I am currently searching for the perfect RX8... I am having a hard time finding one let alone finding the one that is perfect for me.
Looking for a 2007 and I am torn between black on black and white on black...

The Reverend 10-30-2009, 12:12 AM Black is a great color if you keep it clean!!! But a pretty girl always looks good in a white 8.
Winning Blue is the best though :D: (obligatory self promotion)

Vlaze 10-30-2009, 08:31 AM White, it's much more unique.
Watch out for the leg humpers here on the forums as you can already see.

Lets get back to my future 8 :)
Im leaning towards white...
Is leather the way to go? Is the Nav system worth getting?
Oh no!....it has to be black...not the white...unless it's pearl white, then ok...maybe...
mike[piston eater] 10-30-2009, 01:30 PM leather yeas, nav i say no
mike[piston eater] 10-30-2009, 01:31 PM and white is so much nicer than black, maybe its cuase all the cars at my house are black but i dont like it

Denial is a bi0tch ain't it son?
Get the GT trim; it has heated leather on the front seats and traction control plus an aero body trim kit.
dozer 10-30-2009, 01:46 PM i say you go red :yumyum:
with leather youll be sliding around, but youll have heated seats to keep you warm, clothe is less luxurious
Vlaze 10-30-2009, 01:50 PM I don't have any sliding problems whatsoever with the leather, the seat design keeps you planted very well actually, unless you're trying to slide......:suspect:
mike[piston eater] 10-30-2009, 01:52 PM i dont slide cause of leather its just the seat
Beauge23 10-30-2009, 02:23 PM white on white, leather seats and gt trim. cant go wrong with that, and nav is ok, but deff not needed
and its the easiest to keep clean, despite what others might think. this is my first white car, and its always looks good, even after several days of not being washed

rot8te 10-30-2009, 02:58 PM Personally I think white on Red/Black is one of the coolest combos, however out of your choices I would say White/Black Grand Touring sans NAV (get yourself a Garmin). By the way, you planning on getting a 6spd?

I want white with black leather interior (2007 or 2008)... So hard to find.. I definitely want 6spd.. I am driving an automatic now and it sucks. I have a garmin nuvi already just was wondering if the built in Nav was worth it or not.

The 04-08 Nav IMO is kind of dated. With that being said, if you find one with NAV there's no reason (obviously) to pass on it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to find one. Good choice on the 6SPD :yesnod:
rot8te 10-30-2009, 04:10 PM Wow I basically did a nationwide search and this is the only decent looking 07 GT White/black I could find (Even though it's got an Auto shifknob, has high miles, and the price is bs). I'm sure there are a couple of others I missed but dam. Needle in a hay stack. I'm sure black/black is much easier to find, but I say never compromise when you're buying something expensive.

The 09's have a 5K rebate. If you figure invoice I think that puts you at around 25K. Anyway, just a thought.
RIWWP 10-30-2009, 04:20 PM WWP all the way.
Every 8 looks good during the day, but the WWPs are take the cake at night. By far. The dark colors disappear, the WWP just glows softly, flaunting it's lines. :)
I'd not worry about the Nav too much, especially if you already have a consumer one. That is better anyway. Definately go for the stock appearance package (front lip, aero flares) if you aren't going to an aftermarket bumper shortly, looks soo much better on any 8, though the dark colors don't look as bad without it, since the dark bottom line blends rather than looking out of place.
Don't settle for less than you want. I spent 4 months patiently watching every online car site waiting for exactly the 8 I wanted. Don't get an 8 and then find yourself wishing you had another option, or another color in a few months. It's worth it in the end, it really really is.

