View Full Version : Heater not working! :(
ChristInBen 05-18-2010, 10:17 PM Hey guys,
So I started my car this evening and after it was warmed up, turned the heater on (yes it was cold lol) and nothing but cold air started blasting through. :(
I kept on trying it, turning the thermostat to warm but it was just cold air coming through....have any of you guys experienced this and if so, what do you guys think it could be?
Thanks and God bless,
Ben.
mscamp02 05-18-2010, 10:19 PM yup its a known problem with the car. Theres a DIY on here on how to test and fix it.
It involves pressing a few keys on the radio to see if the temperature input is actually getting changed when you move the knob or if you have a short behind it.
If it turns out that there is a loose wire then there is a step by step thing to fix it. you do need a soldering iron though (20 dollars at an auto store)
Maffu313 05-18-2010, 10:32 PM You hold the volume knob (push it in) and press the up on the tune button (i'm not exactly sure if it's the 'tune' button, but it's the button that's the exact same as the scan button, but on the right side of the console instead of the left) i believe. Hold it for about a second and the display will change to show the A/C Temperature as opposed to the usual Radio/CD player information.
I have this problem in my car as well, but I've noticed that if i push the temperature knob in and hold it in for a while before turning the knob, the dial will work again, for a while.

I just did the 96K big service at Mazda so I'm pretty sure they've already done that.
RXeckless 05-19-2010, 05:19 AM ChristInBen, sorry to hear about your newest problem. Your sure seem be having a run of bad luck. Hopefully this will be the last, God willing.

This is a great DIY.
I had the same problem last year and this did fix it. Excellent DIY.
Ka Kui 05-19-2010, 10:13 AM ChristInBen, did you fix it yet?
ChristInBen 05-27-2010, 06:50 AM Hey I tried pushing in the radio buttons as some of you mentioned, but I didn't see the LCD display any numbers, however thanks to God it started working again! lol
For now, I don't really need to test the thermostat as it's really hot these days and I leave it on cool and put the A/C on sometimes as well, but on a really cold day I'll try it again.
Thanks again for your help guys. :)

REV-illusions 05-27-2010, 10:01 AM Urg... I want that problem... my AC pretty much clunked out yesterday. Was sweating my balls off on the 401 yesterday as the AC turned from cold to rotisserie.

pretty much... soggy back syndrome... the issue went away oddly enough.. guess the gremlin was evicted. Or my car finally ate it... that would explain all the farting lately (backfire)
