You might want to indicate if it's a dual resonated midpipe or the non-resonated midpipe. They do offer two models now.

if he had it for a couple years it must be the non resonated, the dual is fairly new

 

He said he had it for 1.5 years so most likely the non resonated one

Depending on your exhaust it will be a lot louder either way. and yes you will get a CEL
