After this thread
They decided when the engine's not turning over, it = engine swap
o well
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=184484

so after 2 days, my dealer got hold of the tech department and granted my car a new engine, they ordered it and they told me it takes 2 weeks to come (is this too long?)

For people who have had engine failures before, am I going to have towing reimbursement and a free rental car?
I will try to call Mazda NA again tmr.

Thanks

I would call you insurance company and find out what they cover. I highly doubt Mazda will pay for your towing and or rental car. But you never know. When my engine went state farm paid for the towing, but i did not need a rental so i do not know about that. Also 2 weeks is a long time but since your getting it replaced for free it is worth the wait. Should only take 2-3 days to install at a good dealership.

i think my insurance plan is only for liability, so i doubt they are gonna pay for that...
i'm asking cuz my service rep left me a voicemail saying that "at the time i can't contact the warrenty department yet, but i'll get back to you on monday if a rental car is granted." i guess i'll have to call her tmr and check

and hm... yea... they say it's gonna take 2 weeks to order and ship, but only a day or two to install...

thanks for the reply invasion08

I'm pretty sure that if they determine that the engine has to be replaced then they will reimburse you for the towing. Car rental will most likely be on you. Not sure if your M/T or Auto....are you going for clutch disk?

The wear depends on how it was treated and if it is hyw miles or around town. Miles?

so.. i picked up the car today, everything seems to run fine.
they replaced... ok so here it goes...
the engine, rs engine mount (again?! they swapped in new ones like 2 weeks before the engine died), ignition coil mounting bracket (my shop mechanic broke it, glad that the dealer didn't find out and they just went ahead and replaced it for me), engine starter
ALL FOR FREE!!!!

weird thing is... i'm hearing a lil' noise from under the car, sounds like the alternator or the starter... idk... i'll try to get a clip up later. but yea... the car is still hving rough idles sometimes, drops to 800-900 idle, but not often.

any thoughts? thanks guys for all your help!

Sure hope you aren't hearing the starter while the car is sitting idle.
It should only be running when you turn the key to 'start'.
Is it the air pump that you're hearing under the hood?
Does it turn off after roughly one minute?

"drops to" 800-900 rpm? And this is a bad thing?
That is where is should stay around at idle.
When its cold outside it'll stay up around 1500rpm (sometimes higher) and then settle down to 800-850rpm once the engine warms-up.
But that is completely normal.

... nah... i was just saying... it sounds like sth goes ta-ta-ta-ta-ta... it's not the alternator... idk... ahhh fxxx i'm such a noob...

hm... idk abt that too, before the engine "seized" idle was running stable @ 1k after warm up, but for some reason, it dropped to 700-900 recently... could it be the vacuum system (don't :greenchai me, i don't even know what i'm talking abt)

Like I said... usually your idle isn't 1K (once the engine is warmed) unless its tuned that way.
So it dropping down (usually 800-880) is normal.
If it was dropping under 700 then I would be concerned.

Can you try to narrow the sound location down by running the car, opening the hood, and listen around?
Does the "ta-ta-ta-ta..." appear like a rapid tapping sound?
If so, that could be one of you spark plug wires loose and the spark is jumping between terminals.
This would also cause rough idles.

a ta-ta-ta coming from under the car it may be the new release bearing as well, does it disappear when in gear or the clutch is pressed?
Anyway glad it all went right, now have a good break-in and enjoy the new engine!