Thanks for sending those links though :)
Anyone on here selling? hahah I doubt but worth asking

alliecatsy 11-19-2009, 11:58 PM So I finally found the 8 that I want. Its White of course ;) and has all the goodies Im looking for!!!
It is a 2006. I have read that the 2004 and 2005 had trouble with the engine.
Should I be weary of buying a 2006?
:wiggle:
RIWWP 11-20-2009, 08:36 PM Nope, should be fine. The 04's didn't get enough oil initially, and flooded alot, both combined to cause alot of problems. Still heavily based on who the driver was. Mazda improved it in 05, and still further in 06, so you should be fine
Of course, check the standard stuff, last coil change, last plug change, transmission fluid brand/type if it was changed (no RP), see how smooth it idles, etc...
Call MNAO with the vin to verify warranty still exists (more with voided warranties have been showing up here and there)

I want a white RX8. Black leather interior, 6spd, sunroof (saw the 09.. they dont have one!!) I am looking for low mileage as well.
Thats about it :) I can change the rest when I get it.
I am trying to drive down to LA this coming long weekend..

Ross_Dawg 11-21-2009, 12:28 AM Congrats on finding the WWP! I have to admit white is better looking at night then black, but black during the day all shiny CANNOT be beat.
Black leather interior screams sexy, so good choice :D:
04RX8man 11-21-2009, 08:06 AM Welcome to the addiction...good luck wiht the car search..
CarAndDriver 11-21-2009, 01:22 PM Good luck with car search. WWP is a pretty color. I bought a one-year used 2005 with only 12K miles for a very good deal. RX-8s have lousy resale - so keep on looking till you find what you want. 6MT is the way to go. The 8 is easy to drive with a manual. I have a GT no nav, but from what I have read on here the 8's nav is really hard to use and not that great.
Maybe you should have a 2nd color choice or all colors you're willing to accept? I wasn't super picky with my car. It was more finding price and low miles.
Search Cars.com and Craigslist.
alliecatsy 11-21-2009, 06:08 PM I need some advice!!
I spoke to the person who is willing to sell the car to me.
Here is what he said:
"This car was issued a Hawaii salvage title. Vehicles are salvaged at a much higher rate in Hawaii because is very expensive to fix anything over there. "
I have the carfax, and saw the pictures of the damaged bumper (it was reparied and has a 3 yr warranty)... The car still costs 13,900 and has 58k miles.
What do you think?
The Reverend 11-21-2009, 06:10 PM The price is way to high for an 8 with 58K miles, and with the salvage title I would not take that car
Gr8Bullet 11-21-2009, 06:34 PM Welcome to the club!
CarAndDriver 11-21-2009, 06:49 PM IMHO, if it was just a bumper accident - it wouldn't be a salvage title. It seems fishy to me.
I'd avoid any car with a salvage title. So no other colors appeal?

Oh there are other colors I would like. I am interested in Black, White, or the Stormy Mica Blue.
I really want leather seats and it has to be a 6spd... those 2 items are making finding a car close to impossible.
I am also finding that the 2006 is way over priced...
Gr8Bullet 11-21-2009, 07:26 PM Galaxy grey ftw!!!!
CarAndDriver 11-21-2009, 07:36 PM Did you ever mention what your budget was?

Budget under 18k... But I cant see spending that much on an 05-06 that is completely stock!
RyansRx8 11-22-2009, 01:24 AM theres an 8 selling for 18k thats turbocharged and all this shit done to it but its in missouri...sry :(...Get one though I'm waiting on the pics of your newly purchased 1.3!!! haha
ken-x8 11-22-2009, 10:10 AM Should I be weary of buying a 2006?
You're probably getting weary of the search, especially after that guy with the salvage title.
But...2006 is a good year to get. By then some of the nuisance items of the earlier ones were fixed. The sun visors and heater knob were improved (earlier ones broke a lot) and it came with the bigger starter. They also came with a rock guard in front of the AC condensor. The 4206f reflash, which really cut the odds of flooding, came in mid '06.

I found these three within 500 miles of the Bay Area. GT manuals. Use advanced search on Cars.com. With this economy, you should be able to get a good deal.
2007, $17995, 28327 miles, Sunlight Silver
2006, $16750, 38520 miles, Galaxy Blue
2006, $15873, 51892 miles, Copper Red
I'd lean toward the 2007 and bargain hard hard hard. You'd still be under the factory warranty for a bit too.
