in at LEAST 20 turns.
Put mine in last night. They look so sexy. Installation was a PITA compared to other cars struts but worth it totally in the end. Pics to come this afternoon.
I started with 25 turns as instructed but that left the rear way too high. Something like almost an inch higher than front.
Ended up with 25 front and 35 rear when I was done.
Crazy.8 03-24-2012, 11:43 AM would i need spacers to run these with stock wheels?

tiltmode43 03-25-2012, 05:56 PM Crazy.8 - No wheel spacers are required to install these coilovers.
Looks like it will be sooner - shooting for production to start early april having these landing late May.
So if all goes well, next GB would be in a few weeks. We'll see! Form this next batch we'll be creating an RX8 specific instructional video to help with adjustments and installation.
Thank you all for the PM's. Many of you have been very helpful - no single word/suggestion goes unnoticed!
Thanks,
Matt
Cvzrx8 03-25-2012, 08:23 PM Just installed the front so running on all 4! n i have to say i love them! they are surprisingly comfortable they dont feel overly stiff and bumpy the dampening is amazing a whole lot better than the megan racing coilovers on my s13 thanks tilt! im really glad i jumped on the group buy :) will post pics once i wash my car XD and then again later in the year when i get my wheels put on!
bryan4140 03-25-2012, 10:01 PM Hey tilt or anyone else who has already installed your coils, the bracket for the rear strut/ shock that has two bolts going in to it is not reused correct? I'm pretty sure you dont reuse because it doesn't really fi and I read something about it a bit ago, t but i just want to make sure. Anyways got them on tonight and the ride was awesome! not overly bumpy but so much less body roll. Will post up pics on tuesday of a befor and after.

I didn't want to be the first to mention about them but you are right the fitment was a little off. I was able to use a hammer to "tweak" the stamped metal bracket a bit and install it.
I wouldn't recommend running without it if possible I assume it has something to do with lateral "g" support. The three hole mounting base may not be strong enough to support everything under extreme load.
Arca_ex 03-26-2012, 12:24 AM You guys do know that the four bolts on top of the rear shock bodies loosen up so that bracket moves and you can line it up perfectly and then tighten them down and then install the bracket...
godesshunter, the fitment is pretty much spot on, I think you're just a tad too quick to go grab the big fuckin hammer and pry bars to try and bully the parts into the car...
willnordacgreen1211 03-26-2012, 04:00 AM yea those brackets are def reused. i got mine to fit no problem

Hey c'mon now I'm not a total ogre. I can be very finessefully accurate when it comes to a hammer. If my hole alignment was off more than a mm or two I would have looked closer into it. But no harm was done and everything went smoothly.
jjc3925 03-26-2012, 10:50 AM any tips on spraying something on these to keep them from seizing and rusting. i dont care if i have to spray every 3 months or so.

I know I can definatly make it work, I just wasn't sure as I read in some DIY that they were not re used on some aftermarket coilover set ups so I though I''d ask. The bracket doesn't fit perfectly, but its not a problem because like you said if all the bolts are on it will bend a little bit to match up correctly.

Its possible that a cheap coilover set my not have the mount in place on top to bolt to. :dunno:
tiltmode43 03-27-2012, 11:25 AM Many lesser expensive coilovers do not have the top mount portion, this is correct.
For anyone having issues, care to PM me photos? I assisted in 4 installs last time around and there were no serious alignment issues - no bending or anything of that nature required, that's for sure. The *only* thing I can think of is to make sure the brackets were not installed on the wrong sides from the factory (this happens every now and then with Stance). Checking to make sure brackets are all installed properly is just another step that will need to be added to the QC process.
Any driving impressions now that these have been installed on many cars?
jjc3925 03-27-2012, 01:52 PM I absolutely love the feel of mine. Only issue right now is I have vibration coming from one of the rears in the trunk. But i have to remove both again anyway to lift the rear another half inch, so I will check then.
emoximuu 03-27-2012, 01:58 PM I'm still waiting on mine...sometimes Hawaii sucks...sometimes =P
tiltmode43 03-27-2012, 02:25 PM As a reminder & general rule of thumb - double check to make sure everything is tight after driving. The rear inner collar is especially hard to reach and if it comes lose, you might hear a noise coming from there.
edit: Meant to say inner collar on the *rears* is difficult to reach, so should be double checked after some driving.
bryan4140 03-27-2012, 08:03 PM The ride is awesome, not much harsher than stock and almost no body roll. I'm extremly impressed with them.
godesshunter 03-27-2012, 08:37 PM :suspect:...Is there a break-in period for the springs?
tiltmode43 03-27-2012, 08:46 PM On springs? Never heard of anything of the sort.
Some suggest keeping dampers on soft for the first 50-100 miles but this isn't something really required, and may be a bit of myth. I don't know of any objective info on the subject, so really think it's a null point.

