hey guys,
been on here for a few weeks now, great forum for fellow australian rx-8 owners.
anyway, got a black rx-8 non-leather pack in mid december. this is my third mazda and first rotary engined mazda. believe it or not, it is the only brand new one i could find in sydney. only mods so far are a set of 19 x 8.5 front & 19 x 9.5 rear with 245/35 & 275/30 tyres and dark tint. suspension, new colour and new interior are decided and will be carried out throughout the year.it is a great car, enjoyed very much. have only done close to 900km so far, but im sure i will put more km's on soon! the engine is ultra smooth (i have already been offered a sponsorship to have it turbocharged with a t67 setup, but i turned it down... for the timebeing..... i want realiability!) and loved the doors. i had my eyes on this thing since it came out at the sydney motorshow a couple of years ago as the concept car. my girlfriend was going to put the deposit down then, but i had to drag her away from the mazda stand.
however, there are few thing i found annoying.......
1. the air cond isnt as cold compared to my other piston engine cars. i will raise this issue with the service department when i go in for the 1,000km service.
2. the front cup holders, my elbow hits the drink when i change gears, its annoying. they are too close!
3. it is an attractive car, get looks all the time, and sometimes it can be annoying (people tried to make eye contact with you and pointing at the car), thats why i got the dark tint done.
4. fuel efficiency, it sux. i know it will drink alot more for the frist few thousand km's, but at the moment this thing is so bloody thirsty! maybe because i have the air cond on all the time?!? :p
apart from that, it is an amazing car!
looking forward to seeing you people out there. maybe we should have a sydney outing soon?!?
eric
