Get it before it gone. Did you read this thread? http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=162263 Teh AP so far to date is the best way to tune. Far superior to any piggy back system. Flashwing 07-14-2010, 10:12 PM so im thinking of getting a new access port before they stop selling them. i just don't know what the mazdamaniac does exactly and is it worth the 100 extra dollars? If you check out www.mazdamaniac.com and click the RX8 all the information you requested is there. Phantom RX 07-14-2010, 10:27 PM Yes get it while the gettin is good. As for what Maniac does, I dont know exactly but basically he makes the program that the access port uses to changes the ECU programing. Flashwing 07-14-2010, 10:42 PM Yes get it while the gettin is good. COBB makes the software. Jedi54 07-14-2010, 10:45 PM Anyone who doesn't bother to search for this will never read the instruction thread, let alone the instruction instructions thread. Accessport is a tuning device for you're ecu. Mazdamaniac offers a TUNE for the accessport. Hardware is to accessport Software is to programing. The reason you're paying $100 extra is to have a tune done by someone who has dyno proven results with an overwhelming majority of RX8 accessport users happy with the tune WHILE increasing the reliability of the engine by injecting more oil and kicking on the fans earlier. how do I know this? Buddy of mine has the MM tune on his RX8 and it makes a big difference in everything. RodrigoSoares 08-02-2010, 08:30 AM Hi, Once there is a topic with the name 'MazdaManiac', I will post something here: (My intent is to express my feelings and not to offend anyone) Some history first: Long, long time ago, in October 09, I purchased an AP from Mazdamaniac. It toke more then a month to get it, despite the 10 business days advertised in the web site. I bought it from Mazdamaniac because I have a EUDM 8 and I live in Portugal (pretty shitty place to have an 8). I also bought it from Mazdamaniac because the guys from COBB told me he makes custom maps for the EUDM 8 and because he offered the so called Calibration Service. Enough history. I also bought a turbo kit, exhaust, clutch kit, pulley kit, ignition amplifier, bigger injectors, fuel pump, electronics, the all thing! Unfortunately this toke me longer than 6 months to get it done (6 months it's the duration of the free Calibration Service). Several set backs and other stuff... I only finish the mods in the last May. Because of the 6 months Free Calibration Service expired, and because the Greddy turbo kit had an E-Manage unit, I decided to tune it with the E-Manage. I ask around, I posted around, I was advised to forget the E-Manage and use the AP, especially having one. In the 28th June, I submitted my 11 Deadly Questions to Mazdamanic Calibration Service. I received the email confirmation on the 2nd July. Keep in mind that my free Calibration Service as expired and that I never used it. The main reason for doing so was that my 8 do not run idle. Too much fuel says the AP. Also, to tune it with the E-Manage I need to get a thing called Greddy RPM Signal Adapter #3 (specially designed for the RX8). I did my math and the maps from MM take 10 business days to get done and to get the Greddy Part it takes 3 weeks. Have you guys get the MM map for the AP? No? Me neither!!! I send 3 or 4 emails to MM, I also said I would pay extra for the map, I said the 8 do not run idle, I said that I need to take it out of the shop, I said... To sum up, no response, no map, no ride... I really hope that Jeff reads this message and please say something to me. Sorry to use the forum for a personal outflow but you can't imagine my deep sadness in not having my 8 running... I apologize... Sorry to use the forum for a personal outflow but you can't imagine my deep sadness in not having my 8 running... I apologize... Rodrigo Soares Unfortunately you cannot blame MM. He was obligated to help you for 6 months and that time passed. Say you buy a pie from the supermarket with a 1 week expiration date and let it sit in the fridge for a month. You cant just go ask them for a new pie just because you never bothered to eat it. RIWWP 08-02-2010, 09:41 AM It sounds like you spent $100 on something you knew you couldn't use. :dunno: You can get the calibration service still, it will just cost you more than it did when purchased with the AP. I am not trying to bash you, but this is the exact reason why I requested a postponement of the start of my calibration service. Changing the dynamics of the engine/breathing, etc... during the calibration service period is just wasting the money you spent on the calibration. In my case, I will likely have a new motor and several mods within a few months, so it didn't make sense to purchase the calibration service. I was going to forgo it, until MM offered to delay the start until the end of the year, which would work perfect for me. That said, it took several iterations just to get you to conform to the instructions. Fearing that there was a language barrier (which, from your post here, I suspect that there isn't one), I even sent my responses in my best Portuguese (which I'm sure was amusing, but I try). At the shop, they connected the computer (Mazda original software) to the car to solve DSC error (lost traction control). Probably it replaced the MM map installed. But I uninstalled it, re-installed it and still does the same. disconnected the battery for a few moments, re-install the COBB and the MM map and still the same behavior... Don't know what to do.
