How do I put up a clever avatar like everyone else?

You have to have a certain minimum number of posts before you can set a personal avatar. (I think it's 100 posts). Once you hit that point, the option becomes available in your User Control Panel.

Just don't post-whore like I am at the moment.

I thought someone said you only had to have 20 posts?

Actually, I just found that you only need 10 posts to be able to ad an avatar to your username area. Check it out:
