I have a 192 (wished i'd bought a 231) RX8. Very embaressed that I can't keep pace with a Renault clio Sport. Can this be right or is my car f**ked!? I've had it less than a year and i love it but this last month i've had real trouble starting it when the engines warm. After reading one or three posts i'm hoping i don't need a new engine as i'm out of warranty. But back to my main question, should i be getting my arse kicked by a Renault clio?

There was a 200 hp model and I believe they are rather lightweight...

problems starting the car when warm could indicate a compressoin issue. Get your compression tested.

i'm busy looking for somewhere to take it to get it checked. I was gonna try changing the coils 1st.

My mother had a Renault RS and that thing was a nice fast car. A couple mods and for sure you will get passed. Let alone the v6 verion she now has. I drove it once with her in the car and she was hitting me with the purse in 5 mins.
They are quick little machines, I almost bought her old one with the 2.0 but couldn't resist the 8.

this is a drag race? just Google the specs if it is.

Warm start could be a CAT or Vapor Lock or water in the tank or starter.

Even over heated coils that are breaking down and shorting out.

Thanks for the advice, i've started anew thread looking for advice for my engine troubles. Went to the dealership yesterday and they quoted me £6800 for a new engine so hope it doesn't come to that.
