Thanks though cgrx 02-29-2004, 10:19 PM Red ? I'm not sure what would look good with the green.. TheDosDog 02-29-2004, 10:45 PM Mine are green kratley 02-29-2004, 11:00 PM Green is a difficult color. I would try silver, chrome, or gunmetal (although it's not as eye-catching). You should put in a photoshop request for a nordic green 8 with chrome wheels and varying caliper colors. That should make the decision easier. Hope that helps. Kenneth Cobalt_RX 02-29-2004, 11:06 PM How do I go about putting a request in to photoshop? I've got a few ideas I'd like to check out. Thanks PoLaK 02-29-2004, 11:18 PM I would think a Sliver would go best with a black "Rx-8" done into the paint. Check out my stencils at www.polakgraphics.com/caliperstencils.html And this thread: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20636 Ike 03-01-2004, 01:04 AM I think if you go with anything other than black, silver, gunmetal, or maybe gold (this one is iffy) it's going to look garish. However, I think chrome wheels are garish and don't belong on sportscars so we obviously have very different taste... Nice work with the graphics Polak, they look good. AutoBahnRX8 03-01-2004, 01:06 AM I think bronze, like the Brembos might work. AutoBahnRX8 03-01-2004, 01:06 AM Actually, Bronze Volks would look sweet on the Nordic :D Mikelikes2drive 03-01-2004, 02:37 AM why not just get real brembos? I agree with Ike on this one, chrome rims are tacky. Painted calipers, tacky as well. Sorry but thats just my opinion. Get the real deal Elara 03-01-2004, 07:36 AM Originally posted by Cobalt_RX I have a nordic green 8 and am thinking about painting the calipers. I want to get some chrome rims soon, any ideas on a color for the calipers? I'm seriously considering painting my calipers dark purple. It think it would look really nice on the green. And unlike some, I think the chrome rims are gorgeous on the car. If I ever have money again, I'm looking into getting a set. AutoBahnRX8 03-01-2004, 07:40 AM Wow, purple? Definitely get someone to photoshop that before you do something drastic! Sue Esponte 03-01-2004, 09:03 AM I'd go black or, if you can find a good match, green. Hey, you can always try yellow. Might be cool... -Eric j1mb0x99 03-01-2004, 09:52 AM When I get a chance I'm gonna do black w/ silver "RX-8." Pretty much what Polak stated only inverted. -JiM Shooter 03-01-2004, 10:08 AM Im going with silver on my calipers.....Same color as I painted my rotors. willhave8 03-01-2004, 10:34 AM Originally posted by j1mb0x99 When I get a chance I'm gonna do black w/ silver "RX-8." Pretty much what Polak stated only inverted. -JiM I've got all the materials to do exactly that on my Titanium 8. PoLak delivered the stencils via USPS in less than 36 hours. Now I've got to find the time to do the job. Will post pictures when I'm done but it may be a few weeks. Craig kratley 03-01-2004, 02:34 PM Cobalt, Check out this thread: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=313&highlight=photoshop This thread is probably more in line with what you want: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18516&highlight=calipers The first thread is a bunch of crazy photoshops, they are funny so you should check them out. Post a picture of a green RX8 and ask someone to change the caliper colors to the ones you want. You don't necessarily have to post your own picture of a green 8, but it's just curteous so that whoever does the photoshop for you doesn't have to search for one. I thought of gold calipers also, but it seems a little far out there. However, I think the right hue and saturation of gold could be what you're looking for. I'm not very experienced with photo-editing but I may give it a shot for you later if I have time. Kenneth kratley 03-01-2004, 03:37 PM OK Cobalt, this is the best I could do. It should give you an idea of what someone who is good with photoshop could do. I tried the other colors (purple included) but I was no good with them. It's a pic of Elara's RX-8 so I hope she doesn't mind. kratley 03-01-2004, 03:38 PM Gold, I think a darker gold would be better, but I had trouble with the darker colors. EDIT:: I forgot you wanted chrome wheels so if you can find a high definition picture of a nordic green 8 with chrome wheels, that