Hi guys,
I'm sure many of you guys bought your AEM/MS intakes used - just like I did. The AEM/MS intakes are a great item because they're also one of the very few intakes that were issued a CARB EO#. This means that they are legal for street use in the State of California.
As some of you already may have experienced, the police, CHP, and Sheriff are all cracking down on modifications and will use any excuse to cite you for an offense. I used to have an ITB'd Miata before the RX8 and while I loved the hell out of my all-motor naturally aspirated semi-track car - however....the inevitable happened....a ticket and a trip to the Smog Referee.
If anyone has ever been through a Ref situation before for a modified emissions ticket, they know it is a pain the ass and they will try to fail you for the smallest of issues. In my case, they failed me 6 times in a row until they finally told me that all I had to address was an ignition timing issue (retard 2-3 degrees BTDC).
So for all you AEM/MS intake users that have lost your CARB EO Decal, here is the form that you can fill out and send over to AEM to get a replacement:
