has anyone used these? did you like them?

I used the previous generation of these and they were great back in '07. They worked great on track or street, just a bit of noise and of course dust. Now I use the XR2/XR4 combo and it about as perfect a pad as possible to put on an RX-8 for track use, and surprisingly, not bad for the street either. Go for them, you'll love the improvement in braking performance!

Try them out and post your feedback here. In my Miata I ran their GT Sport pads for many years and they held up great for a mixture of HPDEs and street driving. I want to try this new pad myself once I use go through my HP+ set.

Edit: Where are you buying them from? I don't see too may online vendors carrying these.

Just installed mine a couple weeks ago...

Can't remember what the front pad are .... the old style that's not available on the website anymore

just ordered my set from THMotorsports for both front and rear, cant wait to try it out on track, hopefully at mazfest in august =D

so brakepads finally came, after a month and a half. Apparently cobalt made mine to order, dont know if thats usually the case.

Unfortunately im going to seattle for a month so i wont be able to put them on until i get back, hopefully they're worth the wait

I'm still using a set of Cobalt Friction GT-Sports (discontinued). I used them for DD until I had my rotors replaced and now I just swap them on for autocross and track. I've thoroughly enjoyed them all this time.

Really? I never had to wait when purchasing Cobalt pads for my Miata.

^dealers can stock pads...many don't.

So been on the Colbalts for a while now and its been pretty good, definate improvement over my old and worn project mu's, haven't hit up the local track with it yet and probably wont be able to until early next year or so. I also swapped to a set of a brand new centric rotors upfront. At 90k miles i found out my caliper pins have almost completely degreased and was causing uneven wear on my old pads/rotors.

So i have a question for you guys running cobalts, are you using OEM shims? After i installed the pads my car has been doing this consistant clunking sound from one of the wheels, and i cant figure out why. Did a forum search and someone said its the shims making noise. Im using my oem shims plus some ceramic grease if that means anything.

Yes lightly coated w/ceramic grease (purple stuff). And yes the clunking comes and goes, changing clips *may* help a little but seems to always return. I've come to think it's the in-out free play of the pads (push brakes on - pads go against the rotors...noise stops...then release they move away and can rattle back against the rotors over road bumps) on the clips not them being 'loose' in the clips. Bothersome but ah-well ...sigh.... they work so damn nice I can't complain.

I received my CSR pads and they'll get installed next week. I'll let you know if I get any unusual sounds.

My next track event is scheduled for Dec 19 where I'll see how these pads perform.
