newguy 11-08-2009, 09:14 AM im loving the velocity stacks on the intake and when a wing requires bumper cutting thats serious yO
kersh4w 11-08-2009, 10:29 AM somebody really needs to let them know that they do not have the only 4 rotor rx8 in this world.
having that on their windshield is so.... tacky.
EMart11b 11-08-2009, 03:28 PM I think it looks like shit
whoneedspistons 11-08-2009, 04:12 PM more please
Symbioticgenius 11-08-2009, 04:34 PM 1. Its a track car, Function over Form always.
2. Pics 2 & 3 made me lose it.
3. Gotta love false advertising.
26B RX8 11-08-2009, 07:43 PM I think I'll put that in my windshield once it is done .....jejeje:Peace:
BReal-10EC 11-08-2009, 08:25 PM At idle it sounds like a Brian Eno song (in a good way).
I wonder what engine housings they used to make this four rotor? For some reason, I doubt it was the Renesis.
BReal-10EC 11-08-2009, 08:38 PM It's the "Lemans winning" 787 motor.
But what was the fire on the ground in front of the car in the dyno video?
kersh4w 11-08-2009, 09:10 PM its a 26b.
peripheral port.
gh8st 11-09-2009, 12:22 AM the sound it makes is absolutely terrifying.. what a beast
T-ReX-8 11-09-2009, 12:29 AM I think it looks like shit
It is based off of the '09 body style so they really can't help that much. :worship:
But the 4 rotary sounds so beastly on the track.

Holy crap, I didn't even notice it was on the 09 body style. I was too busy looking at the engine bay :lol2:
mscamp02 11-09-2009, 09:18 AM So where can I get my 4 rotor lol
imput1234 11-09-2009, 01:16 PM This car is badass! looks ill!
PP 4 Rotor, I can only whish as of this moment....
26b!!!
sounds so dam good.
Only if I hard about 50-60k in my wallet, then I might think about buying some of the things that would be needed to pull this off.
Striker-7 11-09-2009, 10:12 PM Dear gods!
Idle to rev limiter in milliseconds. Seriously, a switchblade doesn't open as fast.
Like the other gentleman said, "Form follows function". That beast is designed to do one thing; rip the pavement a new pothole wherever it wants to, when it wants to.
Glorious sound!
canaryrx8 11-10-2009, 12:38 AM saw this car in person, one of only 3 Rx-8's at SEMA this year and it was frickin' sweet. Most impressive thing about me was how new the car was, first I noticed the 4 rotor, then I saw it was an 09, pretty awesome overall considering what its built for. :)
altspace 11-10-2009, 06:32 AM ^I agree. Built to race and that's it. My guess is Mazda had a big part of this build and might have even supplied the car, hence the newer model.
canaryrx8 11-10-2009, 11:16 AM My SEMA pics are up, over 400 of them, page 50 or 51 has more pics of the 4 rotor if anyone's interested :)

^ STYLISH, you're on airbag suspension, right? Nice.
canaryrx8 11-10-2009, 06:50 PM ^ STYLISH, you're on airbag suspension, right? Nice.
yup I certainly am, fixing to redo it with some custom made goodies. So maybe I should get a sticker on my window that says "world's only liquid cooled car audio system" huh? :D:

damn
Sarah_b 11-11-2009, 11:17 AM altspace - thanks for the great pics!!!
We had a great time at the SEMA show, and it was even better when we got to start it up and drive it out - really drowned out the sound of those V8 guys hehe.
As for the sticker - if there is another RX8 4 Rotor running around on the track with video footage,, we would be more than happy to remove the sticker.
Yes this a 2009 RX8 - Mazda helped with a few parts on the car, but realisticly it has been a labor of love.
If anyone has any questions about the car we would be more than happy to answer them, you can contact us via the forum or my email is sarah@bmiracing.net

i would love to see one for street too : )
JinDesu 11-16-2009, 01:08 PM I'd LOVE to see the racing it does =x
Nice link Sarah
I never get tired of hearing the 4 rotor rev.
Only in my dreams
9krpmrx8 11-17-2009, 09:35 AM Crazy. Did I see SE3P and Dozer in the crowd?
RB RX7 11-17-2009, 02:31 PM Well you should all like this...
Sarah, Adam and Jeff made the engine of our dreams with years of hard work and without hardly any factory help or parts. Everyone said it couldn't be done, so they had to build it first before any major major backing would happen...the time is at hand.
Good luck BMI Racing!

OSSHWA 11-17-2009, 11:22 PM Wow.
I just shit my pants.
07rx-8 11-18-2009, 07:39 AM Did this car make it to any of the final rounds of the time attack series after sema?
I want to see a full track video of it going around willow springs! That would be awesome.
Track times! Also!

