My car developed a major oil leak from the drivers side oil cooler line. It was running fine when I shut it down. Had it towed to the dealer in case it was a warranty fix (it so should be) and they wanted $2400 to replace all of the oil cooler lines. I decided to do it myself and had it towed home. They were not very happy with me for declining the work. I replaced the oil line today and went to start it and no luck, which surprised me as it was running fine before it went to the dealer.

My guess is they flooded it, or perhaps did something more malicious than that. I have removed the plugs a couple of time and now and they were wet. I dried them and also tried turning it over with the plugs removed and the fuel fuse removed. Then put the plugs back in and no luck.

Is there some other way the dealer could have disabled my car? I specifically told them not to start it because it had an oil leak. I'm thinking maybe they started it accidently and then quickly shut it down leaving it flooded.

Search for the de-flooding procedures in the DIY section...you should be able to get it going from there.

first of all $2400, thats crazy! in the UK this is a common fault and a recall so done free of charge from any dealer, with or without warrenty.

as for the starting issue if the plugs are wet its been flooded, it also may have been done intensionally if they was unhappy with you not paying a rediculus sum of cash. simple way to mess you car up in seconds!

Yeah, it is crazy, that's why I towed it home. It's also a recall in Canada. I called Mazda USA while it was at the dealer and they said no to my request for help. I bought two of the oil lines from Rosenthal Mazda for around $400 total and replaced them without much trouble. I'm shocked the sucker won't start. It was fine!

I just tried the disconnect eccentric sensor and pull the plugs method. No luck.

I guess I will buy new plugs and give that a go.

Thinking about buying a beater car with the two grand I saved.

its dissapointing that mazda dismissed your request when it is common issue and its a problem they should fix, but hey at least you didnt get ripped off like so many people have. seems strange that the car wont start after going to the dealers. hope its a easy fix for ya mate

It's running again! It was indeed flooded and I had my friend tow it around the church parking lot next door with his 92 volvo. Took a while but I just left the clutch out in 2nd until it started. Damn, I love this forum.

I spent $393 on parts versus $2400 at the stealer to fix my oil leak. How cool is that?
