Hello,

I am PCS'ing to VA and I am wondering how strict the emmissions tests are in the VA area? I have a gutted CAT so I am wondering how strict the emissions are because I have to get a safety inspection. Thanks for the help.

depends on which county. NOVA is pretty damn strict.

Yes, up near DC is strict and they'll check for it. If you're going to the Norfolk area, they'll just make sure you have a cat installed. The won't check the emissions.

Fort Eustis is in NewPort News. So its safe to say I can keep the gutted cat or should I get a new one.

Welcome to the area.
I'm stationed at Norfolk and have all my vehicles registered in Va. On yearly inspections Ive never seen anyone check my actual exhaust.... Though they might if it tripped a CEL.
One thing to consider is that if your car is still registered in another state then you can run those plates as long as you're in the military. No Va inspection required.

I just had the safety inspection done in Alexandria... Didnt check for a Cat or Emmisions during the Safety Inspection... But my emmissions test comes in March so I'll have to pass then... My car is registered in VA so If your Car is registered in your home State don't worry about either one... Especially being in the Military Gotten out of a few tickets with my Mil ID stickers...
