View Full Version : Sound System for 8
Renesis08 01-21-2003, 12:49 AM I just wanted to know for the car audiophiles, what would the best manufactuer for aftermarket speakers be for the 8.
I am getting the Sports Package because I don't want the moonroof but would like the Bose system. Since Im saving $1700 what would be equivalent or better than the Premium Bose System.
I am willing to put $600 and below for a nice system.
Hercules 01-21-2003, 02:05 AM I'm a big fan of Infinity components... but that's me :)
b2k2000 01-22-2003, 04:14 PM It really depends on what speakers you like the sound of the best, I personally like the Titanium tweeters, some like soft dome sounds better. I would go listen to several types of speakers and choose what you like better soundwise. As far as the 9" door speakers, I am not sure who makes a 9" speaker, maybe Boston Acoustic?
P00Man 01-31-2003, 10:37 PM i think uhhhhhhh.......what are they called
audiobahn and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh blaupunkt make a 9er
i THINK
Sputnik 02-01-2003, 01:06 PM I despise Infinity components, personally.
But that brings up the point that it's a personal thing. It depends on the kind of system that you're looking for, what you listen to in the car, and how you perceive it. Listen to the different models available in your range. Avail the services of audio shops, Circuit City, Best Buy, etc., and listen to what's in there.
And once you do seriously look into it, you'll come to realize that it will be very difficult to upgrade a BOSE system with a mere $600. Mostly because it is normally very difficult to just replace one item like speakers in the BOSE system, and make it work well.

Thanks for the info. :D :D :D
Sputnik 02-02-2003, 10:59 AM Ya know, there will be a handful of people who will be taking out their BOSE system. Depending on how they remove it, you should be able to pick up the parts for the premium BOSE system cheap.

The Audi TT has had BOSE for some time and the view of owners (including myself) is that it is one of the best factory fitted units available. BOSE would not be my choice for a house unit but superb for the car, especially if specifically programmed as it has been for the TT and RX8. Some owners have upgraded the radio to get more out of the BOSE speaker set up but otherwise there is very little that can be done without major bucks outlay.

velociti 02-11-2003, 07:01 AM Dynaudio makes the best speakers on the market today, at least for home audio. They make a whole line of car audio speakers as well, and I assume that they are as highly regarded as their home audio speakers. Check out the reviews. Their top of the line floor standing speakers run for around $85,000, the Evidence, so they definately know they're stuff.
Check out the literature on their site.

Renesis08 02-11-2003, 07:01 PM I've heard of DIAMOND speakers and how crisp and clear they are. Can anyone here comment on those? Thanks!
Quick_lude 02-11-2003, 11:57 PM I have a set of CDT Audio Cambria series components in my car.. awesome speakers imo. And this is the "low end" model of their line..