Call me dumb, but what is that tube in the dead center between the Intake Ports for? I would would assume another part of the intake?
JinDesu 11-18-2009, 09:58 AM I'll throw in another question too:
In the video where you are revving the engine, there is something moving back and forth on top of the engine as the engine revs. Does that signify a variable intake?
07rx-8 11-18-2009, 11:53 AM ^^^
cyberpits
Im not sure but i think its the oil filler neck?
Look who did their ceramic seals.....
http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=55393313
If not then we got one more 4 rotor out there.

That is an old video from May when we first started the car, Sven from NRS was the first person to see that video, hence why he posted it.
As you can see we also changed the throttle setup, from 4 individual throttles to one slide throttle.
Unfortunately we did not make it to the final round of Time Attack, we have been too sick to get the car prepped.

That is most likely a slide throttle. Here is our two rotor:

EricMeyer 11-18-2009, 07:28 PM Call me dumb, but what is that tube in the dead center between the Intake Ports for? I would would assume another part of the intake?
I beleive that's a water inlet or exit. Most likely this thing runs an electric water pump which is probably buried under the radiator.

Whooooops----sorry about that Sarah. I have a few zillion questions. If I may:
-I see that your running both primary and secondary injectors. Do you turn off the prim at higher rpms and if so can you share that value?
-What size RC injectors?
-Lambda value targets. .92?
-I suspect that the blue lines on the pass firewall are for a hidden dry sump in the rear of the car----yes? Would it be possible to take a few more shots of the engine when fully dressed?
-Tune this with the 02 or EGT?
Thanks for sharing. Great stuff.
Ohhh----trans and differential info if you could. Thanks again.
EricMeyer 11-18-2009, 07:45 PM Sarah, is that black UFO lookin' thing by the relay box an electric water pump?
JinDesu 11-18-2009, 08:05 PM That is most likely a slide throttle. Here is our two rotor:

Thanks! I never heard of a slide throttle before (car newbie here). Time to google

- We are only running one set of injectors - these are the ones at the trumpets, the others located directly into the engine did not work, they caused a loss of power.
- Injector size 1200cc
- You are correct on the dry sump lines, the tank is in the rear.
- Both on the 02 and EGT
- Transmission EMCO 4 speed (ex-nascar) we all have dreams about a 6 speed sequential. :)
- Diff - RX8 with a tomei lsd
- The black ufo looking thing is a Davies Craig Electric Water pump. We have used these for many years back in Australia on a lot of performance street cars. They are a great and simple device, that works effectively. For more information check out http://www.daviescraig.com.au

Jedi54 11-19-2009, 06:35 PM Sarah, thanks for sharing!
I had the pleasure of meeting you and seeing this car at SevenStock; simply amazing vehicle and it's obvious all of you have an enormous passion for this project.
This thing was music to my ears at SevenStock.
KKMpunkrock2011 11-19-2009, 07:44 PM I'm so glad I logged in and saw this.
Thank you for all the amazing work you've done for the rotary community sarah, best of luck next season.
Sarah_b 11-19-2009, 08:24 PM Thanks guys, we appreciate the support!!
It's a project that we started talking about back in Australia, and then we made the move over to the USA, in probably the worst economic climate, but, we couldn't have built it in Australia as we wouldn't have had the support from sponsors like we do here.
We had a great day at Sevenstock and always enjoy speaking to fellow rotor heads :)
Adam and I have spent many hours discussing, working, and making various parts for the car, somethings had even been done twice ie intake system, and changes to the exhaust. Adam did incredible work on the car, considering the budget and lack of the right equipment, we went through about 5 Harbor freight drills, and 6 Harbor freight grinders. Alot people thought that we were just plain crazy, up until we cranked the engine over for the first time.
If its ok with everyone here I would like to list the people that have supported us this year. One person is a definite and that is Sven from NRS Seals up in Canada, his products are extremely impressive to say the least, and he is a great guy to talk to as well.
I will also let you guys know when and where we take the car out to the track.
Thanks again
Sarah
nate340 11-19-2009, 11:58 PM its nice that canada has something to offer. some of the best seals money can buy!
canaryrx8 11-20-2009, 12:47 AM seals?

:D:
awesome car btw, I saw it at SEMA up close, missed heariing it though.
Yeah Sven is the man.
That 4 rotor is pretty beastly.
KKMpunkrock2011 11-20-2009, 10:22 AM any chance you guys have a facebook group that would allow us to follow you on there?
Also mind explaining what you did about the e-shaft as it appears you're not using the large 3 rotor center housing? I assume some sort of multi-piece keyed unit?
Have you guys ever strapped it to a dyno to see what it puts down? I know it's not really as important in time attack, but just so you know the numbers.
edit: nevermind, saw that you posted your facebook page.
nikkdizzle 11-28-2009, 04:13 PM that car was at sevenstock. they fired it up several times and it sounded sexxy! my goodness! heres a vid..too bad the sound quality sucks!
