So there is a DIY for the Borla Heatshield without pictures. I figured I would make one for the factory setup.

Background: On an unrelated visit, dealership had told me a month ago that my heatshield was super rusty and probably wouldn't last long. Then recently annoying rattle between certain rpms.

Took a peak under my car and discovered this.

My heatshield is only being held on by the oxygen sensor going to the cat.

Things you will need for this DIY.

$4 in hose clamps
Flat Headscrewdriver
15mins
Jack and Stands

Jack your car up on the passenger side and place backup stands underneath as well. (Never can be too careful)

Loosen hoseclamp so that you can wrap it around the whole shield without needing to take exhaust apart. The easiest spot for a small hoseclamp is the end of the shield toward the exhaust.

Use Screwdriver to tighten hose clamp.

Shake to make sure that it is tight enough. Use another hoseclamp as necessary. (I used my second to tighten down the shield on the header which was also loose and rusting.)

Take your car for a spin see if that fixes the annoying rattle sounds. Pat yourself on back and take the extra $100 you probably saved yourself and buy your car something nice.