I too am in Hawaii, but I got mine the other day. Check with the post office?
jjc3925 03-28-2012, 08:58 AM Hey Tilt....which is the correct way to change damper settings, all the way to soft then work your way to stiff, or all the way stiff and work downward?
Ive seen certain coilovers go either way.
I also lifted the rears a bit, and tightened everything, no more rattle :-)
Renesis 8 03-28-2012, 09:07 AM Can't wait for the next group buy. I want these right meow!

I too have heard both sides. Ive built quite a few off-road suspension trucks and have had springs "settle" after a week or so. I have decided to stay in full soft dampening and plan to for the rest of the week. On Saturday (7 day mark) I will realign the car and mess with dampening.
tiltmode43 03-28-2012, 07:45 PM Oh! Springs do settle a bit, so I suppose that time could be considered a 'break-in' period.
Ibanezrg31 03-29-2012, 02:53 PM Hey guys, anyone free this weekend to give me a hand installing these coilovers? i am in south bay socal are but am willing to drive for some help. Thanks!!

I recall reading in the Powertrix Howtos that you should always start soft and click your way stiff.

godesshunter 04-13-2012, 11:42 PM Hey tilt, How can I get a powertrix sticker?
Piroxide 04-14-2012, 10:56 AM 10k/7k Coils installed. Shims/washers for the fronts worked just fine to clear the stock tower bar. Not a chance in hell to get the upper supporting brackets for the rears installed without binding everything else in the rear. Don't know why, but there is no chance to make them fit on my car. I'll post pics to show just how far off they are. I'd say 4mm from touching the body towards the front of the car and 2mm on the rear. Ill post pics in a bit. Dampers set at 12 and it's still soft to me. (but very streetable!) http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/1615/curbsidedallas.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/853/curbsidedallas.jpg/)

Piroxide 04-14-2012, 12:44 PM Here is what I mean.
http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/7312/coil4.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/842/coil4.jpg/)
Loosening the RED Arrowed bolts allows the top bracket to rotate about 10 degrees on the GREEN arrow lines to line up with the brackets.
Even so, the BLUE arrows show the best clearance I was able to get.
(Those numbers being much lower than what the spacing is on the drivers side.)
The YELLOW arrow is showing the distance that the bracket sticks out from the coil.
Perhaps I'm unlucky but the coil+bracket sticks inside the car just too far to install the stock braces on the drivers side.
Spent about 30 mins in the driveway after cutting a 6mm hex key with a grinder to reach the rear bolts to loosen them enough to turn the bracket to no avail.
Thinking if I get a rear adjustable tower bar I might be able to get them in properly.
Anyone chime in on similar issues or corrective actions? I'm thinking of using flat washers to space out the stock bracket on the body studs possibly with rubber grommets. Thanks!

first I want to start by saying your car looks amazing.
the only thing i can recommend trying is totally loosen the 3 bolts (two on top, one on bottom) that attach the strut to the tower. make sure they are really lose then drop the car off the jack and maybe even drive around the block slowly. when you come back tighten the two on top with torque, lift the car and tighten the bottom.set it down again and reattempt the lateral braces.

I HAD THE SAME PROB BUT, I GOT THAT TO MOVE WITH A HAMMER AND A CHISLE.:ylsuper:
godesshunter 04-14-2012, 06:29 PM I too had similar problems. But like RMXG8 said, I was able to get it to fit with a hammer. My post is up a little further on this list about it. I was immediately flamed by a few people about it though so I dropped the subject. Like I know nothing about working on cars. There have been a couple posts about it already and I figured it was only a matter of time before more people chimed in. Im not the only one. From what I remember, it was more of a problem on the right rear more so than the left.
No doubt its a design flaw, but Its small enough to deal with and was easy enough to handle on my own. So I didn't make a huge deal about it.
Piroxide 04-15-2012, 08:07 PM Im thinking the easiest fix would be new top adapters that sit closer to the shock body. Id shave down the face of the ones that came with them but they aren't thick enough to have any material/threads left. Might take them off, have them cut and rewelded shorter, or have new ones made. Not a fan of adding lateral pressure against the shock bodies by just torquing them in. Maybe the next run will have the issue resolved (depending on if this effects everyone) and we can get a hookup by sending in the old plates? Depends on how many ppl have the issue over all.
willnordacgreen1211 04-16-2012, 04:09 PM im starting to think i may not have gotten the 10k.7k springs on my coils. been driving around on them for a while now with the damening set to 12 and it feels way too soft. had to raise the car up to keep from rubbing on every little bump and i was never that low to begin with. its almost 5 full inches of travel and its worse at low speeds. anyone elses feel too soft? i know if some of you guys with really agressive wheels had even half of the suspension travel mine has your cars wouldnt even be drivable.... taking them out tomorrow and thightening everything back up again for good measure to see what that will do..
edit: ment to put thisin the powertrix owners thread. but ill leave this here anyway
Piroxide 04-16-2012, 11:23 PM Agreed, the 10k/7k does seem soft. Dampers set at 12 as well. I wore out out the fender liners in the first 500 miles in the rear.
