I've asked this on a recent thread but haven't gotten any responses that seem to match my problem.

Car seems to have developed a strange whirring sound that matches engine rev whether in gear or out and in every gear. Sound is NOT coming from transmission. Sounds more like intake area. Can't seem to pin point where. Doesn't sound like air being drawn in, more like the sound a playing card makes against the spoke of a bicycle (sorry I know it is a weird analogy). From inside the car it is dash level in front of passenger. Under hood sounds like intake area. Haven't had a chance for a tech to look at it yet. Any help would greatly be appreciated. I have only done two minor mods - Grounding kit and fog light rewire - but I don't think it is related to either of those.

Is you engine cover sitting securely? After doing the grounding kit I heard almost exactly such a noise from almost exactly that area. I found that my ground-wire installation on the cross-bar was ever-so-slightly preventing the engine cover from seating securely on the cross bar (it has a foam insert in each cutout -- these can also get a bit loose or out of place). It adjusted the ground-wire to assure that it tracked along the bottom of the bar and positioned the tie-downs to be out of the way, and made sure the engine cover was seated securely and -- voila -- no more noise. When I read this post the first thing I thought was that you must have the ground wire installed.

Of course, it could be something else entirely ........

Were you able to see exactly where the nosie was coming from? My ground cable is routed below the strut bar and the engine cover feels like it is on securely. I guess one certain way to test this is to remove the cover altogether and see if the noise goes away. I see that I have the same ground kit as you so maybe you are on to something. Shebam you were absolutely correct, that's what it was. I've since adjusted the wire ties and the noise is gone. THanks again for your help!
