When you saw your first RX-8 in the flesh?

"Daaaay-ammmn! It's gorgeous."

Then, "I LOVE this color!" (Velocity Red)

Followed by, "Can I take it for a test drive?"

And finally, "What will you give me for that Volvo over there as a trade-in?"

I couldn't think. The butterflies all jumped up and basically left me standing there a drooling idiot. After that my first thought/impulse was to sit in the drivers seat. My heart-rate still increases when I'm about to get in and go drive.

It was one of the press vehicles that was delivered to Toronto Canada that I was going to get a ride in. I was thinking DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNNN as it rolled towards us!
I don't remember what I actually said, as I'd have to check out the video for that! :D

"That's a cool car, but probably to expensive". My real surprise came when I saw the price. This is the coolest, practical, fun, and unique car I have ever owned. Great Package!!!
I ordered mine before I got to see it. When we walked out of the dealership (for the deposit) my wife asked " Did we just buy a car?"

My wife and I were SERIOUSLY considering a Z. We do a TON of car shows and travelling and we want to start a family soon.

The Z was just not practical for us and she was really excited about the 8 I however was not equally impressed by what I had seen on paper and the photos of the car. My buddy Mark "KCRX8" was one of the 1st owners here in KC. He brought the car to one of our car club's local hang outs and I was MESMORIZED.

We took it for a spin and I was hooked. Then I sat in the back seat and I could not belive that a 6' adult could actually fit in the car behind another 6' driver. We had to have this car.

We had finally found a kick ass looking car, WITH a back seat, 4drs, and to top it all off it was FAR less expensive than an equally equipped Z.

Don't get me wrong when I see a Z I still find myself asking if I made the right choice, power, looks etc.

When we first laid eyes on OUR car I couldn't believe how tight it looked in Titanium having not seen an actual car in the color we ordered. All I could say was HOLY SHIT!

I had been following the RX8 for such a long time, that when I finally saw it, all I could think is "This is really it". This was followed by a warming sensation that is hard to explain (no I didn't piss my self :p).

On the inside I was melting and oozing from the joy of just looking at the car, and knowing that soon enough it would be mine. On the outside I showed no emotion to the car, so I could get the best offer possible (this is one of the keys to my ability to get such a good deal) I lied and it hurt me but I told the dealer, I rather get a g35 and probably would, and I was only here to see if I could get an extra good deal.... but like I said.. on the inside it was better than sex.

My heart swelled to thrice it's normal size.

Then I told the salesman - "I'm just looking - can I sit in it?"

then- I LOVE this car - but I can't afford it

Then- "OK I'll let you run some numbers but I'm not buying a new car for another year"

Then- as I'm driving it home- I can't believe it, I can't believe it , I can't believe it , I'm so happy , I'm so happy , I'm so happy!

Didn't know what it was (saw the rear 1/4 and door from the road at about midnight months ago) I was like WTF is that... so I had to look :) it was about 30 degrees and I was out there gawking for close to half an hour. eating 2 chalupas and 4 tacos. Accidentaly spilt pop all over the passengers window/door cause the lid wasn't on tight(lazy SOB's at taco bell!) said "oh sh!t time to go.... f**kin nice car though...

I was interested in the car since the RX-Evolv days. (although I hated that front end)

So when I saw it in the flesh I was like, Ok. This is it.

Not too great a reaction.

The bigger positive reaction came when I actually drove it. Then I was like

THIS IS WHAT IT"S ALL ABOUT!

I'm hungry. I wonder how quickly I can get out of here..

6 hours later.

I'm starving, I wonder if the salesguy's arm will taste good (after eating 6 bags of chips and 4 sodas that I had the dealership pay for)

I saw it, and thought "WOH!" I sat in it, and thought "WOH!" I drove it, and thought "WOW!!!!!!!!" It brought back all the memories of my previous two RX-7s. Nothin like a rotary. :D

But, I carefully compared it to several other cars, the two finalists being the 350Z and the G35 coupe. The '8 won out for both passion and practicality. Never looked back since.

My thought... Finally, after 22 years a chance to buy a rotary again. Hey it looks good.... I wonder how it performs....

Wow it looks really good.... It is a rotary... I wonder if is feels like my first gen...

From there it took me 4 months to buy it and at almost one month of ownership, I can't believe I waited 22 years to buy another rotary.

There is my car. :D
When my 8 was delivered to me, it was the first, (and still is) the only one in my little town. I drove around town the rest of the afternoon, with the biggest shit-eatin'-grin... :D taking in all the stares, and the pointing, and the questions everywhere I stopped.
I've had it since October.
I still do this.
I love this car!

"That's my car!"

I had placed an order on a Winning Blue RX-8 back in January last year, so when I finally saw the Winning Blue pre-production car at the Houston Rev-It-Up event in April, it was a wonderful confirmation of my decision.

Like some others, I too was going to buy a 350Z.
I happen to drive by the Mazda Dealership at lunch one day and they had an RX-8 parked out front.
That weekend I drove to the Dealership and walked into the showroom to get a good look at one and my heart just stopped.
I knew at that moment that owning an RX-8 would be my next mission in life.

One of the best moments of my life was when I drove MY RX-8 off the lot 4 months later. ( I had to order mine to get it the way I wanted )

First thought?

"Hmmmmm...that's a funky looking car but let me take a closer look"

Have you taken a look at the new Crossfire? I saw one today and thought the same thing. They do resemble each other if you squint your eyes a bit.

When I first saw the RX-8, I thought that it looked like sportscars of yesterday transported to 2004.

I first saw MINE yesterday after it came off the truck. I've been waiting 2 or 3 months, so I'm pretty used to sucking it up and just waiting for this day. That made it hard to get really freaked out when I saw it, but already, without even sitting in it yet, I can't stop grinning, and drove over again today just to look and take a couple more pics (it is still in the prep lot).

Now, I'm so anxious to take it home, I'm hanging out here on the forum just to give me enough fix to wait till Monday. I even thought about camping out next to the "baby" to keep it company overnight. Yeah, nuts.

Dang, what are they putting in the cars to have that effect? Some mysterious molecule called zoom-zoom...
