so I went to replace my brake pads on the front and realized the pistons on the mounting brackets were seized on both sides..anyone know where I can get these dealer said its a special order item takes about 3 days and its 200 a piece. any info would help...thanks

If you have the larger Sport brakes I have a good used left side, just sold the right side to someone else with the same problem, sorry

I don't understand how people are having this problem, never had any issue; those pins should be well lubed

 

What do you mean by seized? did you turn the bleader so you can relieve the pressure behind the piston and push it back in with the C clamp?

 

He's talking about the caliper slide pins, not the caliper piston, just used the wrong terminology

This happened to me and another local. . .

Just the rubber dust boot slips off and dirt gets shot in there as it comes off the tires/wheel.

It is possible to clean them out if they're not too far stuck... we used an impact gun to slowly break them loose.

If you can remove them and let them soak awhile, that would be good also.

And I believe there is a caliper rebuild kit, but I don't know much more about it other than that it exists. Maybe.

I have the same problem, Front brake pin Passenger side lost its movement due to grease absent some how the rubber that suppose to protect the pin from dust loosed and the pin dried out, couldn't pull it out to re-grease so I need a whole new set of bracket and pins but the brake piston is ok.

 

can a mod move this thread out of the series 2 forum plz

 

Same thing happened to me, on my right side bracket. The rubber seal was gone, water and brake dust was going in and the pin was seized. I sprayed WD-40 or Brake Cleaner in it, let it soak for awhile. Then take a 14mm socket and turn it left and right, at the same time you have to pull the pin out while you turn. That's how I took mine out, cleaned the rust very good with sand paper, greased it well, and bought some new rubber seals. You don't need to replace the hole bracket, and pay 100 bucks, just because of this. If you can't do it, take it to a brake shop give them 10 bucks and they will take it out in 10mins.