would help make a much better photoshop. Cobalt_RX 03-01-2004, 04:58 PM Those turned out pretty good. I'll search for a high def picture of a Nordic 8 with chrome, probably not going to be easy to find but I'll try. Thanks Sue Esponte 03-02-2004, 03:58 PM See, I told you yellow might be nice. :D -Eric Cobalt_RX 03-03-2004, 08:31 AM I bought some red engine paint. I think I"m going to apply it by brush, like I read in a diff forum. That way looks a lot easier. I also bought some NXT so I'll start working on that. kratley 03-03-2004, 09:43 AM Cobalt, I don't know if you read this in one of the other threads, but's it's also a good idea to paint the area where the rust gathers near the rotors. I plan to do all of this next week when I go home for spring break. My 8 is silver so I'm going to paint the rusted area and my calipers silver or black. Most likely, I'll pain the rusted area silver, the calipers black, and then stencil the RX-8 logo onto the calipers and maybe even on the rusted part in silver and black respectively. I haven't decided yet, but I think it's a good idea. Anyway, good luck. -Kenneth kratley 03-03-2004, 09:47 AM This is the thread by the way. http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17529&highlight=rust Dookie_Rx-8 03-04-2004, 12:35 AM Originally posted by PoLaK I would think a Sliver would go best with a black "Rx-8" done into the paint. s=&threadid=20636[/url] your just trying to sell your stencils, lol PoLaK 03-04-2004, 02:18 PM well assuming i pay for advertisement i have a right to "try and sell them" kratley 03-08-2004, 10:23 PM I'm thinking about painting my calipers carolina blue (country blue), but I can't find that color or anything close online or in local stores. I also want to stencil a black rx-8 logo on from polak. Does anybody know where I can find this color in high-temp paint. If I can't find that color in high-temp paint, does anybody know if using the normal paint and then putting a few coats of high-temp clear coat over it would be effective? Thanks PoLaK 03-08-2004, 10:38 PM I found that caliper paint is quite limited in color kind of blue, red, yellow, silver making up the majority. All that 900 degree F is bullshit all you need is 500 and barely that. The only time your calipers come close to anything above 300 F is when you take the car auto-xing otherwise calipers are safe to the touch as soon as you get out the door of the car. (If your going to try this touch the caliper not the rotor, don't be dumb) Anyway back to color there is many more choices for 500 degree F safe paints. Check out Plasti-Color's/ Dupli-Colors High Temp Engine paint. That will suit the calipers just fine. Most Pep-Boys have both. Thanks What color is your car? Mine is Sunlight Silver and I'm thinking of doing the calipers in an electric smurf blue if I can find the right color. Speaking of photoshop requests . . . kratley 03-08-2004, 11:54 PM Mine is sunlight silver also, and I think a bright/matalic blue would look wonderful and original. The plastikote and duplicolor Polak mentioned have pontiac blue, pontiac metallic blue, and chrysler blue, all of which I'm considering. I tried photo editing all three of those colors along with other blue colors but none of them turned out well. According to the local weather forecast there's going to be precipitaction (rain or snow) for the next two days with fair weather afterwards. I'm going to try to do mine sometime between thursday and saturday, so I'll post some pics if I like the outcome. With photoshop all of the colors came out too dull so I'm hoping the colors will be better in person. -Kenneth RodsterinFL 03-15-2004, 03:23 PM I think the gold/bronze would look good. It was suggested to me owning a winning blue to get gold. I got the high temp gold and it was really bright (tacky looking) but then someone else on here suggested that I use another product on the paint which turned it into a fantastic bronzy gold. I think that would look good on just about any color of RX-8 except for maybe silver where red would look more attractive. kratley 03-15-2004, 07:24 PM I painted my calipers and rotors blue this past week. If anyone would like to see them just say so and I'll post them. My 8 is silver by the way. -Kenneth |
