Had my car phone fitted to my new RX8, told it can't be fitted through the stereo system. Anyone been able to have theirs fitted through the Bose system?

I had the same problem with my installer, so when I had it serviced at Brookvale Mazda, I asked them the same question and now its rigged through the Bose and the Bose sound cuts out when you are using the phone.

Thanks emack, I'll contact that dealer and ask their advice, if it can be done, there must be someone in melb who can do it too.

Kev, beats me what that cone thing is, it just appeared in the digital pic....

I know what it is - its one of the new Maz Options for the 2004 RX8 .... an oxygen mask that drops down if the engine revs drop below 7500RPM !!!

Sadly, you failed to specify the velocity red colour, maybe L&L will swap with you!!!!!

Guy who fixed emack's mobile in Sydney won't help my installer in Melbourne! Said "why should he?" Fine...

Is there anyone in Melb who's gotten around this problem and can give me the name of there installer or dealer?

What if you offer to pay that guy for his time?

Deano, it's worth a try. I'll give my dealer a call again and get the name of the installer and his number in Sydney. Doesn't hurt to ask...

Cheers mate

Whereabouts on the dash did everyone place the bracket to hold the handset?

Hey Wallaby,

My handset is mounted just to the left of the centre console. It's pretty neat and unobtrusive too.

Are you able to have the sound wired through the Bose stereo with auto-cutout? Couldn't do that with mine and ended up with small speaker under steering column, adequate but not ideal.

Cheers

The guy in Sydney who was going to do mine has done 3 RX8 so far.

He said the first one was abit hard to figure out once he found the right wire it was all good.

Hey Doug

My kit was installed by "autotalk" but he couldn't put it through the stereo. I haven't heard from anyone in melbourne regarding another fitter but as you're in sydney, wait for an answer from Phillip.

Good luck
Michael

The cone thing may be dirt on your lens

by the way if you have a sony phone... this is the way to go.
A Bluetooth handsfree. I am thinking of that myself but need to find a cheap one. Here even in the Chinese owner's shop sells A$330. In Hong Kong about A$200. I will try to install myself - a major DIY, Hymee ;)

oh the link... someone did this first - that is why I am confident hehe :D

This could be blooming caused by overexposure of the image sensor due to a direct reflection of the sun.

Back on topic: has anyone found the wiring diagram that enables the mobile phone to be wired to mute the radio on non-Bose models? My installer -- pretty experienced -- tried his best and reckoned he would have to get into the head unit to do it.
