Ferrari beating performance! if you saw that issue of Car and Driver with the test between the gt, 360 Stradale, and GT3......wow! what they said about the GT being SOOOOO much faster than the 360 Stradale! i knew we americans had it in us....oh and it went like this i believe....

1) Ford GT

2) Ferrari 360 Stradale

3) Porsche 911 GT3

If you knew the GT's history you'd understand why it spanks the 360. Its a cool car. I'd rather have a Noble M12 GTO for that price but its still a cool car.

I am a die-hard Ford fan and am glad to see Ford reproduce such a historic and prestigious car...its a real snake-eater.

i'm a big ford fan, too. and a gt40 fan, so i'm very happy to see its return. production version will actually have 550hp, 50 more than originally stipulated. AWESOME! my only hope left in that car is to see it race, and win

The ferrari needs an eight speed double clutch transaxle, pronto.

The only thing I hold against it is the weight. I guess I hold that against a lot of these supercars. They all seem to get heavier and more powerful. Of course I would not say no if it was given to me, but that is not going to happen.

The Noble M12 was the perfect car to mention in comparison. It weighs less than our RX8 but has a twin turbo ford duratec 3.0l. You can get one imported without the motor in the US for around $55k and then build any duratec motor here to drop in. A very intimate car if you have ever sat in one indeed.

Yup! But something about it is not right.

It has a V8 and its supercharged making 500hp, i think Ford coulda done better to atleast get 550-600hp, my opinion.

They did get 550hp. That is the new rating, and a nice safe number for ford to go with. I wonder who the first tuner to get a hold of it will be.

I know I found this somewhere on the forum, but I can't remember...

I read an article that Ford "underquoted the HP". It got 550-600 whp on a dyno. This is not an uncommon thing to happen, some manufacturers do it on purpose. I will see if I can track it down.

Oh BTW, I would still rather drive a Stradale than a Ford any day. I wouldn't be caught dead in a Ford, no matter what it is!

You haven't seen the Ford GT in person then. It's Old-School classics, that is absolutely great looking. It's going to be a tough choice for those that want an American muscle car spending that 100k+ the Ford GT, Dodge Viper etc etc etc...

I saw it in person, when they were doing the marketing commercials that they used for the Super Bowl. They were fliming it at Gingerman raceway near Grand Rapids, MI. I took some pictures before they could try, and snatch them away from us. We got about 5, then a security dude said "STOP!", he asked us if we took pics, and we said, "nope." I will try and scan these tommorow to put on here, they are really quite good for being "spy shots" by us. You have to remmember that I am only 18, thus I don't care about old American muscle. I only like European cars, with the acception to the 350Z and my RX-8

That is the 360 Ford used to compare the GT when they were developing it. The engineers stuck that on there.

A pretty neat touch, IMO.:)

Thanks for clarifying that, cueball... I saw that photo andknew I had no alternative but to "steal" it for my personal collection. Now, if I can only find a way to keep my 8, and buy either the Ford GT or the Ferrari that has that sticker on it... :D

I worked on the Ford GT and it has unbelievable performance but I would be very careful to buy one. All the engineering groups and suppliers were under some crazy pressure and deadlines during this car's development. I'm sure there are going to be some serious recalls with this car.

Look out for that 850 HP chrysler that might be sold in limited numbers. That car would destroy the G.T. It looks sweet as hell too.

It's nice to see domestic automakers producing European killers now.

...is cut from a different cloth than any other American super-car. It really makes me laugh when people comment that the Ford GT doesn't belong next to Euro-exotics like Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, etc. Do we not remember that of all of the American auto manufacturers, Ford has the most International credibility?

Ford has won the 24 Hours of LeMans, the World Sports Car Championships, Sebring, Daytona, the FIA Formula 1 Word Championship, the FIA World Rally Championship and countless other events and series. The list of Ford-driving champions is a who's-who of International motorsports: Foyt, Gurney, McLaren, Rodriguez, Bianchi, Ickyx, Schumacher, Stewert, Piquet, Andretti, McRae and countless others. In the world of international racing, no other American marque comes close to Ford...and when taken as a whole, no marque has shown a winning tradition spread out over so many different types of racing as Ford has.

I will be the first to admit that I am a Porschephile and a Ferrari fanatic. But I also believe that credit has to be given where it's due. The fact that the Ford GT is the direct decendent of the GT40 gives this car All-Star status to begin with. That it also has the muscle, dynamics and ability to spank a spec-racer like the 360 Stradale enforces that label. Ford, and the Ford GT, have earned the right to sit alongside any of Europe's finest.

Enjoy your ride...
