Footman 01-10-2010, 10:31 PM yes hackdss 01-10-2010, 10:49 PM Ok great will do Thanks Footman 01-10-2010, 11:02 PM I would recommend that you shut your engine off with the bag on... with the bag on... I tried.. you need to leave some room for it to breath.. you can't tie a knot tightly!!! otherwise, your engine will shut down from lack of air. ZmFnZm 01-11-2010, 09:24 PM i have the Mazda Speed intake on mine (same as AEM) although i store my 8 for the winter, if you take it through the car wash the filter will get soaked!!! Definatly not worth doing in the winter, you could end up getting stuck on the 401 like Footman did! Footman 01-11-2010, 10:34 PM LOL... yeah.. hackdss, not sure if you were around back then.. but find the thread I started about the MS CAI issues... it's quite extensive and thorough.. and good useful information for all MS CAI owners to be aware about. hackdss 01-11-2010, 11:47 PM Ok thanks I will do the plastic bag way Footman 01-12-2010, 09:27 AM If you're gonna bag it.. don't do it too tightly... and I'd also advise you stuff a few sheets of old newspapers lining the inside of the bag to absorb some of the splash water. hackdss 01-12-2010, 01:32 PM OK will do thanks Snrub 01-13-2010, 12:03 PM Why do you think it matters if your fabric filter gets a little wet? REV-illusions 01-13-2010, 02:47 PM it's not that the fabric gets damp... it's if it gets soaked. Basically you'll drown the engine with water when it's warm.. get the maf soaked... etc. In the winter the water freezes in the filter and will completely cut off the air flow to the engine. We've had a few members up here have this problem both in summer and the winter... Hense why I have the Racing Beat intake :D hackdss 01-13-2010, 05:12 PM Maybe I should trade my intake for another intake Footman 01-13-2010, 05:47 PM Since last spring, I have swapped out the MS CAI for a stock intake with K&N filter. I've had no problems ever since; I lose some of the sound, but that's an okay trade off for all year round drivability that I REQUIRE. I haven't sold the MS CAI though, because I'm banking on one day, I will have a winter beater, and I will put the CAI back on :) :) :) ZmFnZm 01-13-2010, 08:59 PM That's the reason i got the MS CAI. I'm not worried about the winter freeze-up issues if it gets we since my 8 is in a garage all wrapped up in her blanket and i'm stuck driving my 8 year old Focus winter beater Thumper3322 01-14-2010, 12:25 PM That's why I sold my MS CAI...not worth the hassle headache you go thru for it. Luv my new set up so much better and more reliable! Good luck with it...IMO I wouldn't do it! qtwre 01-14-2010, 01:09 PM I am somehow the exception that has had no problems at all with my AEM/MS intake in all weather and automatic car washes. |
